Chapter 2: "Where the hell are we?"

"Ugh..." Piro groaned as he started to regain consciousness. "Wha...?" He opened his eyes and sat up. Almost everyone from the party was scattered in a loose circle around him. The only one, other than him, that was awake, was Largo.

" Hey, Piro" said Largo dully. "I didn't mean for this to happen. All I wanted was a cure for a really bad hangover."

"Largo, I don't want to be mean, or anything, but I don't think that was a hangover cure!" snapped Piro "Baka...."

Over the next few hours, the rest of the crew woke up. Suddenly, Largo stood up and said "It's coming..." very mysteriously.

"What is coming L33tm4st3r?" said Junpei.

"I'll give you one clue. It's a song. The first line of the lyrics is: "Like an angel with no sense of mercy, Rise young boy, to the heavens like a legend" Largo said in a sing-song voice.

"The angels, correct?" said, rather surprisingly, Miho.

"Correct" replied Largo. "The Tenth Angel, Sahaquiel, will come upon us very soon."

Focus Change

NERV Headquarters, Tokyo-3, The year 2015

"Dammit" yelled Misato Katsuragi, acting commander of NERV. "Are the EVA units in position yet, Hyuga?"

"Almost" replied Hyuga, a tech working for NERV. " We're working on the final projected landing area. We'll be done in two minutes."

"We don't have two minutes" barked Misato "Hurry up!!"

"OK, we've got it" said Hyuga, one minute and 27 seconds later.

"Deploy the EVAs around the drop area." ordered Misato "All right, you three, any questions on the plan?"

"I have none" Said Rei Ayanami, the First Child.

"I do" said Asuka Langley Soryu, the Second Child. "After we catch this thing, what do we do"

"What else?" replied Misato. "One of you has to stab the Angel with your Progressive Knife"

'I should have figured that' thought Asuka 'After all, I am the best EVA pilot here!'

"You ready, Shinji?" called Misato.

All that was heard from Shinji Ikari, the Third Child, was a brief mutter.

"Speak up, Shinji" Misato grumbled "We don't have time for this crap!"

"I'm ready" growled Shinji.

"Is it just me, or has Shinji been a little snappish lately?" Misato asked Ritsuko Akagi, the chief scientist at NERV.

"A happy and cheerful Shinji would be even stranger" replied Ritsuko

"You're just an old bitch" Misato grumbled

"The old part was uncalled for" Ritsuko muttered.

Suddenly, alarms went off all around the command center.

"It's here!" shouted Misato. "All EVA units start! Magi is estimating fall point in area C1! You know what to do!"

"Oh, great" muttered Asuka "A park. Now civvies get to see EVA units in action. Hope no one gets hurt..."

Focus Change

The aforementioned park

"Largo, what are you talking about?" asked Piro "What do you mean 'The Tenth angel is Upon us'?"

"I mean what I said" replied Largo, very calmly "The tenth angel, Sahaquiel, is upon us"

"Wait a friggin second" yelled Dom "Are you saying that this is Tokyo-3, it's 2015, and a giant eyeball with arm-things is going to fall almost on TOP OF OUR HEADS!!!!"

"Exactly" said Largo in a very nonplused fashion. "In a couple of minutes, three giant bio-mechanical robots will come storming into the park, and catch Sahaquiel. The one marked 02 will then stab Sahaquiel in the... eye, I guess."

"Then if a giant... thing is going to land right where we are, shouldn't we get out of here?" asked Nanasawa-San.

"No" replied Largo "We must stay here and assist the EVA pilots. I intend to project an AT field. We may lose our ego boundaries, but that is the least of our worries."

Focus Meshing

Units 00 and 02 took off running at a really high speed, but Unit 01 just sat there, in a crouched position.

"Shinji, what the hell are you doing?!?!?" yelled Misato.

"Uh..." muttered Shinji. He caused Unit 01 to start running forward really fast.

"Nine kilometers up!!" yelled Aoba, another NERV tech.

'Damn!' thought Shinji.

Slowly, a glowing hole appeared in the clouds above Tokyo-3. The Tenth Angel, Sahaquiel, fell through the hole.

"Here it comes!!" cried Aoba "2km and falling"

"AT Field at maximum!" shouted Shinji, as he piloted Unit 01 into position. "What the...? Misato, there's civilians in the middle of the park! I nearly stepped on one of them!"

"What...? No way! We evacuated that area weeks ago!" yelled Misato "Well, just forget about them now, Shinji. Just catch that Angel!!!"

"Ummm...., Largo?" Piro stared up at the sky in bewilderment. "There's something up there."

"Sahaquiel has arrived." said Largo in a very calm voice "Please stay calm, all of you. I need to focus."

Suddenly, a giant green and purple thing, covered in armor, dashed into the park, nearly stepping on Miho and Ed. It braced itself, and flung it's hands skyward. The Angel was caught by the EVA unit. Suddenly, an AT field appeared underneath the center of the Angel. It was Largo. He was helping out Unit 01 by pushing on the Angel with his AT field. Units 00 and 02 rushed into the park, neatly sidestepping trees as they ran. They braced themselves and threw their hands up to help Unit 01 hold up the Angel. Then, extremely quickly, the MT crew started losing their outlines and became fuzzy around the edges.

"Piro-san, what's happening?" screamed Ping, her bright blonde hair becoming less and less vivid by the second.

"We are losing our ego boundaries" called Largo. "I had a good time knowing you guys. I will miss you all."

The whole MT crew lost their outlines and disappeared, but their souls gravitated toward the person in Tokyo-3 each one was most like, and was absorbed.

"Woah!" cried Maya Ibuki, the third command room tech. "I just saw something really strange. It looked like an ORANGE wave pattern, but it's gone now."

"An orange wave pattern..." Ritsuko mused "...I wonder what would make an orange wave pattern..."

"Um... Major?" said Aoba. "Something weird just flashed on my screen. It looked like the pilots had a second synch pattern outside their own. Kind of like a second mind..."

"Impossible!" exclaimed Misato. "How could there be a second mind?"

"I don't know, Major, but I know what I saw." replied Maya.

"Well, lets just retrieve the EVAs and debrief the pilots"

The Pilots had defeated Sahaquiel while they were talking. Asuka, in Unit 02, had stabbed the Angel with her Progressive Knife, piercing its S2 organ, defeating it.
