Chapter Seven: The Monster That I Am

 

"Help!" a piercing scream comes not far away from where the two girls are at. So they both pick up their pace towards the scream, and there in the dark alley is a guy trying to rape a young girl. "Pervert...." Alex murmurs. "Eh?!" Yuki looks over at her friend. "I... hate... pervert..." Alex walks up to the guy and punches him hard, hard enough to send him smack against the wall. "You little bitch!" the guy gets up and attacks her wildly. Alex loses her humanity, and ignoring the pain she keeps on punching the guy nonstop until his blood tainted her fists.

While Yuki witnesses such strong aura from Alex, she immediately calls up Ken and some other members in the family to come there right away. "Yo, what's the deal?" a boy asks Yuki along with Ken and another girl. "That..." Yuki murmurs pointing at Alex still beat on the guy. "Whoa..." Ken can barely get it out of his mouth.

By the time Alex was through with the guy, he's already dead and the victim now screams like mad. "Monster... monster..." she screams hysterically at Alex. “I'm... a monster?" Alex looks down at her bloody hands and back at the bloody dead body behind her. "AHHH...." Alex screams out and with a single leap, she's already high up in the sky and landed on top of the building.

"You two take care of the body and erase her memory. Ken, you come with me to get her back..." Yuki barks her order and jumps up after Alex with Ken right behind her. They chase after her into the night, almost losing their sight of her a few times too. So they decided to confront her, and they struggle hard to get her under control and bring her back.

"What happened?" Shuji asks calmly looking at Alex. "She goes berserk seeing a guy trying to rape a young girl," Yuki shrugs. "Did she have some bad memories?" Ken says. "No, I don't know how this comes to causes her to become like a devil either." Yuki scratches her head watching Alex pulling on the chains that she was chained to. "Leave her be until her humanity returns, if it ever does..." Shuji says heading out along with everyone.

Once she regains her self control again, Shuji let her return to the apartment she shares with Yuki. Since then, Alex locks herself in her room and didn't leave. Yuki and Ken and the kids tried to get Alex out of her room but to no avail at all. Even Shuji can't do anything about it; because she keeps on murmuring about she's a monster so she must hide away.

Back in the U.S., Mia, Alez and Amber are standing in line to board the plane to Japan. "So how long are we going to be there?" Amber asks. "Two months or so..." Mia replies. "Don't worry; I won't let you out of my sight." Alez smiles lovingly at Amber. "Have you eaten her yet?" Mia whispers to him. "N...no..." Alez turns red. "Hm?" Amber looks at them in confuses. "I'm sure Ryo or Kentaro... even Ken might get her before you do..." Mia giggles. "Over my dead body..." Alez growls at her. "Who are they?" Amber asks. "Our cousins..." Mia grins. "So you two better elope soon or else..." Mia says and the other two blush hard as they sit down in their seat.

"Don't listen to her," Alez looks over at Amber. "I think I heard Shuji talking about Kane-sama was talking about you a lot lately. She might have interest in you," Mia winks at them. "K... k-Kane-sama?!" Alez stutters. "Yes, and now you bring home a girl... I'm sure she won't be please..." Mia says with a serious face. "Who is this Kane person?" Amber asks. "Oh, she's just the head of the family..." Mia smiles faintly.

On a rainy day in the city of Tokyo, a serial murderer escaped prison and is taking a hostage at an apartment nearby Yuki's place. Yuki comes over there trying to make peace with the man to let the hostage go, but it was pointless. Even as the police come and still can't do anything but surround the house and wait for better instruction.

"I want money and a car prepare in an hour or her leg will go," the man threatening Yuki along with some other officers there. "But how will we know you won't harm the hostage while we go get the things you want?" Yuki says coolly. "Maybe I'll hurt her NOW!" he shouts pressing the knife closer to the hostage's throat. Before Yuki says anything else, a shadow creeps up behind the man and raises its hands up in the air, holding a pretty decent stick in hands. A hard nasty sound is heard and the man falls down on the floor hard, dropping the knife not so far from where he is.

"Alex!" Yuki shouts excitedly. "You need to build better jail or keep better watch on him," Alex says coldly to the officers ignoring Yuki completely. She walks out and heads back to her apartment with Yuki right behind her. "You're out today..." Yuki says. "Yeah, just doing my job..." Alex replies wryly. "You haven't doing your job for over a week already, but I'm glad to have you back. Ken-senpai is worrying sick about you, of course there's the kids and me." Yuki smiles happily circling Alex. Just then the phone rings and they're off on another job, Alex coldly handle it with ease as Yuki act as a distraction.

"It seems that you're back to normal," Shuji says in a warm and gentle voice. "I'm sorry for causing you so much trouble," Alex says kneeling down about three feet from him. "No, I was careless about the issue that you're never exposed to that kind of issue before. It was somewhat my fault for overlooking on it," Shuji says getting up and walks up to Alex. "We have Sakura-chan and Daisuke-kun to thanks to for cleaning up the mess and take care of the girl," Shuji help Alex up and looks out at the doorway.

Alex turns around and sees a pair of two young people standing there; they're twins so it is hard to tell which one is Sakura and which one is Daisuke. They look exactly alike with long jet black hair, only different is that one have tied back hair as other have a little braid on each side. "Alex-dono..." they bow at her. “Thank you for all your help," Alex bows back respectfully. "We do that for Yuki-chan a lot..." the one with the braids giggles. “Yes, it's kind of hard to stay on top of things when Yuki-chan works alone..." the other one laughs. "Yes, you've been a big help since you come. They have less tough job to keep track with you guys, and so it make their job a bit easier. Things are less haywire than when it's only Yuki, since Ryo and Ritsu's temper kept them from being part of the team." Shuji agrees.

"Mia-sama, it is good to see you back..." the butler says, greeting her at the airport with a respectable bow. “Nice to be back after being there for so long," Mia smiles at the butler. "Alez-sama, Kane Ojou-sama wants to see you since after you left. Miss Amber, you'll be staying outside of the Ureshima's compound for now. It is what Shuji-sama wanted," the man says as they head for the black sedan. "No, she's staying with me..." Alez says coldly. "Alez, don't go against Shuji's order. If you know what's best, just ask Yuki-san to watch over her." Mia rests her hand on his shoulder shaking her head lightly. "Um... it's okay, I can stay out..." Amber says quietly. "Thank you for understanding," Mia bows at Amber slightly. "Oh no... I'm okay with it..." Amber shakes her head.

"Shuji-kun..." Mia says hugging Shuji. "Mia-chan, it has been a long time..." he replies hugging her back tightly. “Shuji-sama..." Alez kneel down in front of the couple. "Alez-kun, it is nice to see you back..." Shuji says after letting go of Mia. "I just have one question..." Alez pauses, waiting for permission. "Speaks..." "Why can't Amber come here and stay in my room?" he looks up at Shuji. "As you know, Kane-sama just awoke from her long slumber..." Shuji stops to calm his nerves down.

"Since you were a boy, she has her eyes on you. Imagine how angry she will be to find out that you love someone else, and that someone is a mortal. I am sure you can tell what will happens, will you not?" Shuji says looking down at Alez. "Why don't we let her stay at Yuki-san's place for now?" Alez asks. "We already did that, and she should be there already." Shuji replies. "Wasn't Alex there too?" Mia whispers to Shuji. "Yes," Shuji nods his head. "OH MY GOD!!!" Mia shouts. "I thought we don't believe in gods..." Alez murmurs. "American expression of shock..." Mia shrugs.

Meanwhile at the apartment, "So you're Alez's girlfriend." Yuki looks at Amber with a little muse in her eyes, and Amber just blushes a little. "Never thought that kid would love anyone," Yuki shrugs as she opens the door to the apartment. "Why is that?" Amber says slowly. "I can understand you just fine," Yuki gives Amber an annoyed stares. "I'm sorry," Amber looks down. "Don't be! I got a good teacher," Yuki smiles and pads the girl's back. "It's just that Yumi, Maki, and Mao will be somewhat angry and disappointed to know that Alez pick you over them. They're pretty darling girls, and are our distance relatives..." Yuki says quietly sitting Amber down on the couch and sits down next to her.

"Yo, bath is ready..." Alex pauses seeing Amber. "I have a feeling that you two know each other, so I'll let you two catch up on old things." Yuki says getting up and walks away. Alex and Amber just stare at each other for a long moment without saying anything.

"I'll show you where you'll be sleeping tonight," Alex turns away and heads down the hall. Amber didn't say anything but picks up her bags and follows behind Alex. "Look, I'm sorry for not telling you..." "It's alright..." Amber whispers, as she blushes a little. "So you've been dating Alez for like six months now?" Alex changes the subject. "Ah... yes... he's a gentleman and treats me great..." she blushes even more. “I see... that's good..." Alex smiles gently. "Tomorrow... we'll take you to the main house to meet some of the members of the Ureshima family..." Alex turns and leave Amber there. "Tomorrow..." Amber echoes Alex's word trying to figure out what is this feeling that rushes up inside of her.

"Tomorrow... chaos will reek..." Alex murmurs under her breathe walking back to the living room. "We're so staying outside tomorrow..." Yuki says from behind Alex. "I know..." Alex nods her head. "But Kane-sama will be there tomorrow... and your present will only make things worst..." "Just because I'm a halfa?" Alex turns around to face Yuki. "Yes, and Mia-sama will be severely punish for making you one. Alez and I are only one knowing about this," Yuki dries her hair. "I'm sure she will try to kill her and him when he told her about his affair with a mortal..." Alex says coldly. "And you don't intent on letting that happens," Yuki finishes Alex's thought. "Even if it means costing me my life..." "I think it is time to break the tradition as well..." Yuki agrees. "And I just can't let you die on me like that..." Yuki giggles hugging Alex lightly and let her go quickly.
