The doors close and he enters the heat
And already sweat beads on his skin.
The dark inside makes his excitement rise
And he rushes to sate his mistress.
He can taste her hot breath
Heavy there on his tongue
And his muscles strain and heave
To help his lady form a new life.
Her cries are loud and shrill in his ears
As their child begins to emerge.
His body strains and his breath comes short
And at last he can see his son.
He bathes their child and inhales his first cry,
While across town a good woman weeps –
For she's been replaced yet again by the forge.
And already sweat beads on his skin.
The dark inside makes his excitement rise
And he rushes to sate his mistress.
He can taste her hot breath
Heavy there on his tongue
And his muscles strain and heave
To help his lady form a new life.
Her cries are loud and shrill in his ears
As their child begins to emerge.
His body strains and his breath comes short
And at last he can see his son.

While across town a good woman weeps –
For she's been replaced yet again by the forge.
