Prologue

My search is ending. I know where to go, but I still have to find him there. I have tracked him all over the world, and it has taken me many long years, each one feeling longer than the last. It is something that I must do, I must avenge her death. No matter how hard it has been, I have never wavered in my resolve. The hate fuels me; the memory of her pushes me ever onward.

The prospect of my search being at an end thrills me, even relieves me, but it also scares me. I long to see the fear in his eyes as the end comes, and I long for the chase to end. But what happens after my task is finished? This is what scares me. Will I be able to carry on with my existence without the purpose I have now? Will I finally find some rest? The closer I come to him, the more the answer becomes clear.

I have some options and most of them…well. I can seek out my own kind, whom I have come to loathe and abhor, but retain my sanity. Or I wander the world alone, with only my bitterness and her memory for company, to eventually lose my sanity and will to survive. Frankly I would choose neither. Ah but it is all a matter of choice. So I have chosen, once I have completed my task I will join her in oblivion.

So, the object of my quest. You have put up with my ramblings so perhaps I should explain. I am hunting a man, if you can call him a man, or even all of my kind human. He is a monster. Callous, vicious, a killer. He has caused so much pain to so many. It will be a mercy to the world to destroy him. And yet, despite my bitterness there are the memories. It wasn't always so between us, once we were happy, once there was love.

So to my quarry, perhaps it would help of you knew him as I did. I will start when he was a man, innocent and kind. Before he started down the road that led him to be the monster that he has become.

So finally I have found a place to share my work. Right, now for some basics. Before we get into the story proper I will warn you this will be a total of 54 chapters including the above. I have 4 left to write and no not all in order so I need to get off my behind!!! This is going to span a long history, and there is going to be a lot set in the past before we hit the present.

This is a work of fiction so please do not take offence at historical inaccuracies or any related to setting. This has come from my mind people! Anyways, not a lot for you to review in this chapter so will get on and upload the next….
