Shinji was sitting... Well, lying actually; on the summit of a grassy little hillock with an unknown weight on his right shoulder. He heard a sigh echo from the blue - haired girl lying so close he could feel her breathe.

 

“A...Ayanami-san?” Shinji Stuttered.

“Yes, Shin-kun? What is it? Is something bugging you?” Rei asked, seeming concerned.

“Well, um, no, except that, where are we, and why did you call me Shin-kun?” Shinji had been wondering this for a second when it slipped out.

“To answer your question, we are in your mind since you are daydreaming. And in answer to your second, is it alright if I call the one I love by that name?” She replied, noticing his discomfort.

“Okay...well, that's fine... Wait, love!?”

“Yes, Shin-kun... I love you.”

“You have no need to thank me, but you are welcome all the same.” Rei replied.

“I'm wondering something… If I'm daydreaming, then why are you here? Shinji asked.

“Your mind created me, and thus I exist here in your mind, and I here I will always remain unless you wish otherwise.” She said.

“One last thing, how long have we been here?” He asked.

“Time here passes as you please, be it 5 seconds, or 5 days.” Rei said.
