It starts with a wave, a nod and a quick eye contact. Nothing is said, nothing is needed. The line between both of you is thick, so thick like the bark of an ancient tree.

Then it comes down to a friendly wave, a friendly smile, a friendly chat... because of Naruto. You start to notice these sort of things whether it's innocently done or unconsciously done; it's just a friendly thing to do, after all.
The thick line between both of you ripples, wavers for a moment and slackens from its thick appearance; it thins.

But then somehow you notice the changes, too late.

The friendly waves become more than just a wave with a held-up hand or a salute; the hand waves linger longer, accompanied with faint touches.

The friendly smiles also become more than just upturned lips, hiding a set of teeth; the smiles hint at shyness, excitement, teasing.-More than just friendly indeed, when you make the first move to taste the smile, literally.

And the friendly chats... they become more than just conversations that are held among acquaintances; intimate, passionate vibes just radiate from almost everything he and you talk about.

You suddenly notice the drastic changes -the longer eye contacts, the oblivious flirting- too late, only to have him confess the 3 words you aren't able to bring out.

"I like you"

So the line is now thinned, leaving both of you close and near. You did not contemplate further and again, make the first move to touch him far longer than in a mere second.

There's just something between the two of you, something akin of mysterious craving... something you cannot distinguish.

Until the line snaps. And you can have him for yourself... perhaps only for the night.
Literally.
