Tell me it was not in vain

The anger and the misery

I long for it to have a purpose

And I wish you'd not deny me that right

In truth, I am afraid of fighting

Of bitter wedges between hearts

Cold words you can't truly take back

That can still freeze you in your tracks

All those years later

And you have to try your hardest

Never to look back

So you can avoid the pain in brings

But it's hard not to look

When you feel something behind you
