touched me down deep

stroked a memory

turned a key

a door I had locked so long

full of broken dreams

shattered will and promises

sad songs

and you're gone

you became so necessary

so essential

so vital

to my joy

my peace

my…heart

life was so stupendous

till you were gone

I remember the whimsy of just being happy

just wanting to climb up a mountain

stretch out my arms

and bellow

“I'm HAPPY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”

silly things always came to mind with you

things my `adult' mind used to shun

when I was all alone

before you

childish things

spontaneous urges

things that were…fun

you helped me remember those everyday wonders

those things that bring to mind the phrase “the best things in life are free”

things like…

twirling in circles till my skirt lifted and belled out

blowing bubbles out car windows

flying a kite

spending a lazy afternoon blowing dandelions

rolling down hills

tickles and giggles

bear hugs

they're not as fun as they used to be

till you were gone, they were

now

it's not the same

there's something off kilter

the order's all screwed up
