Aloe Vera--part four
An excerpt from the Masaka and Paiyoko backstory by Setsuna Jikan

Miei pinched the bridge of his nose and let out an aggravated sigh. This is exactly why he should never, ever, do anything for Kashuu. Ever.
~"Miei! I left my dress in my room! Go get it for me!" Kashuu whined, hanging off his arm. Miei glared at her.
"Why don't you go get it and leave me alone?" he demanded, and Kashuu's eyes widened.
"I have to shower!" she shrieked in his ear and he swore.
"Fine! Fine, damnit! I'll get your fucking dress! Sheesh!"~
Crouching down, he stared at the miserable lump lying on the floor for a few more moments before sighing again, hand reaching down to shake a shoulder.
"Hey. You okay?" he asked lowly. A miserable chuckling sound came from the lump.
"Yeah, just peachy keen. Go 'way, Miei. You don't want a part of this." Miei arched an eyebrow.
"Masaka, what the fuck is with you?" he asked flatly, trying to turn Masaka onto his back so he could look at him. Masaka fought him frantically, almost breaking Miei's nose at one point. Snarling, Miei had enough, wrenching Masaka from the floor and flipped him. Masaka cried out, his head slamming into the rock floor and Miei quickly pinned him. Breathing harshly, Masaka was glaring angrily at him, still trying to get away.
"Damnit Miei get off me!" he shouted, baring his teeth with a snarl. Miei didn't answer, just stared at him coolly. Now that he had a chance to look at him, Miei knew something was up.
Masaka's clothes were severely disheveled, even torn in a few places, his hair and fur were knotted and completely mussed, and unless Miei was wrong (and with all the time he spent around Kashuu he highly doubted that) there were dried tear-stains on his cheeks.
Masaka was still shouting at him. Coldly, Miei interrupted him.
"What happened to you?" Masaka sneered at him, bristling; Miei felt the shudder that ran through him.
"Nothing and none of your goddamn beeswax," he shouted, still trying to break free. Without warning, Miei got up, leaving Masaka lying confused on the floor. Before Masaka could get the idea to leave Miei'd come back. Not saying a word, he briskly wiped Masaka's face with a wet cloth. Masaka stared at him, confused.
"What the hell are you doing," he asked, and Miei scowled.
"Helping," he said shortly, hoisting Masaka to his feet, brushing the sand off him in quick movements. With a simple push Masaka was now sitting on Kashuu's bed and Miei was dragging over her chair. Wordlessly, the two men stared at each other.
"So what's wrong," Miei asked again; Masaka looked off to the side.
"Just something you really don't want to hear," he said quietly, and Miei arched a brow.
"I've known Paiyoko for seven years; nothing you say could possibly wig me out anymore that the stuff he's said and done." Miei saw Masaka flinch. "Aaaaand it’s something to do with Paiyoko. What's the little brat done now?" he asked, exasperatedly. Just one day. He'd like one day without Paiyoko doing something monumentally stupid. Masaka gnawed on his bottom lip.
"Okay. I got Paiyoko sunburned yesterday so he's ticked at me to begin with and Kashuu gave me this gel to put on his burns called aloe vera and it does seem to help alleviate the burns but its a gel so things happen with gel and I got him excited but I know that he'd be even more pissed at me later but every time I go in there things keep going further and further and he jumped me last time and I can't hold off anymore I can't!" Masaka said in a rush, ending in almost a panicked shriek. Miei felt bad. It wasn't always apparent, but Masaka was the youngest in the camp, living through only twenty-two years of his life; a mere eleven-year-old by Sakyuun standards. But he wasn't Sakyuun, and that was what made moments like these so jarring.
Sighing, Miei ran a hand through his loose sliver hair, giving Masaka a few moments to get himself settled again.
"Listen," he started, "I'm going to give you some advice. This is a one time deal, get it, so you better listen close. You're the only one who's putting the gel on Paiyoko, correct?" Masaka eyes narrowed with a predatory glint and he nodded once, shortly. "Then there's no way to avoid another confrontation. Next time he comes on to you, let him. He might be sore and slightly irritated at you later but if you keep pushing him away like you're doing now it's not going to end well. For either of you. He'll probably assume you don't want to be with him any more and hunt down another lover, which I'm guessing is not the message you want to convey." Masaka had gone a little pale at the 'Paiyoko running off with another man' idea and he shook his head no. "So let him do what he wants. Later, even if he tries to blame you, he came on to you; you're obviously still inexperienced"--Masaka bristled at that--"and there's no way you'd've been able to hold him off." Miei stood up suddenly, strolling out the door, pausing only long enough to grab a dress off a hook. Masaka sat on the bed for a while longer, chewing over what Miei had said.
