Chapter 3.
Yente looked at her father in shock. What was he doing here? She had told him not to come. ‘Damn it. I should have known dad would simply ignore my wishes and do as he pleases.’
“Aren’t you going to give your father a hug?” her father asked. She put a fake smile on her face and stepped into his embrace. “It’s good to see you again my daughter.”
“You to father.” As she embraced her stepfather she took a quick glance at her boyfriend. He did not look happy. In fact he looked royally pissed. “It's good to see you as well, John.” She stepped away from him. “Come on and sit down. I will make you some coffee.” She pointed them to the living room avoiding eye contact with Michael, who kept sending furious glares her way.
Her hands trembled as she prepared the coffee. 'Great.' She thought. 'Just great. Why does he have to come now? I was just getting my live back on track and what does he want anyway?' Yente was interrupted from her thoughts as the kitchen door opened and Michael walked in.
“What the hell is going on here?” He hissed furiously as soon as the door was closed. “I thought you send him a message that he wasn't welcome?”
“I did. But my dad was never one to actually listen to other people.”
“That still doesn't explain why he's sitting on our couch and you are making him coffee.” Yente said nothing. He sighed. “When are you finally going to stop being afraid of him? He can't hurt you. I won't let him.” she still said nothing. Michael shook his head and turned around.
“Where are you going?”
“I'm going to do what you can't.” Michael answered. “I'm going to kick your father and your stepfather out.” Yente grabbed his arm to halt him.
“But what if he's here to apologize?” She whispered softly. Michael turned to look at her.
“Do you really believe that?” He asked skeptically. Yente shrugged.
“I don't know. But what if? He's still my dad, Mike.” Michael looked into her eyes. She looked so hopeful. He sighed.
“Okay. I won't kick him out...” Yente breathed a sigh of relief. “Yet. One false move and he's out off here.” She nodded and kissed him on the cheek.
“Thank you.”
Michael scowled deeply. If there was one he didn't like it was having his girl buy him clothes. It wasn't that she choose hideous clothes for him, oh no, in fact she had great taste. It was the fact that shopping for clothes always took so long. She could go on for hours and then return home with only one item. He sighed. Sometimes she could act so girly.
But he knew it wasn't the shopping that had put him in such a bad mood. It was her father. Oh the meeting had gone fine, at least as far as Yente knew. But After the meeting when he had led her father and her stepfather out, things turned ugly. He remembered well the words her father had said to him. “She will never love a loser like you, she'll dump you soon enough.” Michael clenched his fists. It had been two hours since it had happened, but his blood was still boiling. He had wanted nothing more then to slug the guy, but he knew it would break Yente's heart if he did. It was the same reason why he choose not to tell her. She had looked so happy. Like a weight had fallen from her shoulders.
“What do you think of this one?” Yente asked while holding up a black shirt. Michael shrugged.
“It's ok.” Yente looked from him to the shirt and back. She blinked. The shirt had pink letterings on it. And she knew for a fact that he hated pink. She had meant it as a joke when she asked him what he thought of it. She hung the shirt back on the rack. Something was up with him. She knew he didn't care much for shopping, but he was never this disinterested. Yente looked out of the shop window, across the street she saw a lingerie store. A smirk formed on her lips. She grabbed Michael by the arm and dragged him out of the shop.
“Hey.” Michael protested. “Where are we going?” Yente smirked at him.
“You owe me a new thong. I think it's high time you get me one.” Michael's face lit up. If there was one thing he liked it was buying lingerie for his girl.
“Hmmm,” Michael said as he looked at his girlfriend. “I don't know.” He looked over the black and red teddy skeptically. “Maybe you should try that red baby doll.” Yente rolled her eyes.
“Michael I tried on ten different sets already. Make up your mind!” Michael smirked and turned to the sales clerk.
“We'll take them all!” Yente's mouth fell open in shock.
“All?! Are you nuts! We are not taking them all!”
But I can't choose. I like every one of them.”Michael pouted. Yente shook her head.
“Mike, with the amount of lingerie you buy me, I could start my own lingerie store.”
“Sell your lingerie?” Michael looked horrified. “But then what will you wear?” Suddenly his smirk turned malicious. Yente gulped and realized that whatever he was thinking about, couldn't be good. “That's a great idea.” Michael grinned.
“I... It is?” Yente asked hesitantly.
“Yeah, then you can walk around naked all day.”
Yente frowned as she walked out of the lingerie store. Michael grinned as he walked beside her, carrying three bags filled with lingerie.
“Aw, come on Princess, don't frown like that. I bought all this stuff for you.” She snorted.
“Sure you did.” She replied sarcastically. Michael chuckled.
“You took me to that lingerie store.”
“Yeah remind me to never do that again.”
Michael smiled lovingly at her. He knew why she had taken him to that store. She had sensed his bad mood, and wanted to cheer him up. He leaned into her.
“Thanks.” He whispered softly in her ear. “I needed that.” Yente sighed.
“I know, but I'll never understand how being two hundred bucks lighter can make you happy. He gently grabbed her arm to halt her and turned her to face him.
“It's your eyes.” Yente raised her eyebrow.
“My eyes?” Michael nodded.
“I know that despite your complaints, you like it when I buy you stuff. Your eyes start to sparkle when I do. It's that sparkle that makes me want to give you the world.” Yente blushed.
“That's the sweetest thing a man has ever said to me.” She pulled his face down for a kiss.
“If I get a reward like that, I'll say whatever you want me to say.” Michael said after the kiss ended. Yente smiled before turning serious.
“I heard what my father said to you.” Michael shrugged and placed his arm around her waist as they walked back to the car. She looked at him. “I'm sorry, you were right. I should have known better.”
“Forget it. It doesn't matter. We both know he's wrong. Now lets get back to talking about lingerie, before I loose my good mood.” They reached the car and Yente let out a soft shriek when she recognized the guy leaning against it.
“Hello Yente.” He said as he walked casually towards her. A smug grin on his face.
“Sebastian!” Yente gasped astounded to see her ex boyfriend on the other side off the planet. “What the fuck are you doing here?” Sebastian gently touched her cheek.
“I came to see you. I missed you.” Michael growled deep in his throat, he dropped the shopping bags and pulled Yente away from the unwanted guest.
“Keep your hands off of my girlfriend!” Yente chanced a look at her boyfriend and trembled at the look of pure furie she saw in his eyes. She knew he didn't like her ex much and she blamed herself for it. She and him hadn't parted on good terms and she had talked allot to Michael about it. In return she had seen the hate for her ex grow in his eyes.
“Michael, please calm down.” She pleaded desperately. “Don't do anything stupid.”
“How did you get here?” Michael growled ignoring Yente. Sebastian smirked.
“Her father brought me.” Yente gasped.
“No.” She whispered a wounded look on her face. “He would never...”
“Yes he would.” Sebastian interrupted. “Because he knows we belong together!” He reached out his hand to her. “Now dump the loser and come to me where you belong.”
At those words Michael snapped. He stormed at Sebastian and punched him in the nose.
Sebastian let out a pained shout and stumbled backwards. “You asshole!” He yelled while holding his bleeding nose. “You nearly broke my nose!”
“Nearly?” Michael chuckled and shrugged. “Guess I should hit a little harder then.” He cracked his knuckles and was about to continue, when he felt a hand on his arm. He looked down to see Yente staring at him with pleading eyes. Before she could say anything, he placed a finger on her lips. “Not this time Princess. We tried to do this your way, but obviously that doesn't work.” The tears slowly started to roll down her cheeks. He softly brushed them away. A sad smile on his face. “I'm sorry Princess, But not even your tears will stop me. He has to learn that you are with me now and since the easy way isn't working, I will have no choice but to do it the hard way.” He gently took her hand from his arm. “Now stay clear and don't interfere.”
Just as Michael turned back to his rival, a fist connected with his chin. He whipped the blood from the corner of his mouth and laughed. “Is that the best you got? Cuz if it is you better quit.”
Yente watched the fight with despair in her eyes. There was nothing she could do to stop him, Michael had made that very clear. In the past when he got into fights it had been very easy to stop him, he was never happy when she did, but eventually he got over it. This time was different. This time nothing could stop him. Not even her. The only thing she could do was pray that he wouldn't kill her ex.
Sebastian looked up at the hated man that stole his girlfriend. At least he tried to as best as he could, his right eye was swollen shut, blurring his vision. He was losing this fight and he knew it. Sebastian's blurry vision turned to Yente and intense hatred welled up inside him. 'Selfish bitch.' He thought 'I gave her everything she needed and how does she repay me? By running off with this loser.' Sebastian grimaced. Now he was standing here looking like an idiot. People had stopped to see what was going on and it looked like one of them was calling the cops.
Suddenly he made a decision. He looked back at Micheal with a sadistic smile on his face. “If I can't have her no one can!” With that he ran at Yente and pushed her backwards on to the busy street. Yente swayed a little but managed to keep her footing. At first she didn't realise what had happened and by the time she did, it was to late.
Yente looked at her father in shock. What was he doing here? She had told him not to come. ‘Damn it. I should have known dad would simply ignore my wishes and do as he pleases.’
