Ryan nodded and scooped Danny into his arms. He held her close to him while she cried. Nick just stared at them as they hurried and slid her into the car. No sooner had they gotten her in there then he heard his father's rough voice yelling at them.

"What the hell are you doing with her?"

He stormed toward them, and Ryan just rolled his eyes. He didn't wait or hesitate. He simply turned on his heels and slammed his fist into his face sending him stumbling backward.

"We're saving her from you."

Gabby wanted him dead. "I swear to God that I will have you dead."

He wiped his nose and glared at them. "Don't wish too hard. She's still mine in body and mind."

"The hell she is! Stay the fuck away from her!"

"I don't have to be near here. She's been on fertility drugs for the past week. By now she should be carrying my child."

Ryan froze as he heard this.

"It's called an abortion. Do you really think I haven't already scheduled one you sick fuck?"

"It's called a subpoena. I'll say I want the life of my child. She'll be forced to carry it."

"You can't prove it's yours. Ryan didn't use protection with her either. And as long as it's in her body, she can kill it."

"I can have her tied in litigation over blood tests and parental rights until it’s too late to have an abortion," he smirked.

"Accidental miscarriages happen all the time," Gabby smirked. She got into the car and Danny curled up against her.

"I hate him," Ryan said as he got in and they started driving. Nick was at the wheel, speeding to the air strip as quickly as possible. "I hate him so much."

"I have a doctor I use to go to. He's under the table but he's good. He's given me three abortions before. Not even Danny's known about it. I'll give him a call after her doctor looks at her. We can just say she had a miscarriage," Gabby said as Danny laid asleep in the car.

Ryan nodded slowly. He felt sick to his stomach.
"I can't believe that bastard touched her."

The jet ride home was silent. They didn't get back until after midnight. Danny was taken to the bathroom and Gabby bathed her while she silently played with the bubbles. Danny didn't say a word. She didn't change her blank expression and she didn't look at Gabby. After the bath, Danny sat in Gabby's bed. Her room was still empty, her things still gone. Gabby pulled off the ring from her finger.

"He'll never touch you again."

Danny stared at her naked hand. "I'm not suppose to take it off..."

Ryan knocked on the door. "Is it okay for me to come in?"

"Yeah," Gabby said as Danny reached for the ring.

Ryan opened up the door and watched as she reached for the ring. He frowned and sat down beside her.
"You're free of him. You don't have to wear that anymore."

"I don't want to make him mad," she said as Gabby pulled back from her to keep the ring from her.

Gabby pulled out the ring Ryan had given her. She had picked it up off the nightstand just before they left. She slipped it on Danny's finger. Danny's eyes grew wide.

"I'm not suppose to have it on! He'll get mad!"

"No, he won't," Ryan promised her as he took her hands. He ran his hand over hers, her ring finger falling into the gap where his finger use to be. "He won't ever be near you again."

She pulled her hand from him. Gabby sighed. "I'll sleep with you, Danny. The doctors are coming in the morning. They are going to fix you up. So you need your rest."

Ryan frowned as she pulled away from him. Closing his eyes, he reached up and caressed her cheek, leaning in he light kissed her cheek. "I love you."

She closed her eyes. She imagined all those kisses before. This all seemed like a dream. Gabby helped her slip under the covers and she got in beside her. Strangely, Danny shied away and wouldn't snuggle to her like she had always done before. Instead, she turned over and hugged the wall.

Ryan sat down in his room and turned on his computer. He was searching for something special. Nick knocked at the door.

"Can I come in?"

Ryan looked back at him and frowned.
"Yeah...I guess so," he sighed. Nick closed the door and sat down on his brother's bed.

"I know that you hate me but-"

"I don't hate you. I just don't like you," he stated bluntly. There was a pause as he looked back at him. "Why did you do what you did?"

"What do you mean?"

"With Danny and the necklace."

"I didn't mean for this to happen," he said quickly. "I just...wanted to piss dad off."

"Well, you certainly succeeded in pissing everyone else off."

In the morning, Danny's doctor showed up. Danny didn't move or react when he did his examination with his assistant. Afterward he walked out to talk to Gabby and the brothers. "She's got a lot of tearing and I won't be able to tell if she's pregnant for at least a month, but I recommend sending her to a therapist and getting her some help. I'll send my evaluation to the lawyer. He's your copy." He handed the copy to Gabby and left. Only moments later did Gabby's doctor came in. She handed him the paper and he nodded as he read.

"Since we can't tell if she's pregnant, I can still do the abortion. What I will do is go in there and clean everything out. It will kill any fertilized eggs."

"Do it," Gabby said.

Ryan swallowed hard and sighed. This was for the best. He knew it was, but he still didn't like it. He read over the reports, reading out loud so that Nick could hear.
"Vaginal tearing from rough sex. Anal tearing. Hairline fractures on the jaw. Multiple bruising and possible internal bruising." He set the report down and frowned. "He raped her."

It took an hour for the doctor to finish with Danny. Danny never moved even though Gabby explained to her what was happening to her. After the doctor was gone, Danny sat up. "Can...I go outside today?"

Ryan nodded quickly. "Yes. Of course you can."

"Can I wear a coat?"

"Yes...." What on earth had happened to her?

"Thank you," she whispered. Gabby helped her get dressed in something warm then put her coat on.

Danny stood. Though she didn't wince, Gabby knew she was in pain. Danny sat in the snow outside. She didn't play in it and she didn't complain about the cold. She just sat there.

Ryan moved and sat beside her, slowly he wrapped an arm around her. Could a week really change a person all that much? He nuzzled her face while pulling her close against him.
"I'll never leave your side again."

She pulled from him. "Don't talk silliness."

He tried not to frown as she pulled from him. "I can certainly try...."

Gabby walked out. "Dad called. He wants her back over there. He's sending someone to come get her. She can't stay here."

Ryan frowned and closed his eyes. "I don't know where she could go."

"I can get us a place. It will be nothing fancy, but at least she can stay there," Nick said, already calling someone.

"Make it quick. The men are on the way."

Danny stood when she saw Nick. She stiffened. "I didn't complain...about the cold... Can I have dinner at the table tonight?" she asked him.

Nick looked at her with soft eyes. "I...am not my father," he said softly. "And you are not a slave. You can do as you please."

She shifted. Her hands fisted her jacket.
"Please?"

Ryan looked at Nick who do nothing else but nod. "Yes...of course you can."

She let out a deep breath.
"I'll...go inside now...and get ready...for you," she whispered. She walked past Gabby and went inside. Gabby's chest felt tight.

"Please tell me that one of you knows how to fix this."

Ryan looked at Nick and the two brothers nodded. "We can," he whispered. "We talked about it last night. I'll see what I can do, but...it's going to take some time."

"Dad is an expert at warping people's mind. You see how she acts. If she'd been in there any longer she wouldn't have even wanted to come home. She'd swear that she loves him."

"How could a person live like that?" Gabby whispered to herself. She shook her head. "Right now, she's in there getting naked. Someone should tell her that she doesn't have to. I would...but...she looks right over me. It's like I'm not even here."

"I'll talk to her," Ryan said. He wasn't about to let Nick go in there and see her naked. He walked toward her room and opened it up, watching as she stood there naked for him. "Get dressed," he told her softly. "You don't have to be naked." She hesitated before grabbing her clothes and slowly putting them back on. He smiled and sat down on her bed, patting the spot beside him. "Sit down and let's talk."

Danny slowly sat down on the bed. She left a large gap in between them as she played with the end of her shirt. Her eyes stayed on her lap while she sat in silence.

Ryan reached over and slowly pulled her to him.
"Danny, you'll never have to be with that man ever again," he told her. "You're here with me. You're safe."

She pushed him from her. "Please...stop...I don't want to get in trouble."

"You won't get in trouble," he said as he held onto her. "You won't get into trouble for anything you do."

She pulled from him, pushing at him. Finally she stood. "Stay away. You are not real. Just leave me alone!"

Ryan stood and cupped her face, his lips crashing against hers in a gentle and tender embrace just like he had done when he first saw her. He wanted her to feel his warmth to know that he was real.

She pushed at his chest harshly.
"Stop it! Stop it! Leave me alone!" she screamed as she held her head and her eyes shut tightly.

"No," he said calmly. "I won't leave you alone because I love you and you need my help."

She backed away from him. "He will be home soon and if he knows that I'm seeing you he will be so mad. He will be so very mad and I don't want to get in trouble. Please, just leave me alone."

Ryan took a step toward her. "Look into my eyes and hear my voice. He is not coming back. He is not coming home. He is not going anywhere near you."

She hurried to the door and opened it. Gabby and Nick were standing in the hallway. She rushed to Nick and got to her knees, hugging his legs. "I'm sorry! I'm sorry! He won't go away! Please don't be mad! Please!" she begged.

Nick froze and looked at Ryan. Ryan nodded and Nick leaned down and touched her face. "He won't go away because he loves you," he said as he looked into her eyes. "He won't go away because he's real. It's okay to be with him. I want you to be happy. To be free to do what you want. There will be no punishment."

Was this a trick? Was this to test her?
"But...but I love you..."

"No, you don't. You love him, and that's okay."

Ryan looked away as he heard her say that. Why did it hurt to hear that?

"Is this a game? Are we playing another game?" She clung to his legs. "I don't understand how to play. Should I take my clothes off? Should I pretend to be someone else?"

"No. Just be yourself, Danny. This isn't a game. I just want you to be with Ryan. That's where you belong. Not with me."

"Please don't say that. I know you want me. I just know it."

Nick looked to Ryan, but he had already left. He couldn't stand this anymore. "I don't want you," he whispered. "You're free of me."

"That's not true! No! I just know you want me! I promise to be better! I promise to do better! Please!" she cried.

Gabby pried her hands from his legs and started shaking her.
"Stop it! Just stop it! Listen to me! He's not here! Come back to me, Danny! Come back!"

Danny only cried harder.

Nick closed his eyes. Time to take drastic measures. "You will never be good enough for me," he told her. "So go back to Ryan, because I don't want you anymore. Go and never think about me again."

"That's not true! You are just having a bad day!" She stood and hugged him. "I'll wait in the room. I'll wait and be quiet like you want me to." She hurried back to the room and shut the door.

Gabby looked at Nick.
"Fix her!"

"I'm trying! You see now how easy it is for my dad to get under someone's skin. He has complete control over her." He couldn't believe this. Was a week all his father really needed to completely break her.

"Well do something! My father's idiots are on their way here to get her and you need to get her somewhere safe!"

He just nodded. Going to Danny's room, he knocked and leaned against the door. "Get dressed and open the door." Danny did as she was told. A few minutes later she opened the door and looked up at him. "Go to Ryan's room and take your orders from him from now on," he said.

She froze.
"What....?"

"You heard me. Go to Ryan and take your orders from him."

"But...he's...not real..."

"He is. If you go to his room you will find out that he is very real."

"A...game?" she whispered. Quickly she nodded and rushed to Ryan's room.

"And your plan to get her out of this house and somewhere safe is?"

"Ryan will take her," he said. "If he's alone with her he has a better chance of breaking her out of this than I can. She thinks that I'm my father. My presence is just going to make it worse."

Ryan looked up as she entered his room.
"Danny?"

"I'm...playing a game..."

"What?"

"He told me to take orders from you...it's a game..."

Ryan's phone beeped and he looked at the text message. He read it with a nod. "Okay. We're leaving," he said as he grabbed his coat. She watched as he put his coat on. Standing in the door way she shifted. He looked at her and smiled. Taking off his coat, he wrapped it around her shoulders. "Come on," he said as he offered her his hand.

She hesitated but slowly took his hand. When they started out, Gabby handed her a bag.
"Clothes and things...I'll call all the time and check on you often. The doctor will be in touch with you. He wants to make sure you keep taking your medication and be sure there isn't any internal bleeding."

Danny just looked over her like she was a maid.

"Don't worry. It won't be but for a few days," he said. Squeezing Danny's hand he pulled her to his car. Once they were inside, he took her hand again and started driving. "You're mine now," he explained to her. "You're never going to be his again. He gave you to me."

Danny was quiet. She was a bit confused, but she learned never to question orders.

They pulled up at a small apartment. The area was probably the worst part of town, but no one would come looking for them there. Once they were in the small bed room apartment he let her sit down on the bed. He knelt in front of her and looked up at her.
"What would you like to do?"

"What?" she asked shaking her head.

"Would you like to go eat, watch television, or would you like me to go get you some books to read?"

"We...aren't...having sex?"

"No. It would hurt you too much if we did."

"It...always does."

"No. Remember when we had sex? You enjoyed it."

"That never happened. It was all in my head."

"No, it wasn't. Do you remember when I gave you that promise ring? When I kissed you? When we had sex it was sweet and loving and caring." She looked away. She didn't like this game. Not that she liked any of the games she had to play. Ryan's hand slid over her face, gently caressing it as he turned it toward her. "Kiss me."

She winced lightly, her fractured jaw hurting at the touch. She nodded. It was an order. Leaning forward, she pressed her lips to his, shoving her tongue in his mouth.
