Chapter Six
“Gay or not, that Luke guy's a player.” Alex said and passed Davin the small pipe. The acrid, faintly sweet smoke filled his lungs and once again he felt light and calm to the point of being giggly. He gave the polished silver utensil back to his friend who set it down spent in its velvet-lined, lacquer box. Davin didn't know where Alex got his drugs from but he must know lots more people in the cities than he let on if he could acquire something like non-laced opium.
“Really, and how do you know that?” He asked, finally acknowledging that he spoke to him.
“Being a former ladies man, one can just tell. As if you couldn't.” Alex snorted a small laugh when Davin just shrugged his shoulders. He was just as bad as him and when you lived like they did you could smell your own kind.
“You only met him once.” Davin said as he leaned back into the cushions he was sitting against.
“One time is all I need.” He didn't finish with what he wanted to. He didn't say his point after starting the conversation in the first place. When they had all been at the door, Alex knew he had been forgotten for a moment. The two looked only at each other and he felt the mad energy between them. He also saw the way Luke looked at Davin. If he was a girl, and Luke was straight, Alex might have been worried for him but none of this was the case and he had faith in Davin that he could take care of himself.
“I want to get him into bed.” Davin said, firm and certain as if he'd been thinking this over for some time now.
Alex laughed and shook his head before lying down on the floor. This new development didn't bother him in the least. Davin was a promiscuous creature with a very substantial sex life. Since he was fifteen he honed his skills and girls couldn't resist his charm or enthusiasm as a lover. He made them feel good while making himself feel good and when they were with him he gave everything to them. But it never lasted long and Davin never acted like it would. He dated around, partied with acquaintances, and chose those who understood his no-strings-attached policy. It didn't surprise him that he wanted a man now. In fact, Alex once asked him if he was bisexual and Davin never really gave him an honest yes or no, only saying if met with certain circumstances he would be an equal-opportunity employer.
“Although I don't know how to really go about propositioning him. I'm good but who knows if men enjoy the same techniques women do.” Davin said aloud and Alex could hear his voice take on the tone reserved for deep thought.
“A body is a body. He's bound to have about the same pleasure spots as anyone else you've been with. You're a neck man, start with that and run with it.” Alex said from the same position he was in before. He pulled his arm up and laid it across his closed eyes.
“Maybe I should practice.” Again that pondering voice. “Hn.” Alex nodded. “Good thinking.”
Alex came down from his cloud when he felt a warm hand run up his leg and stop to massage his thigh. He squirmed a little at the ticklish sensation but the drug helped mellow his reaction quite a bit. The hand left him and then he felt legs straddle his shins and the hands were back. This time they gently pushed his dark red t-shirt up to expose his abdomen and feel the skin stretched over his muscular naval. At the brush of lips Alex lifted his arm away and looked down.
“What are you doing?” He wasn't angry or freaked out, slightly amused, but not mad. Davin looked up and his eyes sparkled and he was smiling.
“Hey Alex, wanna be my guinea pig?” Alex's head fell back and he laughed. This gave Davin the chance to touch the sculpted arch of his neck; he really did have an affinity for this part of the anatomy. Alex caught Davin's head gently to stop him from kissing him.
“No.” He saw the anxiety flare up into those blue orbs and smiled before pulling him into a hug. When he let him go, Davin was back to being loose and cheery. “Come on, let's sober up and go out.” Alex said and winked.
Really acknowledging it was February, Alex mused on the fact that he hadn't got to hang out with Davin since before Christmas. He felt a tinge of jealousy toward Luke but now that he knew Davin was interested in him romantically he treated the time away from him as if his friend was chasing some new girl. Boredom be damned, I guess. Once this is out of his system, things will go back to their regular scheduled program. Alex kept telling himself. And now since he had had some sort of tiff with Luke last week he was around and Alex had just the place in mind to treat his friend.
They cleaned up and then Davin got out his snazzy clothing reserves from the closet that he left over at Alex's for times such as these when they decided to go out instead of stay in. Davin laughed when his friend came out from the screen he was dressing behind. Out of all the vices he had, out of all his guilty pleasures—Alex's love for leather and more so his love of leather pants was his biggest one. Hip hugging, matte red leather clung to his long legs and Alex blew him a kiss and flipped him off when he walked by to snag a tight, dark purple shirt off a hanger in his closet. As always, Davin wore the opposite to balance out the look of their dynamic duo. He was in simple looking, yet expensive black jeans with a loose but clingy gray shirt. He clasped a string of onyx beads on his wrist and hung a silver chain around his neck. Before they left the room, Alex pulled Davin back inside to hook a small hematite hoop in his pale lobe. Slapping an arm around his shoulder, they finally made it out to Alex's car.
“So, where are we going?” Davin asked as he locked his seatbelt around his waist and Alex pulled out onto the interstate.
“A place called `Tuatha'. I went there when my family took me along to see the grandparents. You'll like it, plus the girls I got that opium from practically live there they told me. So…”
It took them an hour to get there and when they approached the building Davin smiled. His friend made a good call saying he'd like it. They were let in on account that they were cute and in minutes Davin had swallowed a test tube of glowing pink liquor and was writhing around on the dance floor. Tuatha was dark with fantasy elements and lights pulsing overhead and dancers of each gender gyrating in boxes, cages, and on platforms—all in cosplay. Davin was enjoying himself after the week he had had and others around him were starting to take notice of him. A girl wearing a chain mail halter-top and silver miniskirt along with sea foam hair attached herself to him from behind and they began to sway as one. Her green, talon adorned hands slid down his sides to his thighs and then back up again.
This was taking all his tension away but his mind was still on Luke. Suddenly, a girl with a black and white, puffy baby-doll looking dress came to him too and Davin held his hand out to her with the cyber punk chick still grinding him from behind. Her inky rag curls bounced around as he held her close and danced to the insane beat of the music blaring in his ears. Sea Foam put her hands under his shirt and rubbed his stomach in small circles and the china doll batted her thick eyelashes at him before lowering her powdered face to his neck to start lightly kissing his sweaty flesh. It was nice but he couldn't entertain them all night, he didn't want to either. There was no point in denying it, he wanted Luke and no other would do even for a night.
Davin grimaced as whatever he had drunk earlier came back up in the back of his throat. The fog machine here was starting to hurt his eyes and he found no appeal in the thumping of the music or the throbbing of the lights on him anymore. He gave one last squeeze to one of Sea Foam's glittering hands and caressed his china doll's smooth face and gave her a peck on her cheek before breaking away from them. What he needed to do was find Alex before his head really started to hurt. Now where exactly did his friend get to? He remembered seeing him last disappearing into a room set off to the side of the club. Davin opened the heavy wood door and found thick bead curtains blocking his view. Not in the mood for the theatrics of the place, he shoved them aside and saw he was now in a lounge of sorts.
The walls were covered in dark red with messages scrawled all over with various kinds of Day-Glow paint. Large pillows laid everywhere and clusters of people were in different spots of the room. His eyes fell to the back corner and he walked over to his friend. Alex was talking and smiling with an older girl on a small, cushioned bench.
“Hey Davin, this is Naomi. The one I was telling you about, well one of them.” He said as he pulled her onto his lap. Davin ignored the way he felt about this, hadn't he said a few hours ago that he was reformed? Oh well, he wasn't his keeper and if he couldn't be faithful to Becky than it was their problem. He only nodded at the exotic girl.
“Alex, are you ready? My head is killing me.”
“Stay in here, you'll start to feel better.” His friend said and smiled as Naomi turned to kiss his earlobe.
“I doubt it.” Davin's voice was flat.
“Well I'm not ready yet.” Where this hostility was coming from Alex wasn't sure but he wasn't going to let his night be ruined by a fucking headache. Naomi was getting bored and pulled out a bag from her corset. Davin prayed that wasn't what he thought it to be when Alex eagerly took it from her.
“What the hell is that?”
“Just a little oxy.” Alex said and Naomi climbed off to get a better view of her companion. Davin put a gentle hand on his to stop him.
“Alex come on, you've already taken something plus the opium from earlier.” Alex was high but anger flared in those deep brown eyes and he tore his hand away.
“Fuck off Davin! Holy shit, are you trying to bring me down and annoy me on purpose or is it just because you have cock on the brain and can't score so you're going to ruin my night as well, huh?” He was huffy now and opened the bag under his friend's hard stare. “Jesus, it's just been a few hours since you admitted you want it up the ass and already you're acting like such a fucking faggot!” Alex knew that was uncalled for, baked out of his skull or not. Davin's jaw tightened and his fist clenched for just a minute.
“God damn you, Alex. You know what, fine, have at it. Enjoy yourself, you fucking moron.” This was all said without being yelled and he knew that meant Davin was hurt badly and trying with all his will to not let his emotions burst out. Davin shook his head before turning and walking out the door and out of the club.
