Chapter 1- Shinji

NERV command was in a state of pure chaos. SEELE's MP EVAs were attacking, and only three NERV EVAs were operational. Units 00, 02, and 03 were battling the nine MP EVAs, and barely holding their ground. The fake Spears of Longinus were doing their jobs very effectively, and the three NERV EVAs couldn't hold on much longer. Suddenly, 1st Lt Maya Ibuki noticed something strange. "Um... Sempai? There's something on my screens."

Her superior, Doctor Ritsuko Akagi, came over to see what it was. "Maya, please tell me this is just static, because if this is correct, there's an angel out there"

"No, sempai. I've checked, double checked, and triple checked. There is a blue wave pattern out there."

Just then, Major Misato Katsuragi, the Tac-Com came over to see what was going on. "OK, what's going on, Ritsu?"

"Maya detected a blue wave pattern" Ritsuko replied "We're trying to pin it down, but we can't. It keeps... well... _jumping_ around. It's really confusing" Ritsuko finished, sounding peeved.

Misato groaned "A blue wave pattern?? _NOW??_ Please tell me you're kidding"

"Nope"

"Gawd, I need a beer" Misato grumbled.

Just then the door to command slid open with a hiss. In walked Shinji Ikari, the Third Child, and recent recipient of an S2 organ. "What's up, you guys" he asked, sounding as if he'd just gotten married. Everyone just _stared_ at the third child, wondering how he could be so happy.

"Ummm... Shinji... If you haven't noticed, your friends are in a life or death struggle out there" Misato sweatdropped, sounding incredulous.

"I know" said Shinji, causing everyone to facefault painfully. "I just feel _happy_ for some reason. Almost if I'm high on power...."

Just then, one of the MP EVAs decided to stop playing around, and stabbed Unit 02 in between the eye. Shinji suddenly turned serious as he heard the screams of the girl he loves. A bright flash filled the command center. Misato shielded her eyes, blinded. "What the hell...?" As her vision cleared, she saw Shinji... or what looked like him, anyway.
