Dark Bond
The Origin of Darkness
~Prologue~
Looking at what was left of the victim's body, Dan was sick to his stomach at the mess. His vanilla trench coat, neatly tied back brown hair and fair skin, white shirt, tie, and black pants shows that he's a cop. Stands next to him is a young girl in her rolled up sleeves white shirt, creamy colored jean, her spiky black hair, and lightly tanned skin and no gun or holsters on her.
“Do you always look so pale on every crime scene?” the girl asked Dan. “You're my partner, Kris. Not a very comforting partner, are you?” Dan fired back at her. “DD, you've been in the force way before I did. This is my first day out in the field and you look like a dead guy already. What's up with that?!” Kris said angrily at him, since they're about the same age. “Shut up! Ugh… I think I'm gonna hurl…” Dan said, covering his mouth as he rushed away quickly. “Sheesh…” the girl pulled out a glove from her shirt's pocket, and put it on her right hand. A four inches screen appears in front of her. “They set the default to have to screen in front of people's face? How inconvenient…” she said irritatingly. Pressing her right hand to the screen, she moved it to her right. She hover her right hand over the face and then the half of the left arm for the screen to identify the victim.
“Vic's female, six feet tall, blond hair, green eyes, tanned skin, have a Latin boyfriend, and is currently living with him also. Works at the Beasty Grill and Bar, and last seen by the owner there around late last night, Mark was his name.” She reads off the screen on her right.
“What do you got so far?” Dan asked her. “A pretty dead girl in her late twenties, last seen was last night by the owner of the place she works at. End of shift maybe….?” “Kris, can't you be more specific?” Dan asked her. “Read the file then,” Kris said, angrily flipping the screen over to he can read it. “Cause of death?” Dan asked after reading the file on the holographic screen.
“Was eating alive, her blank eyes are full of terror, pain, and questions…” “Wait… Fear and pain, I can understand… but questions?!” Dan questioned her with his brows knit together. “Who is It? What is It? How could it happen to her type of questions,” Kris replied crisply. “Ohh…” Dan sound impressed by her remarks. “What a simpleton you are,” Kris sighed. “Wha?!” Dan is totally red with anger that steams of smoke might as well puffs out of his ears because of Kris's remark.
“Are you insulting me?!” the young man's knuckles turned white as his fists tighten. “No, I'm insulting your intelligent. Even though you're two years of my senior, your brain somehow ceased to function properly after you graduated from college.” Kris said, taking out a cigarette and lit it. Pulling out a flask of whiskey and pour it over the puddle of almost dried out blood along with the remains of the victim. She then throws the lit cig on it and the duo watched it ignite into flame.
“When you said It, do you mean there are more than one on her?” Dan asked as he told the car's comp to switch to manual driving. “Nope, only one…” Kris sat back comfortably and closes her tired eyes. “Gender?” “Female, maybe…” Kris tries to keep her eyes open. “Type?” “My instinct doesn't give me the type of It you know?” Kris growled at him. “Can't you at least sense if It is a Demon or Beast?” Dan insisted with his eyes on the road. “Maybe you should take Jesse with you next time around…” Kris mumbled in reply, as she is fast asleep. Dan pulled up the victim's address and decided to swing by to check things out before heading back to the office.
“Wake up,” Dan called to Kris. “What? We're here already?” Kris rubbed her blood shock eyes. “No, we're at the vic's place. Come on, let's check things out.” Dan nudged her elbow. “What the Hell?! You decided on your own, so do it yourself.” Kris scowled at him and went back to sleep. “Fine!” Dan slammed the door shut and head toward the rundown looking house.
Part of the house was covered with vines that are neatly trimmed, some windows are broken that give out an unsettle feeling to it. The steps creak as Dan set foot on it, and some of the planks on the porch are broken in different places. The light of the setting sun cast a shadow of eerily darkness over the house and the skeletons of the dead trees in the yard only add more haunting to an already haunted looking house itself. The door creak open as Dan knocked on it, and let a foul smell of odor escape from within the house up to his nose.
Dan immediately popped a stabilizing pill into his mouth quickly before he hurl again, since he's on his own this time. He fumbled his hand in his trench coat and pulled out what seem like a marker, a white looking marker. It was an AutoLight stick, it light up brightly as Dan stepped inside the house. Dan jumped around when the door slam shut after he took five steps into the house. Frantically, he searched for his gun underneath his trench coat, in the holster.
Aiming the gun in front of him with his right hand, he has to hold the light with his other hand. He creeps through the hallway quietly and checked in on every room, until the last room. The foul smell seemed to be coming from it, and so he kicked the door open. A pair of burning coal passed him by as the door swung open. He quickly chased after it and pulled some shots at it, but it was too fast and he ended up not even scratching it.
Kris jolted out of her sleep when the first gunshot was fired. Scrambling out of her seat and go in after Dan, she knew immediately that he's missing the target. She pulled out a pair of night vision glasses that fit her perfectly and put it on as she stepped inside the house. She felt no present whatsoever of the enemy as she walked around the corridor, and exploring every room there is to look at.
“Damn!” Dan said when he stops shooting. He quickly reloaded his gun and return to the room from earlier. Blood splattered all over the wall, and a male's body lying on the floor against the wall in front of him. The body was completely nude, and his bare chest is wide open and his organs are gone along with part of his torsos as well. There are only two dark holes where the eyes used to be.
“He must be having a good time before It ripped him up, and thank god I don't have to see his reproductive organs since it's gone already.” Kris said from behind Dan. Out of habit, Dan jumped around and pointed his gun at her, almost pulled the trigger on her too. “Dammit Kris! Why do you always come unannounced?!” Dan said with his heart almost jumped out of his chest.
“Did you get It?” Kris ignored his insult and she already knew the answer to her own question as well. “No, It was really fast…” “It's ready to reach Its first stage of changing from human into whatever It is, thus it is why It eats both genders to figure out which one tasted better.” Kris studied the still almost warm body on the floor. “What?!” Dan's mouth opened wide in awe. “You ever caught one in first stage of full fledge?” Kris asked as they walk out of the room. “No…” Dan replied after a long thoughtful pause.
“The first stage of the full fledge is ten times stronger than the one that is yet to reach the first stage, it is impossible to catch one that is a first stage of full fledge. You can forget about the other stages that comes after that,” Kris said when they're finally outside of the creepy house. Dan pulled out and handful of thick white coins and tossed it inside the house. Seconds later did the house blown up and burnt to the ground as Dan pulled the car away smoothly and headed for the office this time.
