Neon Genesis Evangelion Fan Fiction ❯ Faint ❯ Chapter 1
Faint
Disclaimer: This is an Evangelion fanfic, but it's inspired by Linkin Park's song Faint, from their Meteora Album. This I do not own, and I definatlly don't own any Eva characters. They belong to Gainax. Faint belongs to Linkin Park and Warner Bro.'s music.
May I point out to all you fuckers who flamed me. I don't care. I know I'm a good writer, and who fucking cares if it's a little bit out of character. Like it matters. Every fanfiction takes the characters OOC, and every author does his or her own thing, and there is no such thing as a bad fic. Ok so some authors seem to have some problems typing out a consistent sentence, but most of the time the idea is good. And because of you twats who go around flaming people, telling them to never write again when it's their first fic, should go fuck yourselves. I have a feeling that you wrote like that when you started. Help them with constructive criticism, not flames. Now I'm off to write. Good-bye, you fucking loser flamers.
Authors Notes: Inspired by Faint and a scene from End of Evangelion. R & R appreciated.
"Shinji you stupid IDIOT!!" yelled Asuka, straight into Shinji's face.
"Explain to me again why I don't have any lunch!?" Shinji sighed, and said
"Sorry Asuka, I didn't have time to cook last night." He'd said sorry six times already and she still hadn't calmed down. But, that was Asuka. She had acted like this from the moment he'd met her.
"So I have to go hungry because you were being a lazy bastard!?" Shinji's slowly clenched and unclenched his fists as Asuka continued to rant on about him being an idiot. Shinji stood up sharply, startling Asuka into silence and said angrily
"Why don't you make your OWN FUCKING LUNCH!!" Asuka stared at him in shock. This was not the passive Shinji she was used to. There was anger in his eyes. Murderous anger. Asuka gulped and sat down, still staring at Shinji. Shinji stalked off, not noticing that the entire class had gone silent.
"Hey Toji" whispered Kensuke
SRK: Punctuation, please.
"Look." He pointed to the floor under Shinji's chair.
"Holy Crap!" gasped Toji.
"Blood."
Shinji stormed through the school, up the stairs and onto the roof. Breathing heavily, he leant against the rail and sat down.
He'd felt anger like this before, mainly when he talked to his father. Shinji felt the anger rising in him again as he thought about his father, threatening to take over.
He thought of Toji, but that made him think of when Toji had hit him. Thinking of Kensuke brought up the fact that he'd just stood there, not intervening. Dr. Akagi, Maya, Aoba, they all made him think of how they'd just watch him die, not being able to do anything to stop it. It had been Dr. Akagi's decision to sacrifice him and unit 01 to stop the 12th Angel less than a month ago. Shinji knew that it was for the benefit of all mankind, but he didn't care.
Misato was a slob, which always got on his nerves. Even thinking of his mother made him think that she'd left him on purpose. He knew it was selfish, but he couldn't stop himself. He could die tomorrow, and the only person who'd be at his funeral would be the minister and Misasto.
"Ikari" Came a voice from the door to the roof. A voice he knew. Shinji looked up. Rei. The one person that when he thought of them, there was no anger. She walked over to him and sat down next to him.
"Nobody cares." Mumbled Shinji. Rei looked at him and said "I care." Tears began to roll down Shinji's face. Rei put her arm around him and pulled him closer. They sat like that until the sun began to set behind them.
"I'm home." called Shinji hoarsely. His throat still hurt. A door slammed just before Misato's face appeared from the dining room.
"Shinji, can I talk to you?" she asked. Shinji nodded. He'd been dreading this. Misato was gonna yell, he'd be grounded, and she'd stop him from piloting for a while. When he thought about it that way though, he found that he didn't really care. Shinji put down his bag and walked into the dining room. Misato was sitting down already, so Shinji chose to sit opposite of her. He sat and stared at the table until Misato spoke.
"I heard about what happened today at school." She said quietly. Here it comes thought Shinji, grounding and probation.
"Are you alright?" Shinji looked up at these words, shocked. He had not expected this. He nodded uncertainly, and then shook his head firmly.
"I... haven't been alright for a while." Answered Shinji. He thought back to when his father had called for him, then further back, to when his father left him, to when... to when his mother died.
"Its okay, Shinji. I'm not mad." Said Misato.
"In fact, I'm surprised that you haven't exploded from all that anger you must be holding back." Shinji looked at her. There was a faint smile playing across her lips. Shinji found himself smiling, albeit uncertainly.
"Please," continued Misato "Tell me if you feel this way again. I want to help, but I can't if you don't tell me." Shinji nodded, then got up and left the room. Although he felt a little better, he could still feel the rage bubbling. It would boil over again, he knew, and he wouldn't be able to stop it.
Shinji thought about apologizing to Asuka, but decided against it. She probably wouldn't speak to him for several days anyway. Shinji opened the door to his room and looked inside. He walked in, picked up a pen and some paper.
He quickly wrote a note to Misato, telling her not to worry, and that he'd be back tomorrow. Rei had offered to let him stay at her apartment tonight, so that was where he would be going.
To hell with the rumours that it would start, he couldn't face Misato or Asuka again for a while. He packed some overnight things into a bag, then left as quietly as he could. Half an hour later, he pressed the Pin- Pom next to Rei's door. She answered quickly, then stepped aside to let him in, smiling faintly.
So what do you think? R & R constructively, no flames. Linkin Park rock.
