Blood Lust
He lied there bleeding, unable to move, paralyzed momentarily, but long enough for Daryl to get away. It really is true that on the brink of death you change into a killer. I didn't want to believe it, but now I have no choice. Aiden had been chasing after Daryl for six hundred years, every year just like the last they would meet in a bloody confrontation and Daryl would always escape somehow.
“I have to get somewhere safe, at least until I'm strong enough to be at school. That dagger's what paralyzed me, the magical enchantments on it are meant to weaken any vampire, but since my abilities and strength aren't as strong as those of a full-blooded vampire, I was paralyzed.”
He sat in an abandoned, run down church; the church gave off a spiritual barrier hiding his aura from the world outside. He slept until the next morning when he was fully healed, and his wounds were less noticeable, yet they would leave a scar. The scar crossed over his collarbone in the shape of an “X”. He walked to school looking over the surroundings. He worried of Daryl What if he comes after me while I'm with other people. Aiden pondered about this as he continued his steady pace to school. As he entered the building the bell rang making him late for class…again. He opened his locker and pulled out some chemistry books for first period. He slammed the locker shut and walked down the hallway; he looked to his left and saw a beautiful girl, with perfectly tanned skin like she spent most of her time in the sun, standing at a locker unloading her bookbag. She was wearing baggy jeans that pulled just under her feet ripped at the heel. She had a plain black hoody draped over her shoulder, she had on a black sweater and a tight pink shirt over it. Aiden was unable to see her eyes from her current position. Her raven black mane fell to her lower back and dropped just above her eyes. She closed her locker just as Aiden continued down the hall. She turned as Aiden disappeared around the corner, she ran to catch up with him. Aiden turned around to see her running up behind him. She slowed as he turned.
“Need help?” Aiden asked looking into her smokey grey eyes.
“Yes, I'm new here and I don't know where my classes are.” She said pulling out her schedule from her bag. Aiden scanned over the schedule and saw they had the same classes. “Just come with me.” Aiden said handing her back her schedule.
“Oh my name's Jill.” Jill said extending her hand.
“Aiden, you're gonna be my excuse for being late. Okay?” Aiden replied as he shook her hand.
“Yeah.” They continued down the hall to room 216. As they were walking Jill looked over Aiden's features. His eyes were violet-blue his jet-black hair dropped to his mid-upper back and fell over his eyes. He wore a shirt that was tight and black and was covered by a leather jacket torn at the wrist. His pants were baggy, with chains over the sides and he regularly stepped on the back of the pant with his heel. His skin was pale, but not an unhealthy pale. They reached the room and stepped inside. The teacher turned and gave him a stern look. “Late again Aiden.”
“Yes.” Aiden said taking his seat in the back corner. Jill walked in after Aiden did, as soon as she did all eyes were on her especially the guys'.
“And you are?” Mr. Lee asked taking the schedule from Jill's hands.
“Jill.”
“Well, Jill welcome to our school. Take a seat next to Aiden please.” Jill took her seat next to Aiden and pulled out her chemistry book.
“Alright, class turn to page 347.” Aiden slammed his book onto his desk. Jill looked over at Aiden who had slipped on his headphones. She could hear the thumping music from where she was sitting so well. The teacher turned and looked over at Aiden who was nodding his head to the music. Mr. Lee turned around knowing it was pointless to argue with him about the headphones again. Jill was only awake through the first few minutes of class, then fell asleep. Aiden turned to her when class was close to ending, he tapped her lightly on the shoulder. Jill slowly pulled her head up looking over at Aiden. Aiden tapped his watch to indicate class was ending. Jill put her book in her bag and collected her papers. The bell rang, Aiden and Jill darted for the door.
“What class do we have next?” Jill asked looking behind her.
“World history.” Aiden said dropping his head.
“Let me guess, you don't like it.”
“Most boring class ever.” Aiden said as he heard his name being called. His friend Brad was running down the hall towards him and Jill. Brad wore a black button up shirt that was unbuttoned enough to show the top of his built, yet firm chest. His black hair long in the front and short towards the back with the tips being green. He picked green because he felt it would go good with his emerald eyes. His pants defined his figure from the waist down.
“Brad.” Aiden said turning around.
“Who's this?” Brad asked looking over Jill's figure.
“Jill.” Aiden said simply putting a protective arm over Jill's shoulder. Jill didn't mind, she actually like it, then she wrapped her arm around Aiden's waist.
“Let's get to class before Mrs. B. chews us up.” Brad said walking past Aiden and Jill. Aiden looked over at Jill and pulled her closer. Jill didn't mind when Aiden pulled her closer, she leaned her head on his shoulder and they walked to class. They entered the room and took their seats in the back. Mrs. B. a stout woman around early 40 s' walked in the class. Jill sat behind Aiden and Brad sat next to Jill. Brad was talking to a girl next to him. Jill was playing with Aiden's hair and pulled it back into a ponytail, she actually liked the way he looked with his hair like that, but it was bothering him so she undid it.
“Ok, class we're gonna be studying the countries of Europe today.”
“Mrs. B. we have a new student with us.” Aiden said pointing behind him.
“Oh, really I didn't realize that.”
“What did you think she was my science project?”
“You want to go to the office?” Mrs. B said giving Aiden a cold look.
“You want to go on with the lesson?” Aiden said dropping his hand.
“Of course.”
Aiden slipped on his headphones, while Brad was flirting with the girl next to him. Jill continued to play with Aiden's hair for the rest of the class before lunch; the bell rang when Aiden, Jill, and Brad ran for the door. “Alright lunch time.” Brad said stretching his arms in the air.
“Is that all you think about?” Aiden asked hitting him lightly in the stomach.
“I can't help it if I'm always hungry.”
Jill wrapped her arm around Aiden's waist once again getting Aiden's attention. Aiden looked at her with her head on his shoulder; he then put his arm over her shoulder. Aiden stepped outside and covered his eyes with a pair of sunglasses. They walked over to a set of stairs under an arched roof just a few feet above their heads.
“Hey Aiden there's gonna be a party Geoff's place should be pretty wild.” Brad said sitting down on the stairs.
“Tonight right.”
“Yeah, are you gonna come?”
Jill, you wanna come?” Aiden asked Jill wrapping his arms around her.
“Sure.”
“Hey, let's skip school.” Brad said jumping down the stairs.
“Where would we go?” Jill asked standing.
“The Galleria.” Aiden said putting an arm on Jill's waist.
“Now that you mention it there was supposed to be a concert at the old rundown theatre in an hour.” Brad said pulling out a slip of paper from his back pocket.
“We should leave now if we're gonna make it in time.”
“Is Dark Promise gonna be at the concert?”
“Um… it doesn't say.”
“Oh speaking of which I got in to Lament of Innocence.” Aiden added.
“Are you serious? You liar.” Brad muttered pushing Aiden.
“I'm serious. We're the special guest at the concert.”
“Then how come you forgot about the concert?” Brad asked eyeing Aiden.
“I ran into this beautiful girl named Jill.” Aiden said hugging Jill.
“What song are you gonna do?”
“I'm not sure Innocence probably, Shattered Promise maybe.”
“What position do you have?”
“Vocals since Jason quit they haven't been able to find anyone so they're gonna try me out.”
“Well good luck.”
“Thanks. Well come on they're not gonna wait for us.” Aiden said running ahead of the others. Jill and Brad followed Aiden the old theatre on the corner of Pine and Park Way. They took seats not far from the stage; they could almost feel the breaths of the singers as their bands played. Aiden sat there looking at the singers the way they sang and the pitch they used. Jill wrapped her hand around Aiden's; Aiden had then given her hand a light squeeze. Aiden turned to her but her eyes were still directed at the stage. He put a hand on her cheek and turned her head so he could see into her grey eyes. He leaned forward close enough to feel her breath. They exchange breaths for what seemed like hours until Jill could no longer stand it, she leaned in as she met Aiden's soft lips, but they weren't warm like she expected they had a slight coldness to them. Aiden liked the way her lips felt soft and warm, he never felt this way before and he never wanted it to end, unfortunately it did when someone called Aiden's cell phone. He pulled it out of his pocket and saw it was Johnny. “I have to go to the band meeting.” Aiden whispered into her ear.
“Ok.” Jill said kissing him on the cheek.
“Brad, see you in a few.” Aiden yelled as he ran off.
Aiden entered the backstage area and went to the conference room. He walked inside and saw Johnny, Tyler, James, and Jeremy sitting on the sofa in the center of the room.
“So what's up?” Aiden asked sitting on the sofa.
“We're gonna play Innocence and we need you to play guitar as well.” Tyler said picking up his extra guitar and handing it to Aiden.
“Ok. Johnny you have backing vocals.” Aiden said looking over at Johnny.
“I know sing when you let your guitar ring.”
“Ok let's go.” Jeremy said as he walked out the door. The band walked out on the stage, and got cheers, claps, and whistles. Aiden knew that Lament of Innocence was known through out the city, so he knew if he messed Lament of Innocence would be hated. Aiden grabbed the microphone and adjust the height of it, then he tuned his guitar. Tyler went behind the drum set and grabbed his drumsticks. Aiden's fingers had gone stiff and numb and started trembling. James strained the strings of his bass, while Johnny set up his mic and plugged his guitar into the amplifier.
“Thank you everybody, we have a new singer with us give it up for Aiden.” Johnny yelled into his mic pointing towards Aiden. “We're gonna play Innocence for you. It's brand new and was written by Aiden. When you're ready.” Aiden nodded indicating he was ready. Tyler tapped his drumsticks three times, then the others started playing. Aiden strummed his guitar and began to sing into the mic.
“Kill the Lights.
My screams of pain fill the night.
My breath rises, my body numbs.
My heart seizes, my soul fades away.
Take my hand, we'll run forever till it ends.” Aiden sang in a low, cryptic voice playing his guitar with his now bloody and aching fingers.
“This nightmare haunts me, it won't go away.
Your tears drip from a veil of fear.
There's nothing left, let's escape from here.
Hold my hand and don't forget to breathe.” Aiden and Johnny sang breathing heavily. Aiden pulled off his guitar. Three girls were reaching for Aiden as his shirt slightly lifted showing a brief section of his stomach. Aiden went to his knees in front of the girls as they touched his hands and legs. He continued to scream into his mic.
“There's nothing left for you, there's nothing left to leave.
“My hearts just a hole.”
Says my tainted soul.
This pain in my chest
Won't subside just like the rest.
I always knew I was never the best
You came back to me, back to me
To me
I never thought I'd see this day
When I'd walk away.” Aiden scanned the crowd and saw Jill staring at him in awe, he winked at her and a smile tugged at her lips. Aiden moved back a few feet, then ran towards the edge of the stage and swan dived into the crowd.
“From you, I don't want this anymore.
I'm boiling to my core.
From anger of memories of you.
I'll never want to see this view.
All your innocence
My soul is filled with abhorrence.
You tried to give me a kiss of death.
This is a vampire's wrath
AND FINAL WISH!!!!!!!!” Aiden and Johnny screamed the last line into their mics as Tyler stopped drumming. Aiden returned to the stage, he looked at the applauding crowd, then left backstage. Aiden didn't bother going into the conference room with the others, instead he went into the crowd and over to Jill. Jill threw her arms around his neck and kissed him on the cheek.
“That was good.” Jill said pulling away from him slightly.
“Thanks.” Aiden said as Brad walked over to them.
“Not bad. You should play more often.” Brad said sitting down. Aiden was ready to reply when he felt a presence among them that wasn't human. He looked around as its aura grew stronger. Aiden's fangs began to lengthen and his eyes were changing pale blue, his nails turned to claws as he clenched a fist to hide them. Aiden couldn't locate the aura within the hundreds of people surrounding him. He bit back a growl that tried to escape his mouth. Jill stared at him as he closed his eyes. Where is it? I have to find it then get out of … Aiden turned as he found where the aura was coming from, about four rows away he saw Daryl looking up at them. Leave it to the bands to pick the vampire nest for the next gig. Aiden's vision had gone blurry as he sensed more auras. He looked up and saw dozens of vampires on the roof hidden by shadows.
“We have to go. Now!” Aiden's voice was deep, and harsh, yet commanding. Jill was surprised at his tone, but said nothing. Aiden ran for the exit with Jill by his side and Brad behind them. Aiden pushed by people trying to reach the exit. Daryl had spotted them and began to chase them. They reached the exit as Daryl made a grab for them; his arm touched the sunlight and burned slightly. Aiden looked behind him as he ran; he could see the smoke from Daryl's burning flesh. Aiden looked at the sky that was a magnificent orange, hints of pink mixed in with it. The sun's about to set we have to get away from here. Since Aiden really didn't have to breathe, he had pulled ahead of the others as they were running.
“Aiden, wait.” Jill yelled as they pulled farther apart. Aiden didn't wish to stop, since the sun was nearly gone, but he was acting strange enough for Jill.
“Aiden, what's wrong you're acting weird?” Jill asked with obvious concern in her voice.
“Go to the party at Geoff's, and I'll meet you there.” Aiden said trying to make his voice sound calm.
“Ok. Promise me you'll get there soon.”
“I promise now go.” Aiden kissed her on the lips quickly, then ran off towards the old church. Jill walked with Brad through the darkened streets with few lights to guide the way. Aiden returned to the church and went inside, he pulled up a footboard and reached inside. He felt around in the hole when he found what he was looking for. His sword and dagger both carved with the symbol of a rose in the blade. He put on his trench coat in order to hide the sword. He knows I was with Jill, he's gonna go after her not me. Aiden's heart raced at the realization of his mistake. He ran out of the church, and flew through the night to Geoff's house. He arrived at Geoff's and knocked on the door. Geoff was one of the few vampires who didn't hunt after Aiden cause of his human blood. Geoff was able to hide his vampire characteristics through concealment spells.
“Geoff, did you see the girl who came here with Brad?” Aiden asked with panic in his voice.
“Yeah, they're in the back. Is something wrong?”
“It's Daryl, he coming after me. He knows about Jill.”
“Get her and get out of here.” Geoff said as Aiden ran to the backyard. He spotted Jill over by the edge of the pool.
“Jill, it's time to go.” Aiden said grabbing her hands.
“Aiden, is something wrong?” Jill asked looking into his eyes. Aiden sighed before answering. “Jill, I haven't been completely honest with you…” Aiden didn't finish as he heard a scream from inside. He ran inside the house and saw young girl lying on the floor with blood around her body, standing above her body was David, a merciless vampire that showed no fear of death. They moved at lightning speeds as if time itself had frozen. David directed his eyes at Aiden, then lashed out with his claws at Aiden's face. Aiden withdrew his sword from under his coat, he blocked the attack and swung his sword at David's arm hacking it off. David let out a harsh scream. Aiden drove the sword through David's heart. David fell to the floor motionless. Aiden ran out the door Jill ran after him.
“Aiden, what's going on?” Jill asked as she reached for his arm.
“You wouldn't understand even if I told you.”
“We won't know unless you tell me.”
“I'll tell you when the time is right.” Were Aiden's last words, before he left. Aiden had no intention of putting Jill in jeopardy. Aiden's past had come back to haunt him, Aiden's past was something he never liked to mention. His father a vampire, his mother a human, mixing of the species was forbidden for both sides. His father was a legendary vampire, but he was hated for the person he chose to bear his child. His mother was killed shortly after he was born, Daryl had killed her is what he was told by his father when Aiden was around 15. When Aiden had learned what he was at the age of 56 his father was killed, yet he never found the body. When love dies, vengeance fills the void. Aiden had chased the man he knew hated his father with all his soul. Daryl. Aiden chased Daryl for years and now here he is being chased by Daryl, when his heart belongs to a mortal. Aiden had stood in the middle of a street pondering on the past that's haunted him for so long. He had sensed Daryl was nearing to his locality. Daryl landed behind Aiden. Aiden turned and faced the man that killed the ones he held so dearly to his heart.
“Aiden, I've been waiting for this moment for so long.” Daryl said as he unsheathed his dagger.
“Now I'm gonna kill you just like you killed my parents.”
“You think that was me? You really are a stupid boy.”
“What do you mean?”
“Your father was legendary, if you kill his family you have hell to pay. Every vampire knows that.”
“What's your point?”
“I didn't kill your mother, because if I did I wouldn't be alive today.” Daryl said as he smirked. Aiden flared with rage as Daryl continued to throw remarks of his deceased parents in his face. Aiden's fangs doubled in size, his eyes had gone crimson red, his claws tripled in size. Aiden lunged at Daryl catching his arm with three slashes. Daryl sliced Aiden across his chest, then kicked the back of his leg. Aiden hit the floor and got back up and lashed out at Daryl's face scoring a deep gash on his face. Blood trickled down Daryl's cheek, and his arm. Aiden was too furious to notice the blood that stained his chest. It had started raining making Aiden's vision worse than before now that his hair stuck to his face. Daryl was weak to water giving Aiden a slight advantage. Aiden threw his dagger at Daryl getting between the lungs. Daryl was growing weaker as the rain became stronger, he knew he would die if they continued, so he fled. Aiden stood in the pouring rain as he shed tears. Jill had finally found him and ran to him giving him a tight hug. She looked at him and wiped away tears that ran across his cheek.
“Aiden, what happened? You're bleeding.” Jill said as she looked at her hand that was now covered in his blood.
“Get away from me Jill.” Aiden was a ticking time bomb as jolts of anger surged through his body. Jill refused to move, she knew he was angry, but she didn't know why. “Aiden, tell me what's wrong, maybe I can help you.” Jill said grabbing his bloody arm. The front of her shirt was stained with blood, crimson droplets continued to spill from Aiden's wounds.
“Jill, I can't explain it to you.” Aiden said getting up. Jill stared into eyes, but saw no anger only sadness, agony, regret, and desperation. He just wanted Daryl dead, even if he wasn't the one who killed his parents. Jill didn't know what to think; he didn't want to tell her what was wrong, and he was bleeding from his chest and arm. Aiden has always been alone, but now there's this beautiful girl so worried about him, after only a few hours of meeting. He could trust her, he knew he could, and he had to. “Follow me.” Aiden said leading her to the church. Aiden opened the church doors as Jill walked in behind him. “What is this place?” Aiden sat on the floor as he stared at her as she gazed around.
“It's my home.” Aiden said dropping his sword. Jill gave him a puzzled look and wondered why he lived in a busted down church with half the roof gone. “You don't believe me, do you?”
“It's just hard to swallow. Why do you live in here?” Jill asked taking a seat next to the disoriented Aiden.
“I have nowhere to go. It's better to stay here.” Aiden was not ready to reveal the truth about his past or heritage.
“Why stay here though all alone?”
“It's for the best, no one bothers me and it protects me.” Aiden was interpreting the truth a bit, but it was still the truth. Aiden stared at the sword forged by his father's closest friend. Asray was a family friend, she had done many deeds for his family when Aiden had been born. Asray knew that a vampire mating a human was forbidden, yet she protected his father and mother while the birth ceremony was being held. When his mother died Asray felt guilty as if she had failed her purpose. Aiden's father went in search of Asray in order to have a sword forged of Aiden's grandfather's remains. Asray was hesitate at first, but when she knew it was for the safety of Aiden, she agreed. It took Asray decades to make the sword Lucian asked to be forged. When Asray journeyed here to present the sword she had learned of Lucian's death. She searched for Aiden finally finding him miles away from his birth spot. She told Aiden her relation with his father and what the sword's purpose was. Aiden accepted the treasure his father had left for him. Asray told Aiden she regretted not having the sword ready sooner causing the death of his father. Aiden set out with his sword after the man he knew hated his father for the choice of his mate and had killed his mother. Daryl was known through the lands, as the most powerful vampire at a very young age. Aiden's father had challenged Daryl for leadership of the pack. The battle raged on for years eventually forcing others to join.
Both Lucian and Daryl had the ability and strength to lead the pack, but Lucian had more followers behind him. After 37 years of fighting and millions of injuries, Lucian had won leadership of vampires around the world. Daryl hated the outcome of the war, thus disappearing for years. When Aiden was born to his mother and Lucian, Daryl was in the area. Many vampires had found out of Lucian's relationship with the mortal and hated him for it. Daryl led a rebellion against Lucian. Asray was then hired to protect Lucian's family from any vampire that threatened Aiden and Aiden's mother's safety. Aiden's blood boiled at the thought of Daryl killing his mother, then denying it years later. Aiden swore that the sword forged by Asray would be driven through Daryl's black heart.
“Jill, it would be best if you left now. Your parents will be worried.” Aiden said dropping his head. Jill didn't reply she looked at him one last time then left closing the door behind her. Aiden didn't want to put her in danger. He felt he should take care of Daryl first, then move on with his life. “I'm sorry Jill.” Aiden said to himself.
Jill walked away from the church in the rain. Her hair stuck to her face, her clothes damp, and soaked. Aiden grabbed his sword and went outside. Aiden stepped outside and saw a familiar figure out in the street. He froze as he recognized the face of Asray. Asray looked up Aiden, then made her way up the stairs. “Good evening my friend.” Asray said as she neared.
“Asray, what brings you here?”
“I thought I should come and pay my respects to you.” Asray said extending her hand. Aiden shook her hand. “Asray, I need you to tell me what happened between my father and Daryl.” Asray thought for a moment then shook her head. “I already told you everything I know.” Aiden still needed to know about the vampire league that his father led.
“Asray, what was the purpose of the group my father led?”
“Their purpose was to kill anything who opposed them mainly humans.” Aiden wondered why his father would mate a human when he led a pack that hated humans. “Asray, where was Daryl when my mother was killed?”
“Daryl was being held captive for treason.” Asray was and wondered why Aiden had asked such a question.
“Why would my father lie to me?” Aiden couldn't believe his father had lied to him about his mother's death.
“What are you talking about?”
“My father told me Daryl killed my mother shortly after I was born.” Asray didn't know what to think of what Aiden had just said. “Asray, how far is the league from here?” Aiden asked heading back into the church. “It's about 5 days north of here. “ Asray knew what he was thinking. “Aiden, you can't go there. They'll kill you on sight.” Asray said knowing he wouldn't change his mind. “That's a risk I'm going to take.”
“I know you're not going to change your mind, so I'm going with you.” Aiden nodded, then pulled up the floorboard. He reached under the floorboard and pulled another dagger out and a steel gauntlet and attached it to his arm. He walked out of the church into the pouring rain with Asray behind him.
Aiden and Asray headed north to a place known and populated only by vampires. It rained constantly making the journey difficult for them, the heavily soaked earth swallowed their feet as they headed to Wyrd Forest 3 days away. They were not far from the forest, but to find the League's fortress somewhere in the forest was a different story. Rain trickled down to tip of Aiden's nose, then dropped to his feet, his hair was damp and stuck to his face. Asray's silver-white platinum hair glued to her lower-back as it continued to rain with no signs of letting up. Aiden grew tired the longer they traveled with the sword's weight being a factor. Asray's sword was light-weight yet durable its very blade was made with shards of crystal embedded in the steel blade, its handle had the shape of a rose.
“Asray, we shall rest for now.” Aiden took the sword off his back and leaned it against a nearby tree. The gold handle of is sword engraved with a rose held the enormous blade that was still stained with Daryl's blood. The blade and handle reached Aiden's height. He wondered how he was even able lift such a weapon with one hand. Asray was worried that vampires would be sent after Aiden, because of his different aura, the mixture of vampire and human in his aura made it simple for vampires to sense him. Aiden unsheathed his dagger that was held just above his knee, it was really just a smaller replica of his sword. The blade was a good 10 inches, the handle was half the size of the blade. Aiden was drifting to sleep, when something caught his eye. He saw a dark figure at the edge of the clearing, he made a grab for his sword as he stood. Asray had her sword drawn and was slowly moving to the center of the clearing.
“How many are there?” Aiden asked with his sword leaned on his shoulder.
“Dozens, 40 maybe 50.” Asray answered staring at the figure. Aiden turned around and saw that he and Asray were surrounded. When he turned around all the vampires ran out from the trees. Dozens of vampires ran towards Aiden and Asray. Aiden ran towards the pack and swung his sword drawing first blood. He slashed the vampire across the throat, but the wound was gone as fast as it was received. Asray lashed out at three vampires scoring cuts across the faces. Aiden ducked the claw of a vampire, but was struck from behind by another. Asray helped Aiden by throwing her sword at the vampire behind him. Aiden cut off the head of the vampire that struck him earlier. Asray grabbed her sword then turned to be slashed down the arm. Aiden heard Asray's scream rushed to her side, somehow they managed to drift far apart. Aiden pushed through vampires, swinging his sword as blood hit his face. Asray stood and drove her sword through the neck of a vampire behind her. Aiden brought the sword over his head and brought it down cutting a vampire in half. Asray lashed out with a series of attacks and several vampires, blood drenched the floor, as more bodies lay across it. Aiden dodged an attack, then was grabbed, a vampire slashed Aiden across the chest three times, before Aiden kicked him away, but was struck across the face as he did it. Aiden knocked his head back hitting the vampire holding him, in the nose, Aiden then dropped to the floor and brought the sword through the vampire's legs. Asray was growing tired, every vampire she killed brought two more to take its place. There was dozens of vampires at Asray's feet. The blood that stained Aiden's chest was washed away as the rain continued to soak the battlefield. Hours of fighting had gone by and the bloodsuckers wouldn't disperse more would come making it difficult for Aiden and Asray to stay together. Aiden was cut across the chest again and fell to the floor. Asray heard a distinct sound at the edge of the clearing. Aiden brought his sword up to his face to block the vampire's dagger. Another howl echoed through the forest once again. Aiden kicked away the vampire, but his leg was cut from behind. A figure in old, torn, clothes and a vest made of fur, his pants were covered in fur as well, and his shoes were ripped and worn out. His dirty blonde hair sank to his shoulders and flowed behind him as he flew from the trees. He looked around Aiden's human age about 6 feet tall his caramel cream colored skin reflected the little sun light there was. His arms were muscular and his body was built. He was holding a sword with a steel blade with a silver handle. The blade was four feet in length and the handle was two feet making the sword about as long as the wielder. The young man landed in the middle of Asray and Aiden. “Move!” Was all the guy said before he lifted his sword and swung it around his body decapitating vampires and also cutting them in half. With one swing he killed five vampires. Aiden ducked out of the way as he rolled closer to Asray who was still having trouble. Aiden jumped up over the guy's head and brought his sword down on a bloodsucker that was behind him. Vampires decided it was enough and started running for the trees. Before long it was just Aiden, Asray. And the young man who helped them.
“Who are you?” Aiden asked dropping his sword to the floor.
“I'm Demetrius.” Demetrius replied attaching his sword to the carrier on his back.
“You're a vampire aren't you?” Asray assumed sensing vampire in his aura.
“I'm not a vampire, I'm a werewolf. Look at my clothes.” Demetrius said annoyed as if he didn't like being called a vampire.
“But, I sense vampire in your aura.” Asray was confused enough already.
“I'm a werewolf.” Demetrius letting out a loud howl that echoed through the forest sending birds flying away.
“Ok, Demetrius.” Aiden said dropping to his knee.
“Why'd you help us anyway?” Asray asked picking up Aiden's sword.
“If vampires don't like you, you're a friend of mine. Besides there's a war going on at the League.”
“A war?”
“Yes, there's war between the vampires in the League and the one's who rebel against them and then there's the third party of the legendary fallen angels.”
“Fallen Angels!?” Asray looked shocked by the comment.
“Yes, do you know them?”
“Who are the Fallen Angels?” Aiden asked unaware of whom they were.
“The Fallen Angels were a group of vampires that had the strength and powers of a god. They were able to kill thousands of people within a matter of hours, but they were said to have perished long ago.” Asray explained everything she's read in the royal city's library.
“Well, they were wrong and now they've declared war on the League and the rebels. It's a three sided war that won't end anytime soon. We've had so many casualties and many are dead from the rebels and the League, but there hasn't been one death for the Fallen Angels.”
“How many Angels are there?”
“That we know of just five.”
“Five, but legend says there was only three to begin with.”
“They didn't mention the son of one of them. He came to finish what his father had started against the League and there is also the son of the person who led the League hundreds of years ago.” Aiden eyes widen at what Demetrius said. `My father led the League years ago, and Daryl led a rebellion against the League when he mated my mother. Could my father have had another son that was never mentioned?' Asray noticed his reaction, but said nothing.
“We should head for the League now.” Asray said handing Aiden his sword. Demetrius led the way since he knew the land better. The League fortress was two days away. Aiden had no intention of turning back, the rain poured and the mud made it difficult to walk. Asray looked over Aiden. He's changed so much. Last time I saw him he was afraid of going outside because of those whom hunted his human blood. Now look at him he's learned the sword's purpose and he can defend himself and others.Asray's thoughts drifted and took her mind off the world. Demetrius was a talented swordsman, but a bit crazy, and his eyes were a pale blue color. The sun was starting to set as the rain attacked the earth. Aiden knew that sometime during the night they would see another vampire, so they decided to hurry. They staggered in the night as their fatigue grew stronger, they reached a clearing and in the center of the clearing was a hill blocking the way to the other side. They raced up to the top of the hill and peered at the fortress that was in a crater, it was hidden by the hill from all sides. Aiden stared at what seemed like a castle, not a fortress. He noticed that there were vampires surrounding them slowly. Aiden knew that they weren't gonna let them by so easily, at least not without a fight. Aiden was the first to strike, he swung his sword towards the group of vampires, and scored a hit to the face of one of them. Demetrius swung his sword slashing two vampires in half. Asray ran for the fortress while swinging her sword. Aiden ducked an attack, but was cut on the leg as he did. The fortress' gates opened and out stepped a young vampire, shoulder length black hair. His eyes were pale green.
“Aiden, what brings you here?” Said the young vampire.
“Geoff?” Aiden recognized his voice.
“Yes, I'm the second in command of the League. I heard of the war and came here.”
“Where's the leader?”
“What business do you have with Raze?”
“I need to know what happened when my father was here.”
“He has no time to go through the League library.” It sounded as Geoff's voice was filled with anger after Aiden mentioned his father.
“I don't care.” Aiden pushed his way into the fortress.
“Geoff, the rebels are coming.” Said an older vampire that was on the tower. Geoff peered over the hill and saw thousands of rebels climbing the side of the hill.
“I have no time for this.” Geoff said as he stalked towards Raze who had his sword drawn.
“Raze, milord there is a vampire who wishes to see you.” Geoff said bowing.
“Bring him to me.” Raze said as his gaze drifted to Aiden.
“Raze, I need to know what my father did while he was leader of the League.” Aiden said as he pushed Geoff aside.
“I do not wish to assist you, I have enough problems on my hands.” Raze said as he turned.
“I will strike you down if you do not help me.” Aiden said drawing his sword and pointing it at Raze.
“Milord, the Fallen Angels have appeared. It seems all of them have come they want to end this war.” A young foot solider vampire said as he ran through the gates. Raze looked out of the gates. One by one the Fallen Angels appeared over the hilltop. Ten, fifteen, now twenty were charging towards them. Raze ordered his men to get ready for the battle.
“Raze, if I help you win this battle, will you tell me about my father?” Aiden said turning towards the gate.
“Yes, but only if we win this battle.” Raze said as he walked up the tower steps. Aiden shut the gates and followed Raze. Asray and Demetrius followed after Aiden. They peered over the fortress walls, thousands of rebels charged from one side of the fortress and the Fallen Angels from another. The battle seemed impossible for them to win, but Aiden was determined to find out his father's past. Aiden sheathed his sword and peered over at the archers. That's all it was archers and foot soldiers, foot soldiers were only good at close range, but according to the legend the Fallen Angels were to powerful to fight hand to hand, and the archers were to take care of the rebels before they reached the walls. Aiden's hands tensed, his body numbed, the grip on the handle of his sword tightened until his knuckles turned white. Aiden stared at the top of the hill as more and more Exiles stormed over the hilltop.
“Demetrius, I thought you said there was only five Fallen Angels.” Aiden said looking to the other side of the fortress, which the Fallen Angels were charging upon.
“I said there was only five fighting the battles.” Demetrius left the tower after those words. Asray was doubtful about this battle at first, but she had no choice. The Exiles charged the western wall. The League shot arrows at the Exiles, then at the Fallen Angels. Exiles fell in lines, but the Fallen Angels deflected every arrow shot at them. Aiden was useless from the castle walls, but he had to let the archers do what they can. The Exiles shot crossbows at the castle, few League members fell from the walls. The Fallen Angels focused on the castle gates. Aiden noticed one figure standing on the hilltop looking down on them. The League was losing leverage on the walls as the Exiles put ladders to enter. The League dropped their bows and unsheathed their swords as the Exiles flooded over the walls; Aiden joined the fight once the walls were breached. Aiden lashed out at one of the vampires who were on the ladder, as he attacked, the ladder fell causing others to fall as well. Asray slashed Exiles as they appeared over the wall, she blocked an attack that was given from behind. Aiden hacked away at Exiles, vampires laid dead on the floor as Aiden fought the Exiles who continued to flood over the walls. Aiden searched around for Demetrius, who was nowhere in sight. Aiden received a cut from an arrow that was fired. Raze slung his sword over his head and brought it down on the head of an Exile.
“Milord, the gate's been breached.” Yelled the vampire from the tower as the Fallen Angels charged through the gates. Aiden turned as the Fallen Angels came over the stairs. Aiden blood felt as if had froze in his veins. The very presence of these beings makes me tremble with unknown fear. The strength of their auras is sickening, the speed was extraordinary as well as their abilities in magic. Asray couldn't do much but dodge oncoming attacks, since her strength was of no comparison to the Fallen Angels. Aiden charged at the Fallen Angels with his sword lifted, one of the Fallen Angels known as Viktor challenged Aiden with his lance. Aiden dodged the lance by rolling to the left then lashed out with at Viktor's right side. Viktor received a wound for the first time in years. Viktor punched Aiden to the floor as Aiden kicked Viktor's lance from his hands. Viktor struck down Aiden again, and then brought down his claws. Aiden rolled to the side as Viktor's claws hit the floor, and then Aiden brought his sword down on Viktor's neck decapitating him. Aiden stared at Viktor's dead body. He had killed one of the Fallen Angels. Raze looked on as Aiden killed Viktor. He killed one of the Fallen Angels, but not one vampire's been able to do that since the death of Lucian. Raze couldn't believe he witnessed the death of a Fallen Angel, killed by a half-breed no less. Raze's thought's were cut short as more Exiles stormed over the walls. Asray drove her sword through the neck of an Exile, but was slashed from behind. Raze was growing weak as he was struck from behind, he stood as an explosion was triggered by the Fallen Angels. Aiden put his sword up to block chunks of rock that was blown of the castle wall. Asray put her back Raze's so they wouldn't be attacked from behind anymore. Aiden held his arms straight out and spun around, cutting everything within seven feet of striking range. Raze stabbed an Exile in the leg, causing it to fall to one knee. Asray lashed out with a series of attacks at an approaching Fallen Angel. Aiden's chest was still bleeding, from where he was struck by Viktor. Raze and Asray attacked the Fallen Angel named Kraven at the same time, hoping he couldn't take both of them. Lightning blast were sent in all directions as the Fallen Angels who specialized in magic took their toll in the battle. Aiden was growing weak from his loss of blood. Asray noticed the slowing in his movements, she wanted to help him, but she had a problem of her own. Aiden was having difficulties fighting two Fallen Angels at once. Raze had managed to kill twenty Exiles with one swing.
“Retreat!!!” Raze yelled as Exiles continued to spill over the walls. Aiden clenched his sword in one hand. He focused all his energy to that one arm. Raze could almost feel a pulse come the sword as if Aiden was one with the sword. Aiden lifted the sword over his head, he slammed the sword into the ground as air slashes and gusts of wind were hurled from the sword. Exiles started falling in lines and groups. Aiden tightened his grip around the sword and sent bolts of lightning throughout the battlefield. Asray gazed at the turn of events that lay before her. Aiden had just killed hundreds of Exiles with one strike. That's impossible. There's no way he could have done that as a mere half-breed. There's something behind him that's unseen. Asray couldn't help but notice a strange glow around Aiden's body. Aiden stared up at the hilltop and saw that same figure from early, but this time he had a smirk on his face.
Good job, but don't expect us to go so easy on you next time. A strange voice had appeared in Aiden's head, Aiden replied by thinking of what to say.
Who are you? What do you want? Aiden's thoughts were filled with fury and rage, anger and sorrow.
You'll know soon enough. The figure turned his back to Aiden.
Look at me!!! I'm not gonna let you leave here alive. Aiden's mind screamed. Aiden lifted his sword and ran at the figure.
Oh, is that so? Try and hit me if you can reach me. Now away with you. As soon as that was said Aiden was sent flying back several feet. Aiden hit the ground with a loud thud.
How'd he do that? Aiden's mental barrier was still down.
You're too stupid to realize who I am and what I am. Stay out of my site Aiden or I'll be forced to kill you. The figure turned and left. Aiden was left lying on the floor, with his mind hurting and his entire body aching. Asray rushed over to his side. “Aiden, are you alright? Are you hurt?”
“Don't worry about me. The Fallen Angels are gone take care of the Exiles.” Aiden's breaths were short and painful.
“Aiden, what did you do back there?” Asray's voice was filled with disbelief.
“I don't know. It just happened.”
“Try it again.” Aiden stood and clenched his sword. He felt uneasy and dazed, and had difficulty lifting his sword over his shoulder. Exiles turned their attention towards Aiden and Asray who stranded out in the middle of the battlefield. They charged at Aiden and Asray; Aiden clenched the sword tightly then slammed the sword into the floor then applied pressure to the handle and waves of lightning throughout the battlefield. The Exiles retreated and left Aiden and Asray standing alone. Aiden's vision was blurry and he was bleeding from his chest, arm, leg, and mid-back. Aiden began to stagger as he tried to walk. Asray noticed his disorientation, but thought it was only fatigue.
“Aiden, are you alright?” Asray asked skeptically. Aiden gave no reply, but only staggered forward then collapsed onto the mudding and soaked ground.
“Aiden!” Asray yelled as he hit the floor with a sickening thud. Raze raced over to where they were standing.
“What happened?” Raze asked looking over Aiden's wounds.
“He just collapsed.”
“I think it's from the loss of blood. He has lost a significant amount of blood.” Raze lifted Aiden onto his shoulders and carried him back to the fortress. Asray and Raze entered the castle and found their way towards the guest, then laid Aiden upon the firm bed. Aiden's body was almost motionless except for the constant breathing. Aiden's bleeding slowed, but had not completely stopped. Asray paced around in the room clenching fists then loosening then repeating the same actions. Aiden could barely see when he opened his eyes for a brief moment, but he could hear nothing, he was deaf to the world. The last thing he saw was Asray sitting on a chair with her head to her knees, then he blacked-out. Asray left the room, and headed towards the training chamber. Damnit, this is all my fault! I shouldn't have let him fight in the war. He barely knows anything about the League or the rebels or the Fallen Angels for that matter. Asray mentally cursed herself as she continued down the hall.
He stood on a grassy, green hill that was now stained with the blood of countless bodies. He clashed with an unknown enemy that had the exact features as he did, except this one wasn't a full vampire. It was a half-breed just as he was, but this one really had wolf blood. He could sense that it had only been recently gained, but it had grown strong with his blood. Aiden drew his swordand charged at the unknown figure that seemed to know so much about him. He looked so much like him. His hair was a bit longer his eyes were violet, but had a redder tint. It was almost like looking into a mirror. Aiden couldn't get a strike in, it's as if this person knows his very thoughts and everything that crosses his mind is read like a book.It was almost as if this person knew his heart. Aiden rolled out of the way of the enemy's sword.Even though his sword was a pretty big size,Aiden could still move swiftly. He dodged an attack from the right side, and swung his sword towards the unknown figure.
