The Princess and the Creature
Elsewhere…
Drip. Drip. Drip.
Vivian winced at cold sensation on her cheek. She reached up to
touch her cheek.
“Mmm,” Vivian muttered. Meep! The geisha jerked her eyes open.
George stood over her. She jumped back, screaming.
“What the hell?!” she yelled. George stood, blinking. Vivian sat
up, panting.
“Why are you here?!” she cried.
“Meep,” the creature said. She gritted her teeth.
“Is that all you can say?!” she asked.
“Meep?” George said again. The geisha sighed.
“Seriously?” she asked. Why did she have to end up with this
weirdo? What was this creature anyway? Suddenly, Vivian paused.
“What is that?” she asked. The geisha pushed herself to her feet.
She tried to look through the thick trees. It was quiet around her.
Too quiet. Her heart pounded against chest.
Suddenly, George grabbed her.
“Gah! Put me down! Put me down!” she screamed. Vivian kicked and
punched at the creature. George didn't listen. He crouched down
onto the moss. The creature jumped up into the sky. Vivian broke
down screaming.
George flew through the sky like a rocket. Vivian seemed to sink
into his body. She couldn't move. The smell made her nose hairs
curl. Yuck! What is this? Only her hand stuck out
from George's fleshy body.
Suddenly, movement stopped. Vivian opened her eyes.
“Huh?” she asked. The geisha tried to poke her head out. But George
shoved her head back in.
“Let me out! Let me out!” Vivian screamed. She kicked and bit at
the flesh around her.
“Meep!” George said. But he would net let go. He held her in place.
Everything sounded so muffled outside. It didn't take long for her
to tire out. Vivian just laid there in her fleshy prison.
Moments later, Vivian could hear light thumping outside.
“Hm? What… What is that?” she asked. The geisha tried to turn her
head. She poked out for a look. To her surprise, George didn't stop
her. The rain lightened up by now. Vivian could hear the thumping
on the ground. She squinted for a better look.
“What's that down there?” the geisha asked. Boom! Boom! Boom!
Boom!
Little explosions erupted on the ground. Clouds of smoke rose up
from the thick trees. Vivian looked up at George.
“Was that why you grabbed me like that?” she asked.
“Meep,” the creature whispered. Vivian frowned and turned her
head.
“Thanks,” she muttered under her breath.
“Meep,” George said. The geisha looked down at the battle on the
ground. What was going on down there? How long would this go
on?
“Hey,” Vivian said. “You know where we're going?”
“Meep,” George said.
“Do you at least have something to eat?” she asked.
“Meep,” he said. The geisha sighed.
“Never mind,” she muttered to herself.
“Meep?” George asked. The two just lingered over the chaos on the
ground.
