The Beginning of the End
“Noriko, hide in here, quickly!” Her mother yelled as she shoved her into the living room closet.
“Mama, papa, sister, where are you, don’t leave me alone!” Noriko cried as she was thrown into darkness, only hearing the screams of her parents and her sister. She peeked through the crack of the closet to see her mother being held by her neck by the very thing her parents were so afraid of.
“You smell of sweet, sweet blood, I will enjoy devouring you.” The man smiled as Noriko’s mother screamed for her life. She looked a ways from where her mother was and saw her sister and father on the floor with puddles of blood around them. She let out a tiny yelp before smashing her hands over her mouth. She looked to see if the man heard her but he seemed to be too busy smelling her mother’s neck.
“Mama, no Mama don’t leave me.” Noriko whispered to herself. Her mom looked over to where she was and gave her a sad look while mouthing ‘I love you.’
“I love you too mama.” Noriko cried silently. Then the man bit into her neck and her mother let out a loud cry. Noriko covered her eyes and was helpless to her mother’s cries. She could only listen to her pleas as she was sucked dry of her blood by some mysterious man with sharp teeth. She wondered why these mysterious men were in her house and taking away her loved ones. She didn’t understand why someone would do such a thing.
“Miyazawa sir, we checked the perimeters and there are no survivors.”
“Good, humans don’t deserve to live, they are scum that need to be rid of.” Miyazawa said in a disgusted tone.
“I agree sir, shall we go now?”
“Yes, we’re done here.” Miyazawa said as he threw Noriko’s mother to the floor and he and his men walked out of her house. Noriko sat there as she saw her loved one’s bodies spread across the floor with blood everywhere and she knew that she would never hear their voices again, or see them smile at her. The realization hit her hard and fast, as she began crying her little heart out for her deceased family. She suddenly heard footsteps coming inside her house. She stopped her tears as good as she could and shook the fear that began to course through her body. The footsteps got closer and closer to the closet door and Noriko’s breath became very short and hard. The doorknob slowly turned and Noriko covered her ears in hopes that this was all a dream and that she would wake up in her warm bed and her mother, father and sister would be downstairs to greet her with loving smiles. But it wasn’t a dream, her life had been taken away in an instant by evil men. The door slowly opened and Norie slowly pried her eyes open to see who or what it was. She saw a man dressed in a white overcoat holding his hand out to her. Noriko hesitated for a moment, unsure of what she should do.
“I’m not here to harm you, come with me and you’ll be safe.” The man said as he kept his hand held out to her. His voice was so soothing and warming that she realized he was only there to help her. Where else was she suppose to go now? This was her only option, start a new life and later take revenge on those things that killed her family. She outstretched her hand to him and he pulled her up.
“My name is Hashimoto Tetsu, what is yours?” He asked bending down to Noriko’s height.
“Tashiro Noriko.” She said quietly.
“Okay Noriko, you’re my daughter now, I will help you get revenge on those monsters by training you.” He told Noriko, her new father. She nodded her head in agreeance.
“I know that monster that just killed your family, we go way back. We are of the same kind, but you see I am the good side of our kind.” He explained with a gentle smile. Noriko nodded, showing that she fully understood.
“Good girl, come with me to your new home.” He smiled to her and she smiled in return. He took her hand and led her out of her house, past her old life, to a new one.
~9 years later~
The world had began to become a wasteland of corpses of humans and animals. The vampires, the evil ones anyway, went on a rampage of killing any living thing in their path. The master of all vampires, Miyazawa Umito, was the vampire who killed Noriko’s family that fateful night nine years ago. She has now vowed revenge by training with a vampire of a good nature to take out those vampires who enjoy killing her kind, humans.
“Father, do you believe I am ready for my first mission?” Noriko asked with a stern expression.
“I believe so my daughter, you have grown into our best fighter…and you aren’t even a vampire.” He laughed as he turned around in his chair. Noriko smiled at her father.
“I’m glad you are smiling now, when I first brought you here, you were very scared and alone, you have learned to open up which is very good.” Tetsu told her, keeping the smile on his face.
“You have been a very generous father, thank you, for everything.” Noriko smiled bowing to her father.
“No need for such praise, I’m very glad to have you as my daughter and pupil.” He told her. Noriko smiled again, so thankful she had someone like Tetsu to guide her along.
“Your first mission will be to stop a small bunch of Miyazawa’s vampires in sector Z accompanied by my very experienced fighters.” Tetsu explained to Noriko and as he was explaining, five of his vampire fighters walked into the room.
“Noriko, these men will be your comrades from now on, please introduce yourselves to my daughter.” Hashimoto instructed.
“My name is Kadono Akihiro, I’m the leader of this group, nice to meet you.” He announced stepping back.” The other four introduced themselves and Noriko told them she was happy to be able to work with them.
“Now, you all know where to head, so do your best and Noriko, make me proud.” Tetsu said before they all walked out. Noriko nodded her head before she left. They all hopped into their given car for the job and began to drive to their destination.
“Are you ready to kick some evil vampire ass?” Akihiro asked suddenly breaking the silence.
“I’ve been ready for a long time.” Noriko told him with a slight smirk.
“I like that confidence, you’ll need it for the fight, so don’t lose it.” He said as he quickly switched gears. Noriko only answered him with a small tug of her lips. They arrived in a small town that was up in many flames.
“Damnit, were too late!” One of the men yelled as they all got out of the car.
“I thought we were suppose to be early!” Another yelled in anger.
“Something doesn’t feel right.” Akihiro said looking around.
“Yea, like they knew we were coming and we were set up.” Noriko added as she too looked around.
“You are one smart human Noriko, but you’re a little late for your cleverness to save you, you’re all dead as of now.” A deep, dark voice bellowed from the shadows. Noriko and her men heard a yell from behind them, they all quickly turned around to find one of their members gone.
“Alright men, be on alert, they could come from anywhere at anytime.” Akihiro yelled as they all circled up and were on the lookout for themselves and more importantly each other. There was a heavy fog around them, making it hard to see. There was also the howling wind wiping past them, playing tricks on their ears.
“Stop being cowards and fight us openly!” Akihiro yelled, becoming annoyed of playing hide and seek with them. Even with their heightened senses of being vampires, Noriko could tell it was hard for them to distinguish where they were. They all then heard an eerie snicker all around them, sending chills up Noriko’s spine.
“Insolent fools, we don’t play fair for anyone, especially for vampires who go against their nature and humans who are too unintelligent too understand where their place is. You all will perish here for what you feel so strongly for.” The voice shouted throughout the fog. As if out of nowhere the men started getting picked off one by one only leaving Akihiro and Noriko.
“This can’t be happening, we’ve never been picked off so easily, this must be Miyazawa’s main army.” Akihiro told Noriko as he intently looked around.
“That must mean that the voice talking to us was Miyazawa himself.” Noriko concluded.
“Exactly, and he is too much of a caitiff to fight head on, always only using his hit and run tactics.” Akihiro growled as he tightly clenched his fists. Noriko pulled her silver sword out to get ready for another attack, she had a feeling she would need it. Akihiro took his gun out and pointed it in front of him and moved it left and right peering through the scope.
“Alright you sons of bitches, where are you?” He whispered to himself. He spotted one and smirked.
“Ah ha, eat silver bitch!” He yelled as he pulled the trigger and the bullet went flying, hitting his target right in the heart.
“Nice hit, that’s one down.” Noriko told him.
“Yea and a lot more to go.” He smirked. Abruptly, a hoard of the vampires appeared around them looking ready to kill.
“Ready Noriko?” Akihiro asked getting into a good shooting stance.
“As ready as I could ever be.” She answered getting into a stance of her own. They quickly commenced towards them with immense speed and agility. They both began their killing and Akihiro quickly fired his bullets while dodging the other vampire's attacks. Noriko began slicing anything in her path with agile precision, making sure she didn’t spare them anything. Noriko and Akihiro made quick work of the vampires and felt a new confidence within themselves. Noriko especially since it was her first actual battle against the beasts that killed her family and she felt good giving them no mercy as they gave the same respect to her kin.
“I think we killed them all.” Akihiro smiled, sliding down to his knees.
“Yea, I hope so.” Noriko told him. She turned to look at him to see him slouched down with a small smile on his face.
“Are you okay, Akihiro?” Noriko asked walking closer to him. He looked up towards her. He jumped up and smiled.
“Never better.”
“Good.” Noriko said returning his smile. Noriko suddenly noticed a dark dot coming towards them, and it was coming fast.
“Akihiro, behind you!” She screamed as she tried to run to him as fast as her legs would allow her. She noticed it was him, Miyazawa, coming for their heads himself. He turned around, unfortunately too late, getting his throat slit.
“Akihiro!” Noriko screamed as she watched his body fall limp to the ground. Miyazawa disappeared so she ran over to Akihiro. She turned his head to face her.
“Akihiro, I‘m so sorry, we can’t complete our goal.” She said as she let a tear slip down her cheek.
“Don’t give up.” He choked out…his last words. Noriko looked upon his face with sadness and knew that their wasn’t a sliver of hope for her.
“Noriko, young and beautiful Noriko.” A voice called from behind her. She laid Akihiro’s head onto the ground and stood up. She didn’t turn around, she knew very well who the voice belonged to.
“Why haven’t you tried to kill me?” She asked.
“Beautiful and smart, I have plans for you, that is why.” Miyazawa explained. Noriko slowly turned around to see him looking calm and serene.
“What sort of plans, if it is for me to help you kill the human race, you might as well just kill me right here, right now.” Noriko told him in a low voice full of anger.
“Well that’s not up to is it? You will soon see.” He said as he appeared in front of her. Noriko didn’t even flinch, she kept her stern face firm.
“You’re mine from now on, whether you like it or not.” he smirked as he grabbed her and they were soon in an unknown cave. It was very dark and gloomy and it smelt of rotten iron.
“Where are you taking me?” Noriko angrily asked as he pulled her deeper into the cave. He did not answer as they walked through the dark, never ending cave. They finally reached an opening, which seemed to be the way out of the cave. Soon they were back outside and to the front of Noriko was a huge mansion. It was at least three stories high and 200 rooms long. Noriko was absolutely speechless, sure she had heard of a mansion this big but had never actually believed it to be true.
“Welcome to my lair, your new home as my prisoner and slave.” He smiled sending Norie a creepy vibe.
“I know you have some kind of motive for taking me as your prisoner and I’m letting you know that you will not succeed, you will someday taste the sweet steel of my sword.” Noriko growled, gritting her teeth at him.
“Don’t make me laugh, a pitiful human declaring to kill me will never manage such a feat.” He replied as he lowered his face to hers.
“This human is different.” Noriko shot back, matching his stare. He smirked, standing up straight.
“Come, I have someone for you to meet.” He told her as he began yanking her to his mansion. The big red doors opened and Noriko was brought into a room too big to imagine. A long winding staircase was on the other side of the room from her and went up into the blackness that was above her. He walked her up the stairs, only to the next floor of the mansion. They began walking down a long hallway, red carpet and paintings of what seemed to be ancestors of Miyazawa. He stopped her in front of two large silver doors. The two doors opened and Noriko saw two other women who seemed to be slaves. They walked in and there was a large bed to the left of her covered in satin red sheets and black silk lace wrapping around the beds posts. Otherwise the room only held old paintings, a bookcase and a dresser. There was another door on the opposite side of the room from the bed.
“My son, I have brought you a new slave, I have plans for her so treat her better than the other slaves.” Miyazawa said as he stared at the other door. Soon it opened and a young man appeared. He had shorter black hair and piercing green eyes. He walked up to Noriko and smirked.
“She’s much cuter than the others but father may I ask, is she-
“Yes, she is Hashimoto’s daughter, she is an important key to our future so make sure you‘re not too rough.” Miyazawa said cutting his son off.
“Yes, I understand.” He told his father.
“Good, you are now my son’s slave so anything he asks of you, you do, understood?” Miyazawa asked her.
“Or what?” Noriko snapped.
“I will come up with a different plan that does not involve you alive.” He told her as he wore a smug smile. Noriko only glared at him. He laughed and then walked out of the room. Suddenly, she felt hands on her shoulders turning her around. It was Miyazawa’s son. He began tracing his fingertips over the side of her neck. He bent her head to the side and pushed the hair that was still on her neck away. He started to lightly lick her neck with his smooth tongue, sending eerie shivers throughout Noriko’s body.
“Your skin is succulent, any other vampire would suck you dry right where you stand but there’s more to you than just tasting good, you hold the key to our full domination over the human race and those insolent vampire that side with you weak humans.” He began. “So it would be a huge waste to kill you now but just you wait until every other human is dead including your vampire friends and vampire daddy, your all mine then.” He whispered into Noriko’s ear.
“So your using me to draw out my father?” Noriko asked in short breaths as his closeness was making her a little afraid because she had no idea what to expect from him.
“My father said you were exceptionally smart for a human.” He smiled as he let go of her face.
“You’re not going to get away with this, we will stop you.” She told him, flashing him a glare.
“Oh you mean you humans and the ‘so called’ vampires, not likely, your dad is already on his way here to die by saving you, how sweet.” He told her as he got so close to her, his nose was almost touching hers.
“He’s not stupid to walk into a weak trap you guys have planned, you and your father are not as smart as you believe.” Noriko responded, not flinching at his closeness.
“We’ll see when your daddy gets here then won’t we.” He smirked and then disappeared.
“Father, please be careful.” Noriko said as she slid down onto her knees.
“I couldn’t bare to lose you as well.”
