K guys here it is.
Hello again, it's you and me
Kinda always like it used to be
Sippin' wine, killing time
Trying to solve life's mysteries
Kinda always like it used to be
Sippin' wine, killing time
Trying to solve life's mysteries
Sasuke stared at her as she giggled lightly with her associates. He never took the time to find out who they were, or what relationship he had held with them while he was at high school, this is what her presence usually did to him - made him vulnerable, unable to become aware of his surroundings. But who could do such a thing, when the black spaghetti strapped dress did nothing to hide the slender creamy shoulders, the dip in the small of her back? He sighed lightly as she turned to another friend, her short, black hair gently swishing in time to even her slightest movements. How many nights had he envisioned himself playing in the midnight colored hair? Tangling his fingers gently at first but eventually tighter in their throes of passion…passion. Even if she had cut it, Hinata's hair never ceased to make Sasuke's fingers twitch in anticipation.
The blonde beside him chuckled loudly at some humorless joke another fellow high schooler had told him. Sasuke gnawed his jaws together to keep himself from strangling his best friend, but he began to ignore Naruto's guffaws, once he found himself getting further lost in her soft chatter as she raised a slender hand to take up a martini from the drinks tray of a passing waiter. Was that her third glass so far? Sasuke smirked, remembering Hinata's ability to hold her liquor. The smile slowly faded however, when one of Hinata's friends made a move to leave, then eventually the others, until Hinata was only left with one. Sasuke looked around him and realized the conversations were getting more quiet, and looked down at his watch to see minutes to one. People were leaving now. She would be leaving now. Sasuke grunted lightly as he got up and discreetly stretched his legs. He grimaced at the dull pain that ran through his legs. How long had he been sitting there? Naruto's chuckles had died down as the drinks began to take on a calming effect, and his companion; Kiba was beginning to run out of jokes.
“Good riddance to the noise.” Sasuke thought darkly as he began to walk towards her…towards Hinata. Her companion had just kissed her on the cheek to say goodbye, and had barely left before he saw her look down at her watch, and lightly tsked. Sasuke's heartbeat began to work harder as he drew closer to her, yet she still hadn't acknowledged his presence, her attention taken up by the light slow music playing by the live band, as well as the fifty plus people left- a few compared to the staggering hundreds that were present hours before.
How's your life, it's been a while
God it's good to see you smile
I see you reaching for your keys
Looking for a reason not to leave
God it's good to see you smile
I see you reaching for your keys
Looking for a reason not to leave
Hinata gently sipped her martini, thinking of a reason not to leave (a/n…I know its from the song…deal with it). After all, she rarely had the chance to go out anymore, her mind usually occupied by work…amongst other things. She sighed lightly, almost succumbing to her surroundings. The place was either filled with people she barely knew or people who were drunk, and she refused to be puked upon should she try the drunkards, so almost ready to leave, Hinata tensed when she suddenly detected a presence behind her. Turning around slowly, lavender eyes immediately made contact with those of onyx, and Hinata barely took the time to contain the soft gasp of surprise.
“………Sasuke…”
He smirked upon hearing his name coming from her lips. He gave her no time to recover from her sudden state of shock before leaning down to her face, his lips inches from her cheek, and giving her a chaste kiss on the tinting flesh.
He gently chuckled, as she turned even redder, unable to hide the full blush by now.
“Hello Hinata. How long has it been? Ten years?”
No amount of shock could stop Hinata from narrowing her eyes at his comments.
“And whose fault is that…Sasuke Uchiha?”
He cringed at the hint of anger in her voice. Long gone was the stutter he had been used to during their high school days - the days when nothing seemed to matter, when having someone by your side meant more than getting straight A's.
His smirk left him as Sasuke stared hard down at her. She held a pout, a small but convincing one nonetheless. He grew serious.
“Hinata…I'm sorry. Honestly I am.”
The pout left her as Hinata heard the tone in his voice. Sure there was repentance in his apology, but there was something else, subtle but present nonetheless. Was it…could it be longing? Tears slowly made their way to her eyes as Hinata looked up at her high school boyfriend - the one she had wanted to spend the rest of her life with, the one who had told her days before her graduation that they couldn't be together…because of his family. The same family who had refused to accept her in the first place. She had promised herself not to cry, to remain his friend as long as he had wanted her to be, and it worked for a while…until…it all stopped. But now…it was just too much, the pain was just too surreal.
“Hinata?” Sasuke caught sight of the sudden glistening of her eyes and she immediately looked away from him.
“Martinis. I need something to drink.” He nodded silently. There really was nothing to say at this point, even as the two made their way to the bar, Sasuke was unable to ignore the tears that had threatened to fall from her eyes. Was approaching her, ten years after they had seen each other, one in the morning at their high school reunion…a mistake?
