Chapter 4: Riho's Night With Cain
Riho couldn't believe how stupid she had been! She was falling into the same trap Shido probably did years ago. All a vampire gets for a human heart and showing sympathy is rotten luck and control freaks for a sire and grandsire.
Cain snapped her out of her thoughts by cupping her ass and grinding into her. She blushed prettily. Well, as much as a vampire could blush anyway. And no matter how much she denied it, Cain was attractive, in that mysterious and dangerous kind of way. Cain didn't ooze sexiness like Shido, though. After all, to her, Shido was drop dead sexy. Literally. Her sire really was one to behold. It had turned her on when Shido had checked her out before she left.
All of these thoughts of Shido had her getting aroused, and Cain thought that it was because of him. Because they had an acute sense of smell, vampires could discern emotions such as fear, happiness, and arousal just because of someone's scent.
Cain leaned down to whisper in her ear once more as he took control of her body with his blood bond. "My sweet Riho, how ashamed Shido would be to see you now. I really do love the innocence that comes with being a fledgling," her grandsire taunted in her ear.
Using their blood bond, Cain forced Riho to leave the club with him. She knew it was very dangerous to leave with a cold-blooded killer, but what choice did she have? When Cain or Shido exerted their control over her, she had no control over her body or movements. She did have her mind, though. Riho was working overtime trying to find a way out of the predicament she had gotten herself into.
Riho knew that if Cain still held this type of control over Shido, he would use it. Luckily for her sire, with age comes resistance. Shido could resist and break any control Cain tried to wield over him. Although, Cain could still send him nightmares and hallucinations, and Shido hadn't managed to retrieve his memories yet.
Riho was deadly afraid that Cain would try to use her as a hostage or a bargaining tool against Shido. She still hadn't fully come to terms with her being a vampire, nor had she learned to use the extra strength and agility that came with being undead. Shido, Guni, and Yayoi would be so disappointed in her helpless situation. She didn't want them to have to come save her every time she messed up. Furthermore, Riho knew her mind could be torn apart and she could go insane if Cain and Shido tried to control her at the same time. She had no doubt that they both would want her to do different things, and it would tear her mind apart.
Riho also knew that Cain would try to force her into spending the night with him. Even though he was attractive enough, she just couldn't imagine her first time being with him. When she was little, she had always thought that she would get married to Prince Charming and would be whisked away to some far away castle. Now that she was a vampire, she knew that it wasn't going to happen. Fairy tales were a lie, and nothing could change that. The only truth that average mortals even close to was the `fictional' American television shows, Angel and Buffy the Vampire Slayer. As far as she knew, there was no actual Slayer, but Shido or Yayoi could fit the part.
After they left the sexual-tension filled club, Riho was starting to get nervous. Cain had led her into a mysterious black stretch limo with painted windows and pulled her onto his lap. After she was seated `comfortably,' he placed a dark blindfold over her eyes. Even with her keen vampire eyesight, she couldn't see through the dark cotton material. Riho realized that Cain was trying to prevent her escape. If she couldn't see anything, or tell where they were going, she couldn't get back. Also, he was making her rely on him for any security he may provide. She was a blind woman being controlled and led around by her seeing-eye dog. Now, the situation seemed even more helpless.
Riho sighed with her non-existent breath and leaned into the golden-haired vampire behind her. She was starting to get hungry, and that wasn't a good sign. Riho knew that she made Cain swear that nobody would be hurt because of them, but what was the chance that he'd have some blood from the butcher's shop in the refrigerator? She knew the probability of that was slim to none. If she didn't find Yayoi or another blood donor soon, she would either starve or take a life. Both of those weren't options for her.
Suddenly, as if sensing her hunger, Cain lifted something to her mouth. He spoke for the first time since entering the club, "Drink darling. Don't worry; it's not human blood. I anticipated that you would only take blood from the butcher."
Riho drank the liquid and it left a burning trail down her throat. That wasn't what bothered her, though. She had drunk far worse before. Cain was a dangerous captor, and she would need to use her wits to escape him. But he seemed to know her too well.
Riho frowned. How could he have known that she was going to that club tonight? The only person she had told her plans to was Shido. Unless he had been spying, he couldn't have known and prepared ahead of time. Also, if he knew her honor for human life, he had to have been watching her. Riho shuddered at the idea of a rage-filled Cain staring at Shido and her in the coffin they shared. It was not a good image for her partially innocent mind. Shido had never tried anything; he was always the perfect gentleman. Besides, he always seemed too hung up on Yayoi to even notice her in that way. She always thought that he viewed her as a little sister, close friend, or even a ward that he had to take care of. Lately though, she had caught him staring at her hungrily, letting his hands wander when they hugged, and `accidentally' peeking on her in the shower.
The vision of Shido's face when she had slid on his lap tonight before leaving for the club was still ingrained in her mind. Now, Riho wished she had stayed and taken care of her sire instead of heading for a `fun' time at the club. Cain was turning out to be more devious that her previous encounters with him had led her to believe. Even though Shido had been the one to actually sire her, Cain had left her bleeding to death in Shido's hands. Cain had always seemed so straightforward before; his love for Shido and his violent disdain for Riho were apparent.
Riho was viciously jerked out of her thoughts as the limo came to a screeching halt. Cain slid her off of his lap and exited the limo. Once he was out of the car, he turned to Riho and safely led her to the sidewalk. Cain turned to his mansion as his limo sped away. He shook his head, his fledgling driver really had to control himself more.
Startling Riho, Cain tore the blindfold from her head. Once she got her bearings, she looked at Cain's mansion. She couldn't help but gasp. It was a beautiful Victorian house on the outskirts of Tokyo! The only time you saw a house like this in Japan was in history books and on the Internet. The white mansion was huge! Riho knew that to have this much property and this big of a house anywhere near Tokyo was very expensive. That, or he killed for it. Riho blanched at this idea and forcefully shoved it out of her mind.
Cain then summoned her body to walk alongside him as they strolled on the cobblestone path leading up to the great Victorian mansion. He hadn't said a word in a while and it was really starting to creep her out. Riho couldn't stand the silence, but the hold he had on her prevented her from speaking. If there was one thing Riho despised and feared, it was being caged and controlled. It was just one of the reasons why Shido had never controlled her before through their blood bond. Unluckily for her, it also meant that she had no resistance toward it.
As they entered the mansion, Riho got a fierce sense of foreboding. It was another trait that she inherited as a vampire; the ability to sense when something is amiss. Riho got even more anxious as Cain led her up sets of twisted stairways. Riho's mind started to object even more fiercely to the journey when Cain walked her through an old oak door. Yet, her body followed obediently like a well-trained puppy.
Suddenly, all the anxiousness and fright inside Riho snapped the mental hold Cain had on her. The after affects of the bond snapped back at him like a rubber band as he clutched his head in pain. Riho wasted no time in turning tail and running down the twisted stairwell, paying no heed to the fact that she had just broken Cain's control over her and that she didn't know how to escape. Once she reached the iron-knobbed door that signaled her escape was in sight, she felt Cain's presence behind her. Riho nicked a small gash in her finger and turned to face her grandsire. Her once beautiful blue eyes were burning amber. As she turned, she cracked the whip to halt Cain's approach. From the pain the whip seared into his stomach, and the shock that Riho had the ability to do such a thing, Cain stopped for just a second. It was all Riho needed though, and she quickly fled through the large door.
Cain let her leave; he could use it to his advantage. Besides, he didn't want another lash of that whip. Her weapon was very powerful for a vampire her age. She had only been a vampire for a few weeks, and yet she could break the strong mind control he had over her, hadn't let her mind be controlled by blood lust, and could construct a weapon that strong from only her blood. Shido hadn't been able to break his control for years and he himself couldn't form a weapon that strong until he was nearly a decade old. Cain lifted up his silk shirt and stared at his stomach. There, burned across his flesh, was his grandchilde's name, Riho.

With Shido
Shido could only stare at the door in which Riho had left. He was shocked. His temping childe had slid onto his lap in that ridiculously short skirt while saying goodbye. Shido wouldn't let anyone know it, but he was worried about her. What if that vampire Seth was still out there? The vampire had beaten him and escaped. It was a rare thing indeed for a breed or anything else to escape from Shido, let alone beat him in a fight and leave him hurt.
Most of his superficial wounds had already healed, thanks to a vampire's accelerated healing. Shido wasn't worried about human men taking advantage of his not-so-innocent-anymore Riho. After all, she could take care of herself; she was a vampire and his childe at that. It was the increase in the male population of vampires since Cain had arrived. Female vampires were very rare these days. Most of them were `Betty's,' or sex toys. They were only used for entertainment for strong male vampires. No free female vampires roamed the streets of Tokyo at all. Shido had annihilated them all himself. Male vampires were looking for new conquests. She wasn't trained at all and wouldn't be able to fight back.
Shido was starting to worry himself out of his mind. All of a sudden, he sprang up from his resting place on the couch, completely ignoring his wounds; they would be healed by the time he got to the club. Shido knew that Riho was going to the hit teen club that was a few miles from here. If he used his vampiric speed, he would be there in a few minutes.
Suddenly, Guni flew out of his hair and started to annoy him. She pulled on his ears, floated above his head, and taunted him.
"Don't worry Shido. I'm sure she's just fooling around with some vampires at this club of hers. Did you see the way she was dressed? She looked like some kind on undead hooker. What a skank. You should really stay here. I'm sure she can take care of herself. And if not, I guess she can always get someone else to take care of her for the day. Hmm?" Guni kept on babbling. Shido knew that if she didn't stop insulting his childe he was going to seriously hurt her. Riho wasn't a slut. She was an innocent, even if she was dressing quite provocatively before she left.
As he opened the door and got ready to leave his office, Yayoi stopped him. She gave him a glare and pushed him back into his office rudely.
"Riho told me to keep an eye on you to make sure you didn't follow her. She's a big girl Shido; she can take care of herself. I'm sure your worried about her, but stop acting like an overprotective older brother," Yayoi admonished.
Shido's POV
Damnit. I don't want to be her brother; I want to be her lover. Woah. Where did that come from? I know I'm attracted to her, but I can't just steal her innocence like that. Why am I so concerned with keeping her innocent? I really do not know the answer to that. I just know I couldn't stand it if she changed and started to hate me. I love her with all my heart. Oh god, I am going insane now. I just thought to myself that I love Riho. She may be very attractive, innocent, kind, pure, sweet, beautiful, gorgeous, caring… Okay, I have to stop thinking of her that way. I'm sure she doesn't feel the same.
Regular POV
"Shido," Yayoi began, "you can't leave now anyway. You're hurt and Riho would never forgive herself if you got yourself injured further trying to protect her. Do you really want her to act as if she's stepping on glass around you all the time? She has to make her own mistakes, just like you and me." Shido could tell that Yayoi was trying to prevent him from going into full-blown hysteria from the absence of his childe, but could you blame him? She was the light of his undead life, and she wouldn't trade her for anything, even his memories.
