=Nobility title explanation=
Zufo = Warlord, the basic title of nobility, when someone has served in the military long enough or has done something extraordinary while in service there, he/she can receive the title of a warlord.
Kufo = Count, also a basic title of nobility, these are people who are born into nobility through the marriage of a warlord and someone else, in other words, these people do not need to be in the army if they choose not to be but instead can learn how to be a ruler through studies, if he/she chooses the military, they can become Zufo, if they choose studying, they become Kufo. The opinion on which is more respected and which is more despised differs with each individual. Also, someone can become a Kufo if this person is adopted into the family or the Kufo/Zufo themselves for some reason decide to make them into one, the reason could be anything as long as it's reasonable.
Jufo = Duke, the next step in nobility, this title can only be earned in two different ways: One is that you are the child of the current duke, the other way is to make your land as a count to prosper and grow enough in order to earn this title.
Sufo = Guild master, this is a nobility rank that is held by a person who has complete control over the trading of something, like food, weapons, etc. between the lands, it is higher than dukes not because of the amount of land owned but because trading is vital to all the lands, so a Guild master is rather high in the ranks of nobility… and the trick is that the Guild master does not need to be a count or a duke to begin with! Guild masters are also absolutely neutral when it comes to marketing and business, they cannot be pressured to give favours to others and they must NOT be giving favours to others, if a guild master is found guilty of taking bribes or giving favours to a specific land, they will lose that title and will be ex-communicated from the guild. On a side note, many of the nobility absolutely HATE the Sufo title…
=Military/Imperial army explanation=
There are two militaries in this world, the regular military and the imperial army, now the regular military is the one that does most of the fighting during skirmishes and normal battles. This is also the army than can be joined by regular means of recruitment and from there it is possible to proceed to nobility as well.
In the regular military, this is the ranking list, starting from lowest to highest:
(Check above for translations)
Guroi
Yaroi
Senshi
Sen-ji
Shara
Those are the regular military, there is of course the mercenary army as well but those are people who have ditched either the regular or imperial army or have been kicked out of them for one reason or another, so they either end up going back home with the shame or they become mercenaries who act alone or in groups, they have no real military rank so they are regarded with a multitude of different terms, common one that is used is “Filthy scum” the secondly most used is “Honourless trash”, however, in some cases a mercenary has been proven to be stronger than a Sen-ji, so they are not to be underestimated.
Now, since this land is divided into two major sides, they both also have an imperial army. Now, the battles between the regular army are up to the nobility to handle, however, if either side decides to mobilize their imperial army, then it will mean an all-out war between the two of them and the nobility's authority will be overtaken by the Zaigon-jara until the war is over. The Zaigon-jara are people who the first Shara-jho picked out personally and over time as one of them dies, the Shara-jho is the one who chooses the next one to replace the dead one.
Also, joining the Jugen-Shi is extremely hard, since you cannot join them unless they themselves give you the chance to do so and in order to get a chance like that, you must have done something phenomenal and even then, the joining test is VERY extreme, meaning that the majority who try it end up dead instead.
The imperial army's raking list is as follows:
Jugen-Shi
Mikoro-Shara
Zaigon-jara
Akenji
Now, while the Akenji is the one that is above the council, the council is the one who decides who can become a member of the Akenji or who the next Shara-jho will be when the old one perishes, so the Akenji is more like a figurehead for the people at the moment but they do have the power over the imperial army.
Also, in order to become a member of the Akenji, you must first become a very successful nobleman and then you must be approved by the Zaigon-jara, which is no easy feat I tell you, right now, there are only 5 Akenji. Since even if you are born from the Akenji, it does NOT mean you are automatically a member of the Akenji, until you've proved yourself as a nobleman and get approved by the Zaigon-jara, you will be a member of the Akenji in name only, not in reality.
Now, lastly, the highest rank of them all:
Shara-jho
Simply put, whoever sits on the empires throne is without the doubt the most powerful being on the land. Not only does the Shara-jho have complete control over everything that happens with the nobility, military, the council and the imperial army, he/she will also be the one who decides if a peace treaty or a war declaration will be made or not. Usually the emperor/empress does not interfere with what the Zaigon-jara is doing but if it is a decision that will affect the majority of the land, then the Shara-jho will intervene and when he/she does, you better pay attention because if the Shara-jho decides to execute you, it does not matter what rank you possess, no one is beyond the Shara-jho's sphere of power and authority.
Though, the Shara-jho rarely intervenes with what happens in the land, he/she only intervenes when the safety of the land is in question or if a member of the Akenji or Zaigon-jara has been found guilty of something severe, such as treason.
That's all folks! (For now…)
A/N: okay, hope that didn't cause too much confusion… if it did, then once the story begins and we properly started, you will get used to it and you need not worry about all these terms and titles now, they will slowly appear as the story progresses so I will take my time to get you people used to on how this world works, this is merely and information page that if there are questions you might find the answers here… so consider this as a kind of a FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) page, okay?
Now, next time I update I WILL get the first chapter/episode out, so try to keep yourselves in check until then, okay? LOL…
- Zelix, see ya next time!
