That night, Ryan ended up spending the night. He smiled as he watched her come out of the bathroom in her nightgown. All he had on was his boxers, and that was only because she made him. "I'll have to leave early to get my school clothes," he said as she leaned into his chest.
She nodded. "I know."
He ran his hands down her body, guiding her to the bed. Once she laid down, he was right beside her, yawning as he relaxed on her bed. A part of him felt like a pedophile what with all the stuffed animals everywhere, but everything smelled like her so he could probably sleep well tonight.
She snuggled into him and closed her eyes. "I won't make you lunch," she promised.
He smirked and kissed her forehead. "If you want give it a try. The only way you'll get better is by trying. I've got good health insurance."
She laughed lightly. No sooner had he closed his eyes and started to get comfortable than his phone began to ring. He hesitated as he looked at the pocket of his pants which was glowing.
Danny yawned. "I'll get it," she said and crawled out of bed.
He reached out and grabbed her hand. "Don't! It's probably just a wrong number...."
"I don't mind," she said and pulled her hand from him. Reaching in his pants she looked at the number then answered. "Ryan's phone."
"Who is this?" A soft voice demanded from the other end.
"I could ask you the same thing," she smiled.
"Give the phone to Ryan," the voice snapped.
She jumped and dropped the phone. It closed. "Oops...I didn't mean to hang up...they were just so mean...and I jumped..."
Ryan paled. "Fuck me," he whispered. The phone immediately began to ring again. Danny picked it up and started to answer it. "Don't! Just...let it ring," Ryan said quickly.
She quickly set it down. "What's...wrong?"
"Nothing. Just someone trying to hassle me." Apparently they got the bank statement already.
She picked up the phone. "I have a really great lawyer, I can make that stop."
He smirked and shook his head. "Don't worry about it. I'm a big boy. It will settle itself out soon enough."
She sighed. Slowly she flipped the phone open and turned it off. "There. That way we can sleep." She crawled back in the bed with him.
He stared at his phone and nodded. So not good.
In the morning, Danny woke up alone. She yawned and sat up. After getting ready for school, she tried again at making lunch for Ryan. This time, her chief put it in a sealed lunchbox, keeping things that were suppose to be cold, cold and the things that were suppose to be hot, hot.
Ryan's hand shook as he lit up his cigarette. He had a few voicemails on his phone when he woke up this morning. He was in trouble. Lots and lots of trouble. The first part of which was fairly reasonable. He had that coming. The second part...well they were just being cruel by that point. Danny took the cigarette from his lips and put a breakfast energy bar in his mouth instead.
His eyes widened as something was shoved in his mouth. Looking down at her, he smirked and bit into it. "I'm suppose to be the one putting things in your mouth."
"I don't get it."
He smiled and kissed her nose. "Maybe someday you will."
She smiled. "You better stop doing that. People will start talking."
"Yes ma'am," he said with a small salute.
She sighed. Walking past him, she started to class.
"Hey!" Jessy smiled as he waved at her.
"Hi."
"So I was curious, a bunch of us were going to the movies tonight and I wanted to know if you and Ryan wanted to come."
"Ryan and I...we...aren't...publicly together..."
"I think it's a little late for that. You coming out of his room one morning. Him coming from the direction of your house a few days later. Him buying you an entire wardrobe. People are already starting to talk."
"What!" she yelled. "But we were careful!"
He cupped her mouth as people stared. Smiling nervously at them he pulled her down and empty hallway. "Yes, and no one has any real proof but that doesn't stop people from talking."
"But...he has to keep his reputation..." she said softly. "It's really important to him..."
"More important than you?"
"I...I wouldn't know..."
He sighed and shook his head. "Trust me, no guy's reputation should be more important than the person he cares for."
"I don't want him to change his life just because I want to be in it..." She pushed her hair from her eyes. "I'm just happy with what I get."
He reached into his pocket and pulled out a hair clip. Sliding his hand over her cheek, he clipped her hair up. "Sometimes that's not good enough. If I was...straight and had a girl like you, I'd let everyone know and mark you as my own so that other guys wouldn't get any ideas."
"Ryan's not like that..." But why wasn't he? "I thought this was how a normal boyfriend and girlfriend are..."
"There are no 'normal' couples. Everyone is slightly different, but for a macho guy like Ryan who's use to getting blow jobs in class, he'd want guys to know that you were his."
"There is that word again...blow job. Why am I always hearing it? And I'm sure he would rather us be a secret. And honestly...I really am just happy that he wants to be with me at all...I mean...being pregnant lowers your chances of getting a great guy." She started walking to class again.
"Hey, wait. I didn't mean to make you upset Danny. If you're happy...then I'm happy for you," he said softly.
"I'm not upset. Just...confused. Don't worry so much."
"Why are you confused?"
"I just don't really understand why...I can't be his girlfriend out loud... Listen, I really should go. I really hate being late.”
He nodded. "Call me if you wanna talk okay? Or if you have any...questions." She didn't know what a blow job was? He couldn't imagine someone like Ryan being with her.
She nodded and hurried to class. Ryan was already trying to snooze by the time she got there. Sadly, he got a good night's sleep last night so he wasn't the least bit tired. Danny sat down and opened her book like every day. She smiled at Ryan before starting her work, taking notes for the both of them.
Half way through the first period class, something happened. The intercom in the room blared, making Ryan jump from his sleep.
"Please send Ryan Sinclair to the dean's office immediately."
Ryan swallowed hard. Already!?
Danny looked over at Ryan. "What did you do?" she whispered.
"Nothing," he said softly. "I'll...be back later." Grabbing his coat and his bag, he hurried down the hall, noticing that the police were waiting for him. He felt his heartbeat race and all the blood drain from his face.
Danny placed her pencil down. She stood. "I have to go to the bathroom," she said and was excused. Best thing about being pregnant is that you got to leave the class whenever needed. She hurried down the hall and stopped when she saw the police.
Ryan was placed in handcuffs and pushed through the door. The officers hadn't said one word to him. He really didn't like where this was going. Normal cops would have told him his rights.
"Wait!" Danny cried. One thing she knew was the police. After being Gabby's sister for so long she knew what to say. "Ryan, I'll send my lawyer! I'll be there soon! Don't say anything! Promise me!"
Ryan looked at her and smirked. "It's nothing. Just a little misunderstanding. I'll be back before you know it," he promised as he was placed in the back seat.
"No you won't," a voice said from beside him, making his blood run cold.
"Dad?"
"Ryan! Just do as I say! My lawyer will be there soon!" Damn it! Of all the times not to have a phone.
Ryan turned his seat, a frown on his lips when he realized the voice was no more than a television. The person beside him was one of his father's associates. "The cuffs are a little tight," he said to the screen. "Is this the part where I thank you for buying off the cops? Or did you blackmail them? Threaten them maybe?"
A fist slapped him across the face and he slumped against the window.
"This is where you learn not to be a smart ass."
Danny watched as his face hit the door. That was...someone hitting him. That was way beyond the line! Going to a pay phone she quickly called her lawyer, demanding he come at once. After hanging up she went to the car and banged on the window. "You are going to jail for hitting him! I'll tell everyone!"
"Who the fuck is that?"
"Just drive," Ryan muttered. The cops nodded and the vehicle quickly took off.
"Ryan! Ryan!" she screamed.
"Whoa! Whoa! Whoa!" Jessy said as he pulled her back toward the school. "Trust me, you don't want any part in that."
"Let go of me! You didn't see what I saw! I'll tell every judge! I'll have a whole firm after those men!"
"It won't do any good. Come on. Let's just go inside and get you something to drink so you can calm down."
She pulled from him. "Why are you so calm? He was kidnapped!"
"He wasn't kidnapped. This has happened before. He'll be fine."
She stopped. "What?"
"Well, I use the term 'fine' sort of loosely, but his father wouldn't kill him. At least I don't think he would. I guess it depends on what he's done and if the rumors are true."
"What rumors? What are you talking about?"
He shrugged. "There are rumors about Ryan's family. How his old man is a wise guy and how Ryan is the black sheep of the family."
She looked down at the road, now empty and quiet. "Can I borrow your cell? I think I'm just going to call for my limo and go home..."
He nodded and handed it to her. "He'll be fine," he told her.
She nodded numbly and called for her limo. A few minutes later she got in it and got home. As soon as she was inside, she called Gabby.
The next morning Jessy stood on the front steps of the school when Danny walked up. "Have you heard from him yet?"
She shook her head. She hadn't slept one bit and she had been crying because she never heard from him. She sat down on the steps, too tired to walk any further at the moment.
He sat down beside her and stroked her back. "The school has been buzzing," he told her. "A few kids said they saw him go to his room early this morning."
She stood. "What?!" She dropped her bag and hurried across the street to the boys' dorms.
Jessy nearly jumped as she started running. One minute she was a zombie and the next she was Speedy Gonzalez.... She was out of breath when she finally got to Ryan's door. She slid to the ground on her knees, breathing hard and trying to compose herself before knocking. After a few minutes, she stood and knocked softly.
There was the sound of someone shuffling around, followed by a few things knocking over. This was followed by a few muttered curses before the door finally creaked open just enough for Ryan to look out. "You look like hell," he said, his voice raspy as he opened up the door for her. He moved to stand behind it, hiding from her.
She started to cry. "I waited all night for you to call! I cried all night on the phone with Gabby!"
"Hey, hey...don't cry!" He said quickly. He winced as he moved out from behind the door. He held the right side of his body, hugging his ribs. One side of his face was swollen, he had a busted lip, black eye, and a few cuts to complete the image. "I just...didn't get a chance to call." She cried harder at the sight of him. What happened? What did they do to him? Why didn't she fix it?! Her fingers brushed his face and she cried so hard that she was having trouble breathing. "Relax," he told her with a smile. "Getting so worked up isn't good for the baby."
"I don't care!" she screamed. She wanted to hug him, to hold him, and yet she knew she couldn't even touch him.
He reached up and caressed her cheek with his hand. "Come lie down. I'll get you a glass of milk." He winced with every movement, but with the way he was acting it was as if it was no big deal to him.
She walked in and sat down on his bed as her body shook with her tears. "Who did this to you?"
He shrugged, instantly regretting it. "Some guys I made mad," he told her. Getting out a carton of milk, he started to reach for a glass, but found out that wasn't a good idea either. Instead he just walked back and gingerly sat down offering her the milk carton.
She set it aside. "Please don't lie to me...I gave myself to you..."
He didn't see what her offering her body to him had to do with him being truthful. "I'm not lying. I made the wrong guys mad. They wanted to teach me a lesson. Lesson learned."
"It's...happened before...your father..."
He smirked at that. "I didn't think that you'd be one to listen to idle rumors. I just have a habit of ticking off the wrong people. I think it's because everyone wants a piece of my body. Some are just more literal about that then I would have liked."
She sighed. She didn't believe him. But everyone had their secrets. Leaning over, she kissed the corner of his mouth that wasn't swollen. Standing she grabbed a glass and poured some milk. She added honey in it then heated it in the microwave. She handed it to him.
He reached out and took a few sips, smiling as it warmed and soothed his throat. "Too bad I didn't buy you a nurse outfit," he said softly. Setting the glass down by his bed, he looked up at her. "Would you mind...taking the day off today?"
"I'm not going anywhere."
He smiled at that. "Would you lay with me?"
She hesitated. "You should go to a doctor..."
He wanted to laugh at that. "I can't."
"Why?"
"Remember when I said I had awesome health insurance? Yeah...it's kind of...voided at the moment."
"Well...I have my own personal doctor...you know...because I'm pregnant. He does house calls." She picked up his cell and dialed the number.
"As long as he doesn't ask me to bend over or spread my legs we'll be good."
She smiled. When her doctor picked up she greeted him in another language and talked to him for a bit before asking him to come over. He agreed and she hung up. "I was told...to make a list of things that hurt and to take the clothing off..."
"What? I don't even know the guy and already he wants me naked?" Ryan moved to sit up, but held his ribs and cursed at the movement. "I feel so...violated," he said in between deep breaths.
"It's just your shirt," she said. She made the list first then moved to take his shirt off. She tried hard to be careful but as soon as it was off, she started crying again. She had never seen anyone so beat up.
He winced. His chest and ribs were covered in dark purple bruises. "Bloody hell. I look like a sexy Barney..." His eyes met hers and he caressed her cheek. "It looks worse than it is," he lied. At best he had two cracked ribs and three broken.
She said nothing. Finally the doctor came with his assistant. They both poked at Ryan before wrapping him up, stitching him, and giving him pain pills. "Can you give him that cream my mother uses for the bruises and stuff?"
"Of course, I always keep some in my bag just in case." He set it on the table. "Now let's check you out."
Danny paled. "No...you didn't come here for me..."
"Yes, but I can listen to the baby's heart and do your monthly check up," he said and nodded to his assistant who was setting up a portable table.
"But I can't do that with Ryan here!"
"Nonsense. I'm sure he doesn't mind. Besides, Gabby already called me and told me Ryan was your boyfriend and that you were sexually active."
"Gabby should learn to shut up..." she groaned and blushed when the assistant started setting her on the table.
"I've been your personal doctor sense you were a baby. There is nothing to be so worried about. Now spread them."
Ryan smirked as he saw her underwear pulled down and she was forced to spread her legs. "I should go into your line of work," he said, enjoying the feeling of the pain killers.
The doctor only smirked. "Ok, here we go, Daniela." He pushed two fingers in her while she blushed madly. He felt around for a moment then pulled back. "Feels like some light tearing. I'm not happy about that. I assume it's from sex and since I have you both in here I mind as well chastise you both. No rough sex. If it's feels too deep, it is too deep. If it hurts, it's not right. She's pregnant; learn to treat her with care." He listened to the baby’s heart then cleaned up and let Danny pull her panties up while he broke down the table. After saying goodbye he left.
"But...we haven't had rough sex," Ryan pouted as the doctor left. Ryan stared at her and patted the spot beside him. "Let me feel the tearing."
She blushed. "No! It's bad enough you saw that."
"It's not like I haven't seen you naked with your legs spread before."
"I said no," she repeated as she laid down beside him after taking off her hat and uniform jacket.
"Fine." He sighed. Biting his lip, he looked at her. "Wrap your arms around me...gently...please."
She nodded and slowly moved her arms around him. As she did that, he sighed contently and leaned his head against her chest. He would never admit it, but right now he just wanted to be held. That was something he'd never ask any other girl to do for him.
"Jessy...says...that you shouldn't be ashamed to be my boyfriend...."
"I'm not ashamed." Why on earth would Jessy care?
"He says your reputation is more important to you in your eyes..."
"He doesn't know what he's talking about," he said against her chest.
"I think...he does..." she whispered.

She sighed. She didn't believe him. But everyone had their secrets. Leaning over, she kissed the corner of his mouth that wasn't swollen. Standing she grabbed a glass and poured some milk. She added honey in it then heated it in the microwave. She handed it to him.
