Chapter 1 - Insanity


As soon as Anne made it back into her house she felt a crack on the back of her head. That was the last thing she remembered.

When Anne woke up there was nothing but darkness around her, and the young girls throat was terribly sore. "Hello?" Was all the girl could get out before coughing. It felt as though she had dust cutting her throat when she spoke.

"Well, it appears our young beauty has finally awoken. What a pleasant surprise. You should still be out for another hour, or more." A deep, masculine voice responded to Anne's meek question. Then, as if on cue, a blind fold was removed from her eyes. That was when the girl realized that she hadn't been in the dark, but she had rather been to tired and shocked to realize that she had a fabric over her eyes. However when she tried to look around, Anne could not because her eyes were not easily getting accustomed to the light. "I'll bring you some food in an hour or so. Stay here until then." The man laughed, knowing that there was no way for the girl to leave even if she tried.

Soon after that Anne stopped bothering trying to look around until she heard scuffling footsteps in the room by her. That was when she shot her eyes open again, and cried out in pain. "Oh I'm so sorry, Anne, I think that was your name. But please don't try to look around. That will just make this so much more painful for you. I know from experience." This time it was a young girls voice that spoke out, "my name is Felicity, I'm your new room mate. Once you get used to Josh's techniques you'll see that he is not to awful of a man. He just makes it hard on anyone when they first come because then they can't scream and draw attention here. I've been here five months now, and he hasn't hurt me once. He's just fed me and made sure I've been happy and healthy."

Anne kept her eyes closed and tried to respond but found it too hard on her, so she decided to just listen to Felicity. She had no idea why she had ended up in some strange place. All she had wanted to do was find out why her mother had given her something that could possibly infect her, or at least cut her. The god's however had decided for a much different plan of action to occur that evening for her.

"Anne.. do you want me to place the blindfold back on so that you don't have to strain to keep your eyes shut? Just nod yes and I can do that for you." Anne nodded towards Felicity's voice, and then sighed in relief as she felt the cover go back on. "Don't worry. I'll keep you safe. So long as you are with me, no one will hurt you."

Anne felt reassured by the girl, even though she couldn't see her and had no idea what was going on around her. With the blindfold back on, Anne closed her eyes and decided to go back to sleep. The medication hadn't fully worn off her yet.

A little while later, or at least what felt like only a little while, Anne woke up to the gentle shaking of her shoulder. "Wake up! Wake up! Josh is coming with food, and believe me, you are only going to want to eat it while it is still hot." Felicity kept on shaking the girl until she moaned and sat up, pulling off her blind fold. Then she heard the girl scuffle away from her and the door open moments later.

"Nice to see that you are still awake. How are you feeling my beauty? And sorry about earlier, but I just wanted to bring you here, where you would be safest." Josh said softly. Or at least that's who she presumed the masculine voice belonged to. His voice was deep, but not as frightening now, as if he was talking in a softer and kinder tone then before.

Anne cleared her throat a couple of times before trying to respond, "I'm...as good" she cleared her throat again, "as to be ex..pected," she coughed this time before continuing, "for a kid..napped girl." Her eyes opened this time, and she had no need to cry out in pain, she could actually see this time, and when she looked up at Josh, her mouth fell open in awe at his handsome figure. He was tall with short, sandy brown hair that was spiked up, making him look a little more fun then scary, Josh also had piercing green eyes that made a girl want to quiver under his penetrating stare. She also realized that he had to be a boy of her own age, twenty at oldest, sixteen at youngest. Maybe everything would be all right, she might be able to reason with him.

"Well Anne, you will come to realize, as Felicity did, that being in here is a lot safer then being out their with looks like ours." Josh smiled sadly as he said this and set down a tray that contained chicken noodle soup, milk and a piece of apple pie. "I hope you enjoy your meal, and before you ask, it is really safe to eat. We wouldn't want to poison our newest guest of honor. Oh, and Felicity darling, your food is on its way as well. I'll see you both in the morning." With that, the mysterious Josh walked out of the room, closing the door once more and leaving Anne with more questions.

"Oh Anne, I hope were getting the same meal, that looks absolutely fantastic." Felicity smiled sheepishly at the girl and offered out a hand to her. "Now that you can see me, we should be properly introduced, I'm Felicity Erin, seventeen year old.. beauty apparently." The girl had dark brown hair that went down just passed her shoulder blades. She had a soft jaw line and strong cheekbones, it was obvious that she was beautiful, and her eyes, they were as brown as her hair and almond shaped, making her look so innocent. It was obvious why Josh would call her a beauty.

"I'm Anne Fairweather," She croaked out, taking Felicity's hand and giving it a curt hand shake before looking towards her food. Anne grabbed a spoon and started to eat her soup, as lady like as possible, while she watched Felicity's meal of grilled lemon chicken breast with a side of rice and a tossed salad come in. The girl also had a glass of milk and a piece of apple pie for dessert like Anne. "Looks good." Was all the response out of Anne before she returned to her own meal.

"I'm terribly sorry that we don't have the same meal. Once your throat is healed though, that will be another story, then we will have the same meal guaranteed." Felicity smiled at her new friend Anne and also turned to her meal.

Once the two teens were finished enjoying their meals Anne looked up at Felicity and spoke, her voice gaining strength, "I'm sixteen and confused why they think I'm a beauty." She smiled and crawled onto one of the two beds, the one that looked less used and closed her eyes, deciding she was ready for more rest.

Felicity also crawled into the other bed and shook her head at Anne. The girl was gorgeous, with her hazel eyes, button nose and thin eyebrows. Her hair was also a dark red that had tints of brown through it. Felicity thought that Anne looked better then her, and decided she would have to put her thoughts up to test and ask Josh in the morning. Tucking herself under the covers, Felicity turned to face the wall and fell asleep quickly, much before Anne. The other girl had a hard time falling asleep, and it became harder once Felicity started snoring. 'Someone is comfortable here' she thought to herself.
