Lingering Snow:
`Twas winter passed,
Whence I visited last,
The grave, lying amongst the shrouds,
Whereupon the last snow still clouds.
Whence I visited last,
The grave, lying amongst the shrouds,
Whereupon the last snow still clouds.
I walked past the others,
Whence the snow still slithers,
Her fragrance still lingers,
Coalescing with the stony markers.
Whence the snow still slithers,
Her fragrance still lingers,
Coalescing with the stony markers.
I lay down the cherry blossom,
Hugging the marker to my bosom,
Tears streak the pallid cover,
Whence we last laid her.
Hugging the marker to my bosom,
Tears streak the pallid cover,
Whence we last laid her.
Memories- oh so fickle!
Yet how they pinch and pickle!
Can I not grasp?
Whence we last clasp.
Yet how they pinch and pickle!
Can I not grasp?
Whence we last clasp.
Dawn breaks through,
And I remember you,
Your face fearless,
Dauntless-an angel, never in distress,
And I remember you,
Your face fearless,
Dauntless-an angel, never in distress,
I smile, remembering once more,
That though our footsteps have gone sour,
Covered up by the lingering snow,
I know-
Her fragrance will always follow,
Lingering within my bosom,
Coalescing with the fallen cherry blossom.
That though our footsteps have gone sour,
Covered up by the lingering snow,
I know-
Her fragrance will always follow,
Lingering within my bosom,
Coalescing with the fallen cherry blossom.
