Neon Genesis Evangelion Fan Fiction ❯ Heaven Nor Hell ❯ Where is he? ( Chapter 4 )

Sorry for disappearing for such a long time but I had a major writer's block so my mind shut down for a long time, it's not as though I have a brain anyway. My friend still has my brain cells, I hope she returns them one day.

Well as a disclaimer I just want to say I own nada. It all belongs to other people, organizations, and even to God, just not me, sigh.

Hey for the record, does anyone want me to write a story for them. E-mail me, I'm offering to write stories for these anime:

Give me an outline and I'll write the story and put it up dedicated to the person who sent me the outline. And someone E-mail me, or chat with me on MSN, I'm so bored nowadays because I'm on Easter holidays for another week. Sigh. Well enjoy the story.

Kaworu allowed gentle laughter to drift through the room as he sat listening to the amusing stories Nathiel was narrating to him. Kaworu had spent the past few days with Nathiel on horseback rides, picnics and walks under the light of the moon but throughout the past few days, he had not seen another living being in his presence, not even the most basic living beings such as dogs and cats were seen near him. Kaworu sighed as he leaned backwards allowing his equilibrium to unbalance, as landed with a light thud on his back.

Nathiel shifted his attention to his young charge attracted to the feeling of unrest emanating from Kaworu's motionless form. With a peaceful aura shifting on the surface of his skin, lightly caressing the air and anything not excluding everything her lay hands on, Nathiel laid his hand lightly on Kaworu's abdomen as he smiled allowing himself to fall lightly beside Kaworu's still form, his hand still in contact with Kaworu's shirt, hand now resting lightly on Kaworu's chest. Nathiel lowered his voice to a whisper as he leaned close to Kaworu's ear, his breath lightly caressing the thin membrane of Kaworu's ear "What's wrong?" Kaworu shifted slightly away his body uncomfortable with such close contact with this man. Kaworu could not understand his aversion to being in intimate contact with Nathiel. This man was the only friend Kaworu possessed in this empty and forlorn place yet the closer Nathiel can to Kaworu the more Kaworu shied away desiring something else. Suddenly a flash of a young man with delicate features and gentle pain filled eyes framed by wild black hair looking at him in adoration flash through his mind causing him to fling his body upwards drawing away from Nathiel who was sprawled across the grass facing the place that Kaworu had resided just a few moments ago. Kaworu turned around and walked slowly away mumbling incoherent words trying to form a reason that could excuse his impolite exit, his mind thrown into chaos by the different emotions thrown violently into his mind, haunted by visions focused on a single pair of sea blue eyes filled with pain and streaks of longing that made Kaworu's mind whirl, as memories drifted into his mind, of that boy that haunted he being, his soul . . .

Kaworu smiled as the stars continued there ever present vigil on the beings below, every so often a single star would shine brighter than all the others call attention before dimming once more. Suddenly a shooting star streaked across the dark sky, illuminating the darkness before disappearing, it's brilliance expended in a single moment of utter beauty. Kaworu lay on the cold hard soil his hands clasped behind his head a smile lightly gracing his lips. Kaworu turned his head to the left just in time to watch Shinji's eyes lowered in concentration hands clasped almost in prayer the fading brilliance of the shooting star basking his face in light. As Shinji slowly opened his eyes Kaworu allowed the smile on his face to turn to a light chuckle causing Shinji to shift his head to view Kaworu's bemused features "What's wrong?" Kaworu only smiled as he said, "What did you wish for?"

"I can't tell you or else it won't come true."

Kaworu smiled as he lifted himself on one elbow and forcing his body forwards so that he was kneeling on the ground he clasped his hands as he faced Shinji who was still lying on the ground "Oh almighty one, tell me what you have wished for." Shinji giggled as he sat up and crossed his legs "No."

"Then you shall suffer the consequences."

Kaworu gave a cry as le leapt up and gripped Shinji by the middle and began to mercilessly tickle him drawing his fingers over Shinji's flesh in random patterns while maintaining his grip on Shinji as Shinji thrashed in his arms. Shinji's laughter tore through the air as Kaworu continued his assault; in a brief moment of weakness Shinji was able to tear his nimble body from Kaworu's surprisingly strong grip. Darting from Kaworu's grip Shinji thread through the trees trying to evade Kaworu's outstretched arms. As Shinji threw his head back to watch the location of Kaworu he did not see the root jutting from the ground before his felt his black school shoes strike the tip of the root and his body fall forward. Shinji cried out as he struck the cold hard floor lighting his body with the heat of pain. Kaworu gasped in shock and rushed forward tugging Shinji's body upright into his lap supporting Shinji's head with his shoulder. Shinji laughed, "I'm alright, it's not that bad, I only tripped." Shinji smiled weakly trying to ignore the pain that was lancing through his body as he shifted his left ankle. Pushing his body upright as the smile continued to remain on his face Shinji attempted to convince Kaworu of his well being. Shinji was able to maintain his smile but as soon as he put weight on he left foot he couldn't help but let out a sharp cry as the pain reached a crescendo and buckled he body once more falling to the soil but before he hit the ground he felt warm arms wrap securely around his body. Kaworu lurched forward as he saw Shinji's legs buckle beneath him, falling to the ground with Shinji, dragging the injured boy into his lap as they reached the floor "Your not alright. Come on I'll take you home." Shinji let out a brief cry of surprise as his body rose from the ground supported from shoulders and behind the legs. Shinji began to thrash in surprise and protest for his well being. Kaworu frowned in disapproval "Please Shinji, let me carry you back, it will make me feel better for making you fall." Shinji watched Kaworu's guilt ridden face from half lidded lashes and suddenly all the different protests died on his lips. Smiling Shinji nodded and laid his head lightly on Kaworu's shoulder closing his eyes, breath settling into a constant slow pattern.

Kaworu's frown disappeared from his features and his face lightened as he laid eyes on Shinji's closed eyes, face light and untroubled with sleep. Even the premature lines that lined Shinji's face were gone with the arrival of sleep. Smiling Kaworu walked down the path the trees lining either side of the path seeming to guard them from the outer world with their tall trunks and dense leaves.

The moon seemed to illuminate their figures with its white and pure rays. Slowly the figures disappeared their outlines still visible to any keen eye the moon still shining it's eternal light on these two figures wrapped up in the joy of each other.

Kaworu stopped in his tracks abruptly as a hand laid itself on his shoulder. Turning around Kaworu saw that it was Nathiel that had interrupted his reverie. With his memories fully restored once again Kaworu felt an overwhelming pain lance through his heart. The same pain that has started the onrush of memories, with anger clearly decorating his words Kaworu said, "Where is Shinji?" Nathiel's features twisted in anger . . .

Suzume- Thanks for liking my story, believe me, I talk to characters to. Once my mother found me talking to Kaworu and Shinji in my room, she gave me weird looks for the rest of the day.

Mysti- Thanks for the praise, hehehehehehe. But really, I'm a horrible writer.

Oh and yeah just for reference, Touji's dead too in my story. Hehehehehehehehe. Can you guess what part he's going to play in the story? If you can, tell me. I'll give you a prize. I don't know what the prize is but I'll think of something.

Send me a few reviews, I only got 2 last time, I wanted to discontinue it so if this doesn't get much recognition, I'll give up again. Sigh, please give me reviews or talk to me on MSN, I'll accept that, even E-mails. I'm so bored nowadays.

What will Nathiel do? Can Kaworu find Shinji? What has Kaji done to Shinji? Goodbye till next chapter.
