Lessons from a Lady
"Where are we going today Clint?" Bunny asked. They were driving to Kyoto real early. "You'll see Miles-san." he answered. Clint had decided to free Bunny. The fist place he'd start, was her social graces. Bunny told Clint she wasn't taught anything the young girls were taught. And he knew just the person to help.
Once Clint and Bunny made it to Kyoto, they pulled up in front of this beautiful house. Bunny was amazed. "Come on." said Clint as he got out of the car. "Come on? What for?" Bunny asked as she got out. The two walked up to the door. The priest knocked on the door. An old lady opened it. "Ohayou gozaimasu. How can I help you today?" she asked. She looked and saw Clint. "Clint!" the woman said. "Grandma!" he said. Then he and the old lady hugged. "Come on in." his grandma said at last. Bunny and Clint obeyed. Bunny shut the door behind her.
"So Clint, what brings you by?" the grandma asked. The priest drew in a deep breath and said: "I've brought my lady friend over to learn social graces." The old lady's eyes lit up. "Well why didn't you say so?" she asked. Then she leapt to her feet and began getting out her ikebana supplies. "She's a run away slave." Clint explained. That sent a cold chill the through the sensei. (Noiz note: Sensei=teacher) Helping slave girls caused vandalism, kidnaps, and murder by slave hunters. When Clint saw his grandmother putting her ikebana supplies away, he said: "She's still a virgin. She was about to be sold." The sensei relaxed and got her supplies back out. "There's still a chance to save her!" she thought. "I'll take her as my student, but we have to be careful." the sensei said. "Domo arigato grandma." said her grandson. Then he left Bunny to her lessons.
By late afternoon, Clint came back to pick up Bunny. "So, how was your lessons?" asked he to her once they were in the car. "I love my lessons! My sensei is nice." Bunny answered. "That's nice." Clint said. "Phase one is starting off great." he thought.
Clint's second objective was education. He decided to teach Bunny how to read and write. "Clint?" Bunny asked. "Hai?" he asked. "What are all these books for?" the young woman asked. "Yes." Clint answered briskly. "Don't be silly Clint, I can't read!" Bunny replied jokily. "I'm going to teach you how." he answered. This startled the young woman. Clint was helping her and she didn't know it. Bunny decided to faithful to him no matter what.
Bunny was showing progress in her ikebana, tea ceremony, reading, and writing. But she didn't know her numbers. This occurred on a clothing store trip by herself. A couple of slave hunters were in the store buying lacey clothes for their slave girls when they spotted her. So they walked over to Bunny, grabbed and beat her up. It took security to get them to stop. Bunny walked home hurt and crying.
When Bunny returned to Clint's home, the priest was horrified. "What happened to you?!?" he asked. Bunny explained to whole story. She seemed angry. "What's wrong?" Clint asked her. "You lied to me!" she snapped. "Oh. How did I do that?" he asked. "You said you'd teach all the letter!" Bunny cried. "Really? What letters didn't I teach?" Clint asked. Without a word, Bunny picked up a pen and began writing on the back of her writing notebook. She wrote a seven, a three, and a twenty. Then it hit Clint! He didn't teach her numbers. So he stopped her by grabbing her wrist. Bunny looked up. "Foolish woman! You know I wouldn't lie to you! And those aren't letters, those are numbers!" Clint snapped. Bunny fell stunned. This was the first time Clint was angry with her. So she decided to listen to him.
Bunny was improving with her lessons. But she was good at one they didn't teach her. This occurred one night while Clint was out. Bunny was reading "The Tales of Genji" when she felt thirsty. She decided to make some tea for herself. So she got off of the bed, took her book with her, and walked to the kitchen. When Bunny got there, the kitchen was a horrifying sight. Dishes were piled up in the sink, groceries were still packed up, the counter was filthy, and the floor looked like it hadn't been swept in ages. As a matter of fact, the whole house was a mess! "Uh! This place needs clean-up!" she thought. Bunny put on a white headband. "And I'm the person to do it!" she thought. Within hours, the house was clean and spotless.
When Clint came home and saw his house, he was shocked. He began looking for his lady friend. Clint found her drinking tea on the couch while reading. "What happened?" asked he. "I just went to get some tea and figured I might as well clean the whole place." Bunny answered. Clint was shocked. "Could she be my savior?" he thought.
