Original Poetry Fan Fiction ❯ Poems ❯ cave of departure ( Chapter 9 )
[ T - Teen: Not suitable for readers under 13 ]
The Cave of Departure is a magical place.
It's the start,
And the end,
Of everyone's destiny yet to come.
On the wall of moving pictures,
See your path ahead.
You will receive
And you will give
Will your journey be a short one?
Or will it take a lifetime?
All great journeys start here.
Know what you are looking for before you go in.
Stay on course or you will fail.
Come one and all to the Cave of Departure.
Here comes Zelda Boffin,
She comes from the Whitafurrows of Babylon.
The trip was long,
And merciless,
Through thick and thin she traveled on.
Fighting the beasts she came upon,
She reached it upon the hour of no shadow,
Hungry and cold,
The trees were bare,
The snow had yet to fall.
She climbed up the Rain Mountain,
Her hands raw and bare.
To find her family's murder,
So he can die at her hands.
For her baby brother,
And her mother,
The two who she had sworn to protect.
But that is not what she foresaw on the walls
The walls did not show her killing a man,
No,
it showed her killing a beast.
A beast that flew on mighty wings,
His body covered in scales as hard as armor.
It was the terrifying firedrake.
She was not fighting it with a bow and arrow,
Nor with a mighty sword,
But with magic.
And she was not alone.
A man stood by her side.
He was holding a stone as bright as can be
A gruesome scar marred his face,
With eyes as black as coal.
It's the start,
And the end,
Of everyone's destiny yet to come.

A gruesome scar marred his face,
With eyes as black as coal.
So Zelda took away the gifts before her,
Giving back what she had on her
she turned to the light and walked forth
Her destiny was about to begin.
I am the bearer of soul stone,
You can call me Mungo,
And my job is to protect,
Which I do very well.
Many scars mar me.
One of them I bare on my face,
Its ghastly charm makes people turn away.
I have no family any more,
The all died a long time ago,
So now I'm all alone.
I look for a firedrake.
One that I met long ago,
I must free its soul,
It is trapped in the stone.
Now a mindless beast,
Destroying all in its path.
I know I will need help,
From a girl I have yet to meet.
We will find each other when the time is right.
I now wait for our destinies to arise.
A month has passed,
Since that fateful day.
They had met
she turned to the light and walked forth
Her destiny was about to begin.

A month has passed,
Since that fateful day.
They had met
Eyes stare down and are met with might
Power fills the air
Forces collide
Soul stone and beast
Agony filled woos fill the glen
A firedrake lays still
And a hand unmoving
Only one remands standing
Lost in grief she turns home
To try and protect those that still remain
