Melody of the Mind
The young boy, barely thirteen,
Opened the case and prepared a line.
He drew his fingers and plucked the strings.
From the guitar, his soul did spring.
The melody played from his mind.
His eyes closed caught up in the rhyme.
He loved her so.
The young man, twenty five.
Smiled lovely and held his wife.
A song of joy and a healthy tone.
He preached to the world with a microphone.
The melody played from his mind.
His eyes closed caught up in the rhyme.
He loved her so.
Young man, age twenty six.
Prepared the stage and clenched his fists.
An audience sat in silence now.
The young man let his emotions aloud.
His song showed of wondrous bliss.
The audience cheered and pumped their fists.
He loved her so.
The man, hitting fifty nine.
His fingers aching as he prepared a line.
He relaxed his hands and held his wife,
And whispered words of paradise.
Though his body had passed its prime,
The eternal rhythm continued in his mind.
He loved her so.
He closed his eyes, in old age.
His wife gone, and buried in her grave.
His body too old to act the star.
His hands too weak to hold the guitar.
But even in his dying mind.
The world listened to his eternal rhyme.
They loved him so.
Sometime, in some other place.
Another person, another face.
Young at heart and old at soul.
Picked up a guitar and played a note.
The melody played eternally.
Waiting for someone to pluck the strings.
They loved it so.
