Well, perhaps not

A Happy Ending

Something has gone wrong

I am left in the dark

In the How's and Why's

My mom and Case, the step dad

Might be getting a divorce

She's gone apartment hunting

While I am here

At mom's co-worker's home

Minding and caring for their kids

My new job, as a live-in babysitter

What will happen to me

When I am not needed?

A place to call home

Is not so assured anymore

I will miss my step siblings dearly

I even consider them

As true siblings, of my own kin

I hope to all eternal beings

That this family will not be

Torn apart.

I hate divorces

They make me feel unsure

Of my place in this world.
