Always in the End…Comes hope and rebirth…

This is a Halo Fanifc. The only thing is, it gets pretty weird near the end…and it turns into a Neon Genesis Evangelion/ Revolutionary Girl Utena/ Halo crossover fic. There isn't that much taken from these Anime Series' though…so don't worry.

It's been 3 years since the Spartan's last run in with the Covenant. And ever since, they've all kept in close with each other all over Earth.

Aali walks ahead of David for a moment as they slowly reach 3 tombstones. The wind blows wildly and causes one of the flowers she's holding to fly away, but she ignores it and sits on her knee's in front of the 3 large tombstones, that together, show 3 Spartan's in MJOLNIR armor standing back to back. The names on the Tombstones, Daniel Bernal, Jaime Escamilla, and Jason Urbonowicz. She sighs as she sets the flowers down in front of them and whispers to them.

"Oh Danny…if only you would've told me your intentions earlier…I wouldn't have to make these trips…"

She stood and looked to David who took her by the shoulder as they started to walk away. But as they reached the car, her cell rang.

She looked at the caller I.D.

"Kiser, Samuel?" she said, "Why would Sammy be calling now?"

She answered.

"Sammy?"

"Aali, I just got a call from John, he wants you to call all of the Spartan's that were with him 3 years ago and he wants us all to be at his house in an hour…I think something's wrong…" Sammy explained.

"Why do you think that?"

"Because he says he has armor for me and a few other new Spartan's…"

Aali looked at David slowly and hung-up on Sammy, she motioned him to get in the car and they drove off to John's house…wondering what was up.

They finally reached John's mansion. After being discharged from being the Master Chief, they rewarded him for his efforts greatly. It had been 3 years since they had seen him, Aali wondered how much John had changed. They reached the drive-way gates, and an AI came up in front of them…it was Cortana.

"Aah, Aali, David. John is expecting you…"

"Is there anything you can tell me before I get in there?" asked David.

"John knew you were going to ask that, so he made it so I cannot tell you anything…please enter and find for yourself."

Aali and David nodded and drove forward when the gates opened. They parked and slowly walked up the large, marble stairs that lead to John's home. When they reached the doors and knocked, Aali half expected to see Kelly open the door, but John in fact opened the doors…but he looked…different. He smiled at them, his bright hazel eyes lighting up, and he obviously decided to let his hair grow out, since it was now down to his chin…but he was still gorgeously built…Aali almost collapsed when she saw him.

"Wow…John, Good to see you again…" she said smiling and stuttering.

He just continued smiling as he looked to David and they shook hands. But as John looked back to Aali, they couldn't help but embrace each other in a hug.

"You look awesome Aali!" he said.

They all walked inside his huge living room and sat down. Many of them recognized each other. But there were a few new people too.

"So Sammy…you actually were invited" said Aali, turning to where Sammy was sitting.

Also, next to Sammy, was another man with shaved blonde hair, bright blue eyes and no expression on his face, though he seemed happy to be there.

"That's Brian…he was close to Jason, Jaime and Danny," said John to Aali, then he pointed to 2 others, one looked about 14, the other 18, "Same with them, Jon and Nicky, they were related to Jaime…they all volunteered to be here."

Aali nodded and walked to Jon and Nicky, she smiled.

"You were related to Jaime?" she asked, and they nodded.

She then proceeded to remove Jaime's dog-tag from around her neck and gave them to Nicky. Then she went to Brian and did the same with Jason's tags.

"I see you still have Danny's…" said Brian.

"Me and Danny were close…" she said as she turned around and saw someone taller than her standing at the door. He had tall, dark brunette hair, dark blue/ dark teal eyes and a great smile. He then walked forward to the rest of them and said hi to Brian, who proceeded to tell him to shut up.

"He must not like you much…" said Aali to the new guy.

"Yeah, but I'm used to it now…so who are you?" he asked.

"Aali, you?"

"Doug Howe…nice to meet you, Aali…" he said sweetly as he then proceeded to check her out. Then John came forward.

"Can I get you all to follow me…I have something to show you all, and it may be more interesting to some of you than others…"

They all slowly followed John into a large, dark room. There were many small, neon green lights that were reflecting off of the glass in the room, but as everyone tried to focus on what was in the glass containers…John turned the lights on. Then, everyone could tell what it was. At the top was someone's name, their number, their age at the time it was used, and then below….was there MJOLNIR armor.

Aali ran to her's and read it out loud…Doug followed her.

"Evenstar, Aali- 118- 17"

Then Aali went to John.

"Where's Kelly?"

John then announced the following.

"Some of the Spartan's we were lucky enough to work with last time will not be with us again, the following are those people: Kelly, and David Spade…and then, of course, those we lost, Daniel Bernal, Jaime Escamilla, and Jason Urbonowicz."

Everyone looked around to the other in confusion.

"This is hard to explain, but I'll try. You haven't been called here again because the Covenant is back. The good news is, the Covenant is totally obliterated, and the bad news…" he stopped and looked to Aali, "The Flood and The Forerunner have joined forces to wipe out the human race. Some of you, have been called back to duty because of your superb fighting abilities…and for those who are new, are called here to learn what we all had to so long ago."

Aali looked back up at John.

"So…what exactly is different?"

John smiled and looked back out at them.

"Everything is the same, except for an added installment. Cortana, Deja and Athena have installed virtual reality modificators…sort of, Glitches that can be called upon whenever necessary. The Glitch is used to modify our abilities even more, the only thing that is a problem…we have no control over what happens other than our fighting skills that we decide on doing. Now…try out your suits again."

At this time, everyone grabbed their old, dented suits and put them on, they fit, of course. John smiled as he looked to them.

"One thing you all have to remember…ANYTHING can happen while you're in a Glitch, even the most farfetched idea's can happen, the only way we can control it, is by using our minds, and even then, it's difficult." He looked to Aali, "Another note, even your minds deepest, darkest thought can come through in Glitch…so watch yourself."

Aali put her helmet on and activated the Glitch system, and as soon as she did, a flash cut scene of Danny and herself in an intimate moment came through her head, and as soon as it did, she ripped her helmet off. John just looked at her.

"I dunno if I like the idea of this Glitch thing…"

John then walked over and smiled, with his helmet on and the Glitch activated.

"You have to get used to it…that's all." He said, as he slowly set his hand on her shoulder, and as soon as he did, a flash cut scene went through his head too, the same thing, only with himself and Aali. He didn't move other than shaking his head slowly.

It was about 3 in the morning, they all were staying the night at John's, and Aali was sitting with her helmet on…seeming to be staring aimlessly into the wall in front of her, but she wasn't watching the wall…she was watching the many cut scene's flashing through her head. A series of 3 second at a time scene's of her and Danny, together, alone, locked within each other's body's. Then the COM came in.

"You know we're starting training again tomorrow…"

It was John of course.

"Uhh, right…yeah. I know." She answered incoherently.

"Aali Bernal…" he sighed, and she slowly lifted her head to look at him.

John sat down next to her and grabbed her hand lightly, bringing it up to the light that was softly shining in from the moon.

"You have two rings…one of them had to be moved when David asked you to marry him. The other, has an inscription on the inside, it reads `118 and 112, the loss of life could not part us'" he said to her softly, "That was your first engagement ring, when we were on Reach, when you first met Danny…you were meant to be married when you got off…but Danny, half heartedly knew, he wouldn't make it off the planet alive…"

Aali sighed and set her head in her hands.

"We weren't going to tell anyone, we were going to pull it off like we were just really close friends, no one saw the ring…but when he died, and even now, I always feel like something's missing."

"Something is…Danny" said John quietly, "But you know, David loves you, and the new guy Doug likes you…"

"Yeah, I love David too. And I'm not to sure about that Doug guy…and have you ever though that Sammy looks a lot like you, I mean, dirty blonde hair, hazel eyes, it' just ironic I guess…" answered Aali, "But one thing is for sure…I will ALWAYS have my heart for Danny, even if I have to split it with David."

John nodded.

"Understandable…totally acceptable."

Aali sat silent for a moment, then looked back to John.

"How many of the people that are here, knew Danny, Jaime and Jason, and how do they know them?"

"If I can remember correctly, Jon and Nicky were Jaime's cousins, and of course, Jaime was Danny's cousin. I'm pretty sure Brian was a close friend of Danny, Jaime and Jason, and Doug was the out casted one…they didn't like him, they thought he was a dumbass, but he's here now…that's why Brian isn't too thrilled."

Aali nodded.

"I'll have to have a talk with Jon and Nicky…about Danny…but what about Sammy?"

"Sammy knows David, Paul and Eric mostly…" said John.

"That's weird, I'm close with Paul, Eric and obviously David, I never knew Sammy."

"He was basically the Doug of your group…"

"Ooh…that's mean."

John smiled.

"Yeah well, when you're here, we don't really worry about being nice."

"True."

"Anyway, you should get some sleep Aali…I'll see you in the morning, you can sleep now, right?"

Aali nodded, but she knew she wouldn't be sleeping that night, because after thinking about Danny, she though about how sweet John is to her. That was the last thing she needed.
