Robert watched Betty as she slept, thinking about what had happened between them. He knew something had to give but he hadn't expect things to turn out as they had. He was certain he'd end up in bed with her somehow, just not so soon. ~There's no going back now, ~ He thought as he looked at her.

He had found she was still asleep when he came back from the bathroom. He had went in there to get rid of the used condom, get cleaned up a bit and to get a washcloth to clean her off too. She was already asleep when he had left her so he cleaned her thighs carefully as not to wake her then pulled the covers over her. He put the washcloth back in the bathroom before returning to the bed, pulling on his boxers before crawling in bed next to her.

He managed to squeeze in between her and the wall, her toppled stuffed animals at his back. He didn't want her waking up alone. He didn't know how she would take it if he were in another room when she roused. He wanted to be there in case she had any questions.

She looked beautiful as she slept, just like when she was awake. She seemed so delicate, so fragile as she slept. She kind of reminded him of a fairy tale princess with her pale skin and deep pink lips. Her hair was such a deep shade of blue black, it set off all of her other features in a way that inspired awe in him.

He studied her some more, admiring everything about her. He couldn't believe such a beautiful woman had been alone for so long. He was surprised that men hadn't been beating down her door. She may have been big for a woman but it was no reason to discount her beauty.

He had noticed she was pretty when they first met but ignored it for reasons he now found foolish. He had thought he still had some remnant of a marriage at the time and was still trying to be good. Besides that, Branslav was intensely interested in her and Robert thought they'd make a good match. He shut his eyes, wondering why he ever thought that in first place.

He knew why. He wanted his friend to be happy. Branslav didn't seem to be the same happy-go-lucky guy he was used to and wondered what was going on, his mind going back to the incident in the drive. The only other time he recalled raising his hand to his friend was when he had hit on Pauline.

Branslav seemed fiercely bent on getting Betty so Robert had tried to give him advice, all of which he was ignoring. The frustration over Branslav's stubbornness had finally became too much, causing the small fight. It was then when Robert realized just how intent Branslav was to get Betty and knew his friend would be devastated when he found out she didn't want him after all.

Betty sighed, causing him to open his eyes again. She moved a bit in her sleep, turning her face towards him. Her lips were parted and he listened to her breathe until he couldn't control the need to touch her again. He brushed her bangs away from her forehead, leaning in to kiss her forehead.

He heard her gasp and he pulled back to find he had woke her up. Betty at him for a long moment before whispering, “ Hey. “

“ Hey yourself, “ Robert replied. Her expression was unreadable and it concerned him. He cocked his head to the side, “ How do you feel? “

Betty had to think about it for a few moments. She felt different, inside and out. She really couldn't think of the words to describe it either outside of awkward. Finally, she sighed. “ I feel okay I guess. “

Robert furrowed his brow, “ Just okay? “

Betty nodded, “ Yeah. How long have I been asleep? “

Robert looked at the clock. " Not long. Maybe thirty minutes or so. I wasn't really watching the time. I was watching you. “

“ Oh, “ Betty sighed.

“ Yeah, “ Robert nodded. The air in the room seemed thick and heavy but in a different way than it had been before. He started to think he had done the wrong thing by the way Betty had looked at him.

Betty glanced at Robert. He looked like he was deep in thought as he stared at her, “ Are you okay? “

“ I'm fine, “ Robert said.

“ You don't look like it, “ Betty said. “ You look like something's wrong. “

“ Nothing is wrong. I'm just thinking about stuff, “ He sighed.

“ What kind of stuff? “ Betty rolled onto her side to look at him better, hissing when she did because of the pain in her lower abdomen. She glanced out of the corner of her eye to see he was wearing his boxers. Finding him next to her on top of the covers had been a surprise enough but him being a little bit dressed really stunned her.

Robert shrugged, “ Things. You. Tonight. “

“ Oh, “ Betty said.

Robert looked at her, “ So do you really feel okay? That hiss didn't sound too good. “

“ I hurt a little but I guess it's to be expected huh? “ Betty freed her right arm from the covers and laid it on top.

“ Yeah, “ Robert nodded. “ That's what I've heard anyway. Like I said, you were my first virgin. “

“ I remember, “ Betty nodded.

Robert looked Betty in the eyes, wanting to know the answer to the question that was bothering him the most. “ Tell me something. “

“ Anything, “ Betty said.

Robert took a deep breath then looked away. One question had been nagging at him and he just wanted to make sure he hadn't been wrong. “ I didn't make you feel like you had to do that, right? “

“ I wanted to, Robert. Don't think for a moment I didn't, “ Betty reached over with her right hand and put it on his cheek.

“ Really? “ Robert looked at her again. " I wasn't too pushy? "

“ No. You weren't, “ Betty said quietly. " I've been thinking about it for a while now. "

Robert's eyes went wide, " Really now? "

Betty nodded, " Yeah. I have. "

Robert then recalled he had walked in on her having dreams about him. He smiled, " Was it everything you thought it would be? "

She nodded then looked at the bed between them, “ But did I do it right? “

Robert smirked a little, “ I can't complain. You did pretty good for your first go. “

“ I kind of had some idea of what to do, “ Betty admitted.

“ After everything you've written I hope so, “ Robert replied with a strained chuckle.

Betty smirked at that, blushing a little. She then frowned, “ God. I feel all icky. “

“ Icky? “ Robert arched an eyebrow. “ What do you mean icky? “

“ I feel dirty, “ Betty said then noticed Robert's confused expression. “ I feel all sweaty and sticky. I'm going to need another shower in the morning. “

“ Oh. Yeah, “ Robert thought she meant another kind of dirty. “ I need a shower too. I just didn't want to leave you alone for too long. “

“ You didn't? “ Betty cocked her head to the side.

“ Nah. I didn't want you to wake up all by yourself, “ Robert said. " I wanted to be here for you in case you needed anything. "

Betty smiled. “ Thanks. “

There was another long silence, both of them at a loss for words. Robert couldn't think of anything else to say so he looked towards the bathroom. “ So, " He sighed.

“ So, " Betty replied.

Robert smirked as a thought entered his mind, “ So what were you thinking about me at the club the other night? “

Betty blushed, “ You aren't going to let that go are you? “

“ Inquiring minds want to know, “ Robert waggled his eyebrows. He was trying to abate some of the tension in the room by being silly. It had lessened a bit when Betty started smiling and laughing some.

Betty shook her head, “ You're a bad, bad boy. “

“ Maybe so. Maybe so, “ Robert sighed. " But I'll get it out of you somehow. "

" We'll see, " Betty sighed. She took her hand off his cheek, " So what do we do now? "

" Get some sleep, " Robert smiled then yawned. " I'm exhausted. "

" Me too, " Betty yawned.

Robert leaned in and kissed her. He pulled back and gave her the sweetest smile he could manage, " Goodnight for real this time. "

" Yeah, " Betty replied and closed her eyes.

Branslav stared out the window. He could normally sleep anywhere at any time but he was having trouble. He was feeling unsettled about a few things after leaving the truck stop and they were keeping him awake. He wondered what Martin was up to and how it involved the team.

Daniel stirred next to Branslav and he looked over at him. He waited as Daniel opened his eyes and looked around, “ Hey. Why are you awake? “ He whispered.

“ I can't sleep, “ Branslav muttered.

“ How come? “ Daniel asked then yawned.

“ I have a lot of stuff on my mind, “ Branslav looked out at the blackness as it rolled by.

“ Are you thinking about Betty again? “ Daniel arched an eyebrow.

“ A little bit, “ Branslav nodded. “ And some other things. “

Daniel knew what he meant and also knew Branslav didn't want him say anything about it around the team or on the bus. “ I'm sure Betty will be fine with Robert. “

“ I thought so too but I'm starting to wonder if it was a mistake to leave them alone considering everything he's going through right now, “ Branslav sighed.

“ Just because he's getting a divorce doesn't mean he's going to steal your girl. What got you thinking about that anyway? “ Daniel was perplexed. " You weren't worried about it before. "

“ I was just thinking about how they've been really friendly towards each other, “ Branslav shook his head. “ I know she's been talking to him about his problems but I'm scared something else will come from it. “

“ But I know Robert well enough. He's a good guy and he'd never take your girl. He doesn't seem the type, “ Daniel smirked. “ They do call him White Bread after all. “

Branslav shut his eyes, “ Yeah true. They do. "

" And hasn't he been telling you what to do to get her? " Daniel recalled something of the sort being said.

Branslav nodded, " He's been giving me advice but I'm not using any of it. I want to do this my way. "

" He's just trying to help you, " Daniel said. " Why won't you listen to him? "

" I guess I'm just scared something will happen to take Betty away from me. Fate brought her back to me and I don't want to let anything take her away again, “ Branslav sighed. " I'm just afraid that his advice might be wrong. "

Daniel nodded then frowned, “ But what if things just don't work out between you? “

“ Who said they wouldn't? “ Branslav glared at him.

“ No one but I'm just asking in case it does happen, “ Daniel scooted away from Branslav a little. He didn't like the way he was glaring at him over the valid question.

“ I'll win her over. It will just take time, “ Branslav said. “ I'll get her to fall in love with me. “

Daniel sighed, “ If you think so. “

“ I know so, “ Branslav snapped. “ We just have to spend time together and get to know each other. It will happen. “

Daniel sighed but said nothing else. Branslav was being too stubborn and he really didn't want to piss him off. “ Anyway, I think I'm going to go back to sleep now. I think you should too. “

“ I told you I can't, “ Branslav said.

Daniel shut his eyes, “ Well try. We have to win the game tonight. “

Branslav furrowed his brow, “ That's my line. “

“ Hey! “ Coach Sweet spoke in a hushed yet sharp tone. “ You two shut up. People are trying to sleep here. “

Branslav growled and looked at Daniel. He already had his eyes shut so he just slumped down in his seat to think. He had to come up with a plan to get Betty to love him. He hope winning the next two games would help him with that.

~ If I really shine, I'll get a contract and that will most certainly impress her, ~ He thought as he watched the night went by. ~Then maybe... just maybe... ~

Robert opened his eyes slowly, squinting because of the sunlight coming in through Betty's window. It wasn't the sunlight that woke him up completely him though. It was the fact he was alone. He sat up and looked towards the bathroom but couldn't hear Betty in there.

He started to get worried, wondering where Betty had gotten to. He looked at the clock and found it was a quarter after nine. He looked around the room again, the smell of something really good reaching his nose. His stomach growled as he realized Betty was probably in the kitchen.

He crawled out of the bed and went to where he thought she was, stopping in the doorway to watch her as she cooked. She had her robe on and one crutch, using it to hold onto to support her left side. It didn't seem to slow her down any as she tended to the food. He heard a bell ding and watched as she got the toast out of the toaster over.

She took it and put two slices on each plate before dishing out the eggs she had cooked. Once the plates were ready, she turned to the door. " Oh! " She jumped a little when she saw Robert, " I was just about to come get you. I didn't know you were up. "

" I couldn't sleep once I smelled the food, " Robert smiled. " Let me help you get that to the dining room for you. "

" Sure, " Betty stepped aside as Robert walked to the counter.

He picked up the plates and looked at Betty then at the dining room door. " After you honey. "

Betty nodded and walked to the dining room, Robert following her. " I was going to wake you once I had everything set up. "

" It's okay baby, " Robert said as he led the way. " You've done enough already. "

Betty sighed as she got to the table, " But I wanted to surprise you. "

Robert set the plates down on the table, " It was a big enough surprise to wake up without you there. Now, sit down and tell what else you were going to get. "

" I was going to get some jelly out of the fridge for the toast and the orange juice, " Betty said as she backed up to the chair.

" Let me help you with that, " Robert said as he put his arms under hers. He helped her into the chair, sighing as her chest touched his. He didn't move back once she was seated though, not wanting to let her go.

" Is there something wrong? " Betty asked quietly.

" Yeah, " Robert nodded. " I don't want to let you go just yet. You feel so good in my arms. "

" Oh, " Betty said as her cheeks colored slightly. She smiled a little, " You feel pretty good in mine too. "

Robert smiled, " Why do you have to be so cute when you do that? "

Betty stayed silent, not sure how to answer. She let out a surprised gasp when Robert took her lips in his, kissing her deeply. She returned it, copying his slow languid motions until he pulled away. " Wow, " She breathed.

Robert chuckled, " Yeah. You're catching on quick. "

" I'm a fast learner, " Betty smiled shyly.

Robert put his right hand on her left cheek, " That's good. I have a lot to show you. "

" Oh my, " Betty whispered as the color on her cheeks deepened. Though he hadn't said much, she had a pretty good idea of just how much he wanted to show her.

Robert kissed the end of her nose then sighed. " So when do you want to take that shower? "

Betty moved back a little, " I guess after breakfast. Do you want to take yours first then I'll take mine? "

Robert smirked and used his most seductive voice when he said, " We could always do it together. "

Betty blushed furiously again. The suggestion sent a wave of heat through her body, the mental imagery almost too much to handle, " Robert! "

Robert chuckled, " Damn it. I love it when you blush. "

" I hadn't noticed, " Betty replied with a giggle.

Robert looked into her eyes, being overwhelmed by the urge to kiss her again. He leaned into her, taking her lips in his, pleasantly surprised when she returned the kiss without hesitation. They kissed for a long moment when Robert pulled back to take a breath. He sighed, " We better eat before the food gets cold. "

" Yeah, " Betty whispered. " That wouldn't be good. "

Robert took a step back, " I'll go get that stuff now. "

" Hurry back, " Betty said as he walked away.
