The smell of the ocean filled Shinji`s nostrals. The smell of blood hung in the air as well. She was in his arms when he awoke. Her,with her suit in tatters and tainted with blood. He was too tired to get up,so he just layed there with Asuka in his arms for what felt like an eternity. Finally he gathered the strength to get to his feet.

When he awoke,the sky was an amazing montage of reds,pinks,and blue. It looked as if the northern lights were arising. Shinji was bedazzled.

He looked back on the city he knew so well. It was now in pieces. Most everything had been distroyed in the after-math of Third Impact. He tried to arouse Asuka,but she would not stir.

He cried for help,for anyone to come and rescue him from this gaustly situation. But,his eforts were in vein,as there was no one left but Asuka and himself. He decied that he might as well go into town to check for survivors. He carried Asuka for as long as he could before he had to find a car to drive and put her in. He had never driven before,but since there was no one else around,he found no harm in it.

He found a few stores that were`nt completly damaged. He found some new clothes for himself and Asuka. Trying to get her clothed once again was definatly an obsacle,but he prevailed. After finding some food,he found a place where he and Asuka could stay the night,and they did so.

The next mourning,Shinji was awaked by the droning sound of a helecopter. It sounded close. He quickly sprinted outside to find any sign of a helecopter. A sudden gust began to pick up and abruptly it evolved into a grand gust of wind,channeled from a helecopter above. Shinji was covered with a sense of relief that he and Asuka were nolonger the last people on earth. Yet,he had a feeling of anxiety becase he did not know wheither they were decendants of SEELE or NERV.

The helecopter landed roughly 15 feet away from where Shinji was standing. He gazed at the helecopter and what the side revealed to Shinji. The helecopter had a symbol on its side that resembled that of the NERV symbol only it had the roman numeral 2 on the other side of the leaf. A trong of solidgers exited the helecopter and surrounded Shinji. They held their guns pointed in Shinji`s direction.

"Are you Shinji Ikari?" one of them asked.

Shinji was scared stiff by this point. But, he was suppose to die in the third impact,so he welcomed death with open arms.

"Yes,I`am."he said boldly.

"We are going to take you into our custody now. Refuse and we will fire. Now,put your hands in the air."

Shinji was bafeled by this statement and did as he was told. One of them came from behind him and put him in hand-cuffs. They escorted him away. He heard one of them say to another:"search the place high and low,don`t leave a thing unturned." The solidger responed with a,"ye`sir" and ran into the building to search,what Shinji knew,for Asuka.
