It had been three days since they had left the sky island and a small pack had formed within the crew. According to Nami, they still had time to reach the next island. They had not yet experienced a change of seasons. Meanwhile, the newly formed pack often spent time together. They were clearly beginning to carry the scents of each other. Sanji really wanted to be involved with them but… But…
“Hey Sanji!”
Sanji, who was washing the dishes looked at Usopp.
“Yo Usopp, what is it? We just ate, man.”
“I didn't come for food. I wanted to ask something."
"I am listening."
"I was thinking about Luffy's offer."
“The Pack thing?”
"Yeah yeah. Look, I really want to be a pack with them but… you know me man.”
Sanji looked at him with strange eyes. What was he trying to say?
“What nonsense are you on, Usopp? Let the cat out of the bag."
"Now yes I am supreme captain Usopp and I have 8,000 soldiers at my disposal and-"
“Yeah yeah.”
“But that's not the case. I'm just a good liar and…”
“Usopp?”
"I'm pretty weak compared to them and Luffy doesn't deserve someone weak in his pack, right?"
Usopp has always been someone with self-confidence issues, but to think of it at this stage...
“Hahaha.”
“Oi why are you laughing? I'm pretty serious here."
"No, I thought you were an idiot, but I didn't expect it to this extent."
"What it means-"
“My point is, Usopp, everyone has different things they're good at, and I don't think you're weak. No one in this crew is weak and believe me they deserve their place in the pack just like everyone else deserves their place in the crew."
"Do you really think so?"
"I'm not the liar, am I?"
"But man, I'm scared."
Fear is a very natural feeling. Especially when you are on the verge of such a big decision. Being a pack was irreversible. You couldn't say I gave up. You would put your life on the line and they would lay down their lives for you.
“Of what?”
“The thought of losing one of the crew is terrifying, while the thought of losing one of my pack… A bond like that is so scary Sanji.”
"I know."
"And me-"
“Usopp?”
"Yeah?"
“How much do you trust our captain?”
"To Luffy? More than anything."
"What about that stupid Marimo?"
“Again, more than anything else, unless it's about sense of direction.”
“If you enter the pack, Luffy will be your pack leader and head omega. Marimo will be Head alpha. How reassuring do you think that is?”
“Sanji…”
The two were silent for a while. Sanji gave him some time to think, while continuing to wash the dishes. Usopp soon began to help him.
“Thank you Sanji. Thanks to you, I was able to make my decision.”
"What's your decision?"
“I will join them. But not yet.”
"Why?"
“Why don't you join Sanji?”
“I… I'm not ready yet.”
"Me too. I want to wait until it's ready."
“Very reasonable.”
So they both continued to wash the dishes, laughing, unaware of an ear listening to them.
