The air was hot, screams rang through the air, and all she could do was watch. Fires danced about burning everything they touched. Every scream brought a cold tear to her eye. She gripped her silk dress, wearing out the material.

"I have to help them." she turned on her heel and ran to the door. Her sweaty hands slipped from the brass handle as she pulled as hard as she could.

"Open the door!" she screamed. A calm and deep voice answered back sadly.

"I would my love but I don't want you or Taya to get hurt. You are safe in there."

"But they are my people too! I must stop the suffering!"

"You can never stop it! As long as the Tide Clan survives there will be suffering. And I will keep my daughter away from it all!" the voice faded and was soon gone. The queen turned to look at the cradle behind her. She walked over to it and slowly reached into the soft sheets covering a beautiful baby.

"I'm so sorry Taya," she touched the baby's hand and then picked her up, "you don't desesrve this." Suddenly the door burst open and a man heavily covered in burned armor burst in.

"You must leave! They are too strong." the man pulled out a map and pointed to a river.

"Wait there for me."

"I'll wait forever for you." the queen grabbed the baby and fled from the room. She ran from the burning kingdom holding the baby closley to her, soldiers following close behind. Her feet began to feel hot as she kept running, looking desperatley for water. Soon afterwards the dirt began to feel moist and the queen spotted the winding water. She ran towards it unaware of the danger abover her. Suddenly the queen fell to her knees clutching her right shoulder. A silver-blue sword incrested with blue and green jewels seemed to be floating above her. It wasn't until she hit the ground that she saw the body. Blood leaked from the queen's back as she listened to the sound of a baby crying and the screams of a man fighting. With all her strength, she pulled the baby closer and whispered into her ear.

"I love you."

Stern and cold she watched from her room at the villagers below. The kingdom was busy that day. A festival was starting. The door creaked behind her and a man walked in holding a satin red dress.

"His highness requires you to wear this for the festival tonight." the man squeaked.

"Tell father I won't be going. If I have to look at that damn face again I'm going to kill him myself!" she growled.

"But Princess Taya! Your father request that you try it on for when you meet Prince Balon today." Taya grabbed the dress, threw it over her head, then threw it back into the man's face.

"There! It fits! No leave me!" she screamed. The man sighed and left.

"I hate my life."

The sword gleaming on his back, his light blue eyes focused, and his ears listening, Kito sat high on a tree branch. He peered through his telescope at the festival, searching.

"Where are you princess? C'mon so I can kill you. Hell. I don't even know what she looks like!" he jumped off the branch and walked through, looking at all the shops. He stopped at a dingy pub and slipped up onto a wooden stool. A woman wearing a skin tight red dress sat down next to him. She immediatley started to guzzle down whiskey bottles. Kito just stared at her with amazement.

"Wow. I would like to know how someone your age could take that much whiskey." he finally said. The girl smiled and drunk some more.

"I'm only 16." she said crookedly.

" Well then I feel good that I'm not the only teen here. I'm 17."

"Good for you!" the girl laughed. Kito looked around and wondered why the pub was empty, it was full before the girl came in.

"Hey, do you know why everyone left?"

"I'm the prin-the festival has some new attractions. This whiskey is kinda makin' me horny." Taya scooted herself closer to the bewildered stranger and immediatley stuck her tounge down his throat. Kito was so surprised he lost his balance and fell to the floor. He started to get up when he felt Taya's soft lips on his again. Absentmindedly he pulled her closer to him and pushed his tounge into her mouth. Happy with his choice Taya set down her whiskey flask and proceeded to take off Kito's armor. Her hand wondered over his sword and she slipped it off quickly and made a giggle when she felt her dress slip off her naked body. For the first time she noticed his grayish-blue hair and his bright blue eyes, and strangley she saw a flashback of a tall, man carrying a sword chasing her. She tried to brush the vision but each time she was close to him she saw that man. Finally she broke the kiss and pulled her dress back on. Kito sighed and sat up.

"What's wrong?" he asked. Taya stared blankly for a minute before she answered.

"You remind me of a really bad memory. A bad one." she said sheepishly.

"Sorry. Well, since we can't finish-," the door flew open and five guards were standing in the doorway. One ran forward and pointed his sword at Kito's neck.

"How dare you touch the princess!" he growled. Taya immedialtey stood up and stared at the sword. Kito's was completley shocked, and it took him a few seconds to realize his current situation. Thinking quickly he jabbed the guard in the face and dived for his sword. The rest of the guards immediatley closed in, one accidentally pushing Taya into the wall where she fell unconcious. Kito pulled his sword from it's sheaf and in one clean swipe took two guards out. Three guards pulled out their swords and rushed forward. Kito warded off one and ducked under his arm stabbing him from behind. The other two hesitated a look of pure fear on their faces. Kito took this advantage to grab a dead guard's sword and threw it at the closest guard. The last guard growled and ran forward. Blood leaked to the floor as Kito thrust his sword forward into the guard's stomach. He slid his sword back into his sheaf and rushed over to Taya. He threw her over his shoulder and ran from the pub and from the kingdom, killing the gate guards as he went. He ran deep into the forest and stopped at a large tree. He set Taya against the trunk and kneeled infront of her. Slowly he moved her hair away from her eyes.

"Hey. Princess. Wake up." he gently shook her shoulders until he saw her golden-brown eyes open. Taya seemed startled at first but when she found herself in his arms she felt safe.

"Where am I?" Kito didn't answer, but instead he put on a serious face.

"Are you Princess Taya?" he asked roughly.

"Why?"

"Are you or are you not!?" he snapped. Taya suddenly felt scared.

"Yes! Yes I am! Please don't hurt me!" she screamed.

"Keep it down! If you are, then what were you doing in a place like that?"

"Just cause I'm royal doesn't mean I can't have fun. And, I didn't want to attend my own "surprise" proposal." Taya felt her cheeks grow hot when she saw what position they were in. She was propped against a tree and he was crouching on top of her legs with his hands on her shoulders. She seemed a little surprised when she studied Kito's face. It seemed he was deciding something. Kito got up and started to walk back and forth. Shit! How was I supposed to know she was the princess! She's so beautiful, how can I kill someone like her? I have to decide now. Kito glanced at Taya for a second. Shit!! I can't kill her. But she can't go back cause she knows what I look like. Kito walked back to Taya and pulled her on her feet.

"Let's go." he ordered.

"Go where!?" Taya asked, slightley scared.

"You'll see when we get there." Kito said. Taya eyes grew wide and she immediatley sprinted into the forest screaming. Kito rolled his eyes and ran after her. He passed her quickly and was able to surprise her by jumping ontop of her and pinning her to the ground. Taya squirmed but realizing she couldn't get free accepted defeat and forced herself to look into his eyes. Kito smirked at her angry face.

"We just wasted alot of time. Now, listen to me. You're not coming back. Ever. Once I dump you somewhere, you can die trying. But because I don't want to get caught by thousands of guards, you're coming with me."

"Where are we going?"

"A very peaceful village far away from here. It's called Arlia." Taya's face softened and she loosened up so that she wasn't tense anymore.

"You'll let me go once we get there, right?"

"Yes. As long as I don't kill you on our way there." Kito stood up and adjusted his sword.

"C'mon
