All the Shades of You—A Memoriam

In life, change comes and not always the way we'd prefer

Thinking of those who have been a strength, a hand-up, a friend and a lover

a confidant, a teach, a significant other

Thinking of them gone can be overwhelming at the least

But we have oh so many memories…

The lessons we've learned from life and death

The things we gain from others before they take their last breath

Will stand as a memorial of a person and their legacy

The wisdom passed on from you to me

How I've been changed from just knowing you

Certain personality traits are imbedded from you influence, it's true

You came into my life for a purpose and in some special way

you changed the way I view life today

Though it pains me to see you gone, I'm grateful to know that you're pain-free

That stress and worry have no hold on you—your body is at peace

I take moments, lately, and think of you

Sometimes, it's great, the memories

At times, the tears come and when sorrow tries to flood my soul

and I try to keep a straight face because this is how I know how to be strong

I'm encouraged to find release in my tears and I remember you in a very dear way

My special one, I remember you today
