Original Poetry Fan Fiction ❯ Seeing, Stealing, Dying, Dead ❯ Seeing, Stealing, Dying, Dead ( Chapter 1 )

[ P - Pre-Teen ]

It stole my breath
And I see no friends.
My heart is dying,
And my voice is dead.

It seems impossible to me
To explain this truth
That was thrust upon me
From an unknowing world.

The innocence and laughter
That I once knew
Was slaughtered and murdered
By this dark, painful truth.

“Insightful”, she said,
When i was described.
But “foolish” was all
That I wanted to reply.

“To be ignorant is to be foolish”
Is what they say,
But I think it wise,
For there is less pain that way.

They try to understand;
I've seen it so many times.
For that is all I seem to do-
To watch and to listen.

But they cannot.
And I cannot explain,
But they hear without listening,
And they listen without hearing.

They see without seeing,
And they claim to know all.
But all they can claim
Is the chaos they cause.

Some offer help,
But I cannot accept,
For I see what it does to them,
And that I regret.

The ones with compassion
Try so hard,
Even though they, themselves,
Are falling apart.

It burns me inside
To know this is true,
But I can do nothing
For it's already started.

Innocence lost,
And happiness shattered,
No one could ever see,
That nothing truly mattered.

They're taught too young
That pain is all there is to know.
When they are born, they are dying,
And they never live again.

I cannot explain
The “problem” that is.
For “we do not know”,
And we never shall.

We are told
We are not alone,
But all I can see
Are people crying,
Bleeding, dying.

Is there any end to this
Madness that exists?
There's five minutes left
And nobody cares.

Ripped away
From what we once knew,
Never to return.
Not that it's right.

Little ones open mouths.
They ask for the truth.
They get it and reply:
Silence, just silence.

It stole my breath
And I see no friends.
My heart is dying,
And my voice is dead.

It's odd to see things close
before their close.
