This is a poem about the feeling that words can kill; not physically, but mentally.
Although I rated it T - Teen, I don't really think it is. I'm just over cautious.
Disclaimer: This poem is mine. I created it out of my own (at the time) miserable emotions, and my emotions would find themselves on something of a murderous rampage if anyone claimed (for whatever reason) that they were the creators of this.

Breaking Truths
My heart stops.
Drained by the words I hear you say,
My face pales.
My senses twist your words,
Trying not to hear them.
Or to change them somehow.
Glimmering echoes of a lie,
Floating through my mind.
The truth refuses to die.
Breaking through the lies,
Tearing down the walls.
Threatening to plunge into my unbeating heart.
Why did you say those words?
Why do you rip down my hopes?
Imagination cannot quell these questions.
The truth will not be tamed.
It crashes through my head,
To the centre of my soul.
To the place I tried to hide.
Where I tried to hide to escape those words.
They scream to me, resonating through my mind.
Words can kill.
