Chapter 4: Lavender and Blood Drenched Demon

“This… This feels violating” whined Deimos with a grimace on his face as he held his arms up like a `T' as he got measured by the rather touchy female tailor.

“Just grin and bare it Deimos” said Dante with jaws clasped and grating while his hands threatened to break under the pressure of being clenched. Whilst Deimos felt violated, he on the other hand was practically seething with rage. And it was all directed towards the big busted, giggly brunette female of a tailor who was still oblivious to his hate for her despite it rolling off him in waves as he watched her measure Deimos in a too friendly overly touchy manner. How dare she!

“Why do I need a suit in the first place” Deimos let out a squeak when a needle pricked him, it was followed by small giggles from the tailor.

Anger swelled up like a volcano but he controlled himself... barely. “You said so yourself, look for the richest man in the biggest house right?”

Another squeak followed by another giggle “Yeah but what does that have anything to do with suits?”

“Well…” said Dante, drawing out the words as if he were speaking to a child. “You're going to need a suit if you're going to a party aren't you?”

“Party? What party?” realization and excitement hit him “You mean the party with lots of and lots of food?”

Dante chuckled, amused at the fact that Deimos was so easy to please “Yes, yes but you have to remember that you'll be going as a decoy.”

Deimos pouted “But that's no fun, what will you go as?” he asked.

“As a servant of course, that way no one will be suspicious if they see me wandering around the mansion.”

“Ah! True!”... But what makes you think we'll get into the party?” Deimos tilted his head cutely to the side. Out of no where he suddenly gave a high pitched `eep!' when the female tailor gave him a pinch on the rear before disappearing behind the doors no doubt to gather fabrics and materials. She gave a sly, cheeky wink before she drew the curtains closed.

“Thank fuck she's gone” said Deimos with a sigh of relief as he sat on the stool and stretched his muscles. “When is the party anyway?”

“Tonight” said Dante thickly. Only now did he notice that Deimos was half naked from the waist up. Blinded by anger and jealousy before, he now had the time to savor the slice of sin in front of him. Dante could see why so many were enthralled by such a demon. Deimos was no longer wearing that black shirt that he had once called a `tank top'. And now because of that; toned muscle that was neither too small nor too bulky flexed and rippled under an expanse of deliciously even tanned skin that was void of any flaws was clearly visible. Deimos looked at the ceiling, the nape of his neck and collar bone was shown and looked almost edible. Abs and pecs that looked firm and tight moved taut by even breathing. All of this, enhanced by slightly long white hair that narrowed and curled ever so slightly at the nape of his neck and to top everything off, amber eyes that promised nothing but bittersweet pleasure and warmth blazed a molten honey. His legs were still covered by coarse black material that Deimos had called `denim' but still Dante could see how mouthwateringly toned and long they were. The demon in front of him was more than just sex on a stick. He was a god and Dante had only seen from the waist up.

“When the hell did you get all this information?” asked Deimos with an arrogant smirk, as if he had seen or known that Dante had been staring.

Dante blushed a shade of cherry red and turned away “During the meeting in the tavern of course. It just didn't click until a while ago that it might've been the person we were looking for.”

“I see…” suddenly Deimos stiffened at the sound of rustling fabric and the swishing of a skirt. “Oh shit! She's back!” and right on cue entered the female tailor, a large grin smeared on her face whilst holding blocks of fabrics and stools of thread. “Please” she said with a happy and yet sinister dark look. “Sit down and it will be over too soon yes?” The following three hours and a half were filled with terrified pain filled yips and yelps by Deimos and high pitched giggling from the tailor. The constant sound of Dante grating his teeth in annoyance and jealousy created a harsh background noise through the whole ordeal.

“That will be a total of 5 gold coins and 12 slivers” said the tailor, the Cheshire cat grin still on her face. She winked at Deimos who was currently hiding behind Dante whilst trembling, a constant terrified expression on his face.

“You sure only that much?” he was slightly surprised. He assumed a suit would cost a lot more than what she was charging. But then again…

The tailor giggled, her grin widening “50 percent discount, I don't know about you but that was the most fun I've had in a long time with this job. I've never had such a cute customer!” she waved her hand towards Deimos in greeting who had been peeking over Dantes shoulder. Deimos let out an `eep!' and huddled closer to Dante shaking.

Dante's eyebrow gave a twitch that was barely noticeable but still, it was a twitch. “Thank you” he grumbled to the tailor as he handed her the coins. He was thankful for the discount since he was already tight on money. He wasn't even sure if he could have paid if she had offered the full or higher price but it he was confident they would've somehow gotten special treatment after all it was Deimos; who by the way was still shaking.

“Come on now… it couldn't have been that bad” he patted Deimos on the back reassuringly. In any case he was the one who had to watch it. Watch his demon being touched by `that' female. The jealousy and emotions that he had felt in such a short time period because of what happened was enough to last him a lifetime!

“You weren't the one getting groped and stabbed with needles!” exclaimed Deimos who now looked rather frazzled and offended.

Dante patted Deimos' back in a comforting gesture, guilt beginning to eat him up. After all he did purposely seek a female tailor knowing that they would somehow get special treatment but even through he had gotten what he needed his plan had somewhat backfired on him… hard. “I'm sorry you had to go through that, no more tailor's from now on. I promise.”

“You better” muttered Deimos with a huff, his arms were crossed and he seemed to be sulking. It was a childish trait only capable of being done by either children or Deimos. “So what are we gonna do till the party?” he asked.

“”There's nothing much else really” Dante looked up at the sky and saw the glaring sun “How bout we just kill time till the party starts?”

A smile finally appeared on Deimos' face, “Sure! But what about your clothes?” he asked.

Dante gave a nonchalant shrug with a smug look. “That's simple; I'm just going to steal a pair of uniform when we get there”.

“Oh, Mmkay then” he gave a nod of understanding and then there was a pause. “Dante?” he questioned.

“Hmn?” Dante looked back at Deimos who had a guilty look on his face. “What is it?” he pried.

“I'm bored… and hungry” he said with a sheepish grin.

Dante looked at Deimos with a strange expression on his face before looking up at the sky. “Then how about we go get something to eat and then do something to kill time for a while?”

“Really?” excitement was evident in his voice.

“Of course you idiot. I wouldn't have suggested it if I wasn't going to go through with it.” Also, he still felt guilty from the tailor incident earlier. So he would make up for it by spoiling the demon at least for today. Anyways, they were going to get paid soon so money wasn't going to be an issue.

“Yay! What are we gonna eat? Where we gonna play? Asked Deimos while jumping around like an exuberant puppy.

“I don't know, how about we go get some steak sandwiches? Then find a nice quiet place to eat it at. I doubt well find a nice quiet place through, at least not in this town.

“What sort of nice place are you thinking of?”

“Hmn… a park maybe? A nice clearing will do too, as long as it's quite.”

“Lavender?”

“What?”

“Will a field of lavender do?” asked Deimos innocently; he's eyes big and doe-eyed.

“Sure why not? But it's not like there's any near here”. Dante tugged on a lock of Deimos's white hair.

“But there is” insisted Deimos who did not whimper and whine as his usual reaction. In fact he looked rather serious. “There's one a few miles up ahead, not very far.”

Dante stopped to look back at Deimos, “You sure?”

Deimos smiled cutely, “Yup!” he said, proud and confident.

Dante tugged on the lock of hair once more, savoring the soft silky texture a bit longer before letting go. “Fine then, let's go eat there. I'll go buy the food and then we'll head there okay?”

“Really? Yay!” Deimos turned around and was about to run ahead to god knows where when Dante suddenly pulled the back collar of his shirt. Deimos w as pulled flushed against Dante's chest. His eyes widened in surprise at such a close contact.

Dante's breath, gentle and warm tickled against his ear. “Deimos?” asked Dante in a soothing voice of caramel.

Deimos took in a gulf of air not sure of what to do. “Y-yeah?” he asked with uncertainty in a husky strangled voice.

Dante gave a knowing smirk, “If we don't find that so called lavender field of yours- in a fluid rush of movement he placed Deimos in a headlock. “There will be hell to pay” he finished with a devilish laugh. He continued to walk on with Deimos still under his arm.

“Leggo! Dante come on le' me go” screamed Deimos as he tried to free himself without much success. All Dante did was laugh merrily as he dragged Deimos through town.

There was a lilac sea on land. The scent of lavender whispered with the fleeting wind. It was a delicate scent that was powerful and yet not engulfing. The sprigs of blossoms swayed to and throw in unison like the waves in the sea. It was such a wild and untamed field that traveled as far as t he eye could see and beyond. It wasn't just the lavender that was ever so perfect either. The sky above was a calm baby blue dusted with fluffy white clouds that seemed so close and yet so far away. Every now and then a flock of birds would fly past. In the midst of such a tranquil scene, deep within the depths the lavender sea; two very relaxed males lay content.

“Life is worth moments like this” uttered Dante with a sigh of satisfaction. Half a steak sandwich with its wrapper still intact rested on his lean and toned stomach. He was lying on his back, arms underneath his head as a pillow and looking at the sky. “Hey Deimos finish the sandwich for me will you?” Without any more urging needed, Deimos unwrap the sandwich and placed the whole thing in his mouth. He successfully managed to chew and swallow his food but not without making himself look like a squirrel with its cheeks stuffed with nuts. With an adorable grin on his face he plopped himself down, his head on Dante's stomach. He let out a content sigh that sounded almost like a purr. Dante was far too relaxed himself to do his usual action of scolding.

“Feels nice” muttered Deimos, his voice gently muffled by the thick wool of Dante's sweater. He nuzzled Dante's tummy in an almost animalistic manner. Dante blushed a vivid scarlet at such an intimate touch. “Ah… we should go to a field of fireflies before that's gone too.”

Dante gave a chuckle of amusement as he looked at Deimos whose eyes were drooping in a sleepy manner. “What on earth are you talking about? We have heaps of places like this.”

“I remember a time where everything was grown in rows, neat ones that were almost identical to the next. Houses too you know? They reached the sky, like blocks of wood stacked high.”

“Sounds convenient” Dante reached down to stroke Deimo's hair. It was like stroking a pet. Cute.

“You really think so? I thought it looked rather ugly, everything looked the same, even the food.” Dante let out an arrogant scoff “But you're right. It is convenient, very much so.”

Dante yanked a white lock of hair with slight pressure. “Oi what's all this about?” he looked slightly annoyed or concerned. “Such a cocky mouth” he gave a tsk.

“I'm not cocky” Deimos stuck out his tongue in a cheeky manner. “It's just things I remember that's all.” he let out a childish giggle “They were so close and yet so far away.”

Dante frowned, “You're not making any sense now.”

Deimos yawned and did his nuzzling thing again, “Don't worry, you'll see what I mean eventually.”

“I doubt it but yeah, yeah” Dante let out a yawn also, his Demon's sleepiness was contagious. He looked down at Deimos who seemed to be asleep, the steady breathing that the demon let out was a gentle sound only broken when the wind whispered a bit too much or when the occasional bee buzzed noisily by. His eyes felt heavy so he shut them closed. `Ah well' he thought, they had time to kill anyway. Some sleep wouldn't hurt them. He drifted off after that train of though and sleep embraced him like a sweet caress.

`Where the hell was he!?” one moment he was asleep and the next he finds himself... here? Where the hell was `here'? Dante looked around only to have the view shift and contort. A dream maybe? He looked around only to find another world. A sudden thought flashed through him like a bucket of icy water. Where the fuck was Deimos? Dante took a step forward, surprised by how much he sank into the snow.

Drip…
Drip…
Drip…

Dante let out an annoyed groan. What now?

Drip…
Drip…
Drip…

Heaeding towards the eerie sound Dante took note of the world around him. It was rather beautiful really. Such a pretty white all around and yet it was somehow lonesome as well. After all in this whole place the only footprints were made by him. The only sound he could hear was that of his own breathing and that constant `drip, drip, drip' in which he was heading towards.

He had been walking for ages. He wasn't tired but the constant dripping noise was starting to annoy him. Should he just ignore it and walk away? Urgh... he was too curious to walk away from it damnit! With a scowl he headed towards the noise at a faster pace and more determination. `Al this effort better be worth it' he muttered to himself, his earlier feeling of peace now gone. Now it was replaced with a feeling of urgency. Of course by now he was sure he was dreaming so why the sudden rush? He was breathing heavily now as he ran. Snow crunched beneath his feet, his breath was foggy and he could hear his own heart beating. Damnit it was cold! Then he saw it, a flash of red. His eyes widened and his thundering heart stopped. Deimos?

He was glad the scene in front of him was nothing but a dream. If it wasn't then he wasn't sure he would be sane still. There was so much blood, too much. In front of him was a mountain of corpses, blood soaked the land like a sponge. Weapons lay askew, embedded in the earth and dripping blood but it wasn't the dripping he had heard through. Torn flesh and bone was scattered around like rubbish and the crisp scent of snow was replaced with a pungent and coppery smell. In the centre of such a blood bath looking at something and yet nothing was... Deimos? It couldn't be what he saw in front of him was a monster.

But the similarities were strange. Both had the same hair color, the same color eyes, build and height but that was where the similarities ended. The thing in front of him stood all and proud as it stared at something beyond the blood bath. Long snowy hair beached to his waist, it was the only part of him that wasn't drenched in blood. He wore an elaborate white trench coat with embellishments that signified a rank of some sort. Save for its hair he was dusted in coppery blood. Out of no where a raven flew in a flurry of wings and landed on the hilt of an embedded weapon. It let out a livid squawk that caught attention of the monster. He, the monster, turned around and Dante's chest felt heavy and tight. Was it fear that he felt?

Blank eyes devoid of any warmth or compassion looked at him and saw right through him. Seeing and yet blind, empty and filled with hate and contempt that was buried deep beneath such loneliness that they screamed in silent agony to the point where everything melded together and faded into nothingness. Not once had he ever seen such eyes on Deimos, Dante felt a slight relief.

Drip…
Drip…
Drip…
Drip…

That constant dripping that lead him to such a creature. He looked down at the origins of that sound. He let out a gasp and a step backwards. Now that the Deimos look alike was facing him, Dante had finally figured out what the dripping was. The monster's left arm was missing; its left sleeve was ripped and bloodied. From the copper sleeve was a steady dripping of blood. Droplets of blood fell onto a world that was no longer white but a vibrant crimson.

Dante looked back at the monster's face, its expression unchanged from before. Unexpectedly the empty expression broke into a gentle smile. A gentle smile that did not reach its eyes, a gentle smile that seemed so familiar.

“Dei-?” before he could finish the word, the sound of releasing arrows cut through the silence and soon enough their presence darkened the already night sky. They swallowed the stars and headed towards earth. Bodies upon bodies and weapons upon weapons, in this graveyard there was no fucking shelter! Doing the first thing that came to his mind Dante places his arms protectively over his head. Useless as it was it was something at least. In the corner of his eyes Dante saw the monster eyes looking up at the sky as if watching the weather. As the arrows drew nearer it placed a hand over contradicting eyes, shielding them form the sun that was not there.

“Idiot! Protect yourself! Deimos!” screamed Dante but his words fell on deaf ears and as the arrows began to rain in, everything turned black.

Author's Note: I'm still alive! It's just that… well... I did something rather stupid. All the subjects I chose for this year… all involve essay writing, I can handle essays… just not when they pile up like no tomorrow. I dug my own grave in this… anyways! The next chapter is halfway finished, should be up in a month. Thanks for all the people that read this story. Thanks to all the people that wait for it, thanks for all the people that comment on it and sooo sorry for the long wait. Oh… this chapter is kinda longer than the rest... as an apology for the long wait I guess. :3

There's gonna be something like a `scene' in the next chapter... Wonder if it will work out…
