If he closed his eyes he could hear her voice.
Kisame would probably laugh if he knew what the legendary Sharingan user Uchicha Itachi was doing right now. Not that he could bring himself to care. But still he wanted to feel her now more than anything.
He needed to see her.
What had it been? Weeks? Months? He wasn't quite sure anymore. She had left him for what seemed like eternity. His favourite little doll, his most prized possession. The only thing in life he cared anything about. And how could he not? She understood his needs; she gave everything without wanting anything in return. It still amazed him how she could be so happy with only a look from him. He had thought that she had an ulterior motive, or that she wanted something, so he had asked her . . . and she had answered him.
“What I want,” she had smiled then, the smile that she reserved for him alone. “I want you to live, to come back to me whenever you go out on a mission. I worry sometimes. It's silly because you're so strong but I do worry.”
She worried about him. Itachi couldn't remember the last time someone had worried about him. Though, she was different from anyone he had ever met. Kioyo had the capacity to forgive and forget anything it seemed. She had the capacity to love . . . something he himself had found henceforth impossible.
The last time he had seen her he had renounced any attachment to her. Told her that he cared nothing for her and that she had only been used to slate his lusts. He had told everyone how wanton she was, basically called her a slut in front of everyone and dumped her in Konoha.
At the time he had told himself that she would be a liability, she had become a weakness he could not afford. But now, now she haunted his every waking moment, tortured his dreams. He could hear her in his dreams, feel her, taste her. . . It was slowly driving him insane.
He stood and started to walk. Kisame looked up from cleaning Samehade, “Where are you going?”
For a second it didn't seem that Itachi would answer him, “To Konoha.”
It was time to get what was his.
* *
It had been 11 months since she had been with Itachi, 6 months since that incident in the forest with Kakashi . . . and now Kioyo was having the time of her life.
“You smell nice.”
The deep, husky voice behind her sent shivers up her spine. Instinctively she kicked backwards but he only caught her leg.
“You've gotta do better than that.”
Then she was hauled backwards against a rock-hard chest. His breath fanned against her neck bringing back the shivers. She almost succumbed to him then. Really? What was the worst that could happen? He'd take her on the forest floor? Besides, she had always been a sucker for powerful men . . . especially when they were as gorgeous and as strong as Kiba, being as he thought of himself as the alpha male.
There was a rather harsh intake of breath next to her neck and then she was pushed gently away. When she faced him again he was backing away. She stepped forward, concern written all over her face, “Kiba? What's the matter baby?”
“Kio, you need to leave,” Kiba's voice was even huskier than normal. It made her insides dissolve and melt down into one place. Her boyfriend's eyes widened, “Don't, please don't do that. Kio . . . you're . . . well it's just that . . . Kio, you're in heat.”
“Oh,” it was all she could think of to say. She knew what happened when she was around her boyfriend in this state. His instincts took over and he thought about only one thing. . .
“I'm leaving Kiba,” she turned quickly. “Goodbye Akamaru.”
The big dog looked at her before training its eyes back on its master. Akamaru understood what he was supposed to do. If his master took chase, he would intercept him enough to allow Kioyo to get away. They had discussed this. Kioyo had to stay as far away from Kiba as possible during this time so that she would not risk getting pregnant. It was nothing big, they both just did not want a child at this time.
Kioyo ran out of the clearing and across the streets of Konoha to her small apartment. So much had been happening in her life recently. Kakashi and she had been together for two months before he had been sent on an ANBU mission that no one knew when it would end. Taking this into consideration, they had broken up and decided that when he came back, if the feelings were still there, they could maybe work things out. She had been depressed for days until Kiba had started hanging around trying to cheer her up. They got closer and before she knew it, one thing led to another. They had been together for two months, three weeks.
The red-headed kunoichi shut the door to her home and walked to the bedroom, stripping as she went. She had just made it to the doorway when a voice stopped her short.
“It's been a while Kioyo.”
