Theo sighed, turning the empty wine bottle around in his hands, drunk as can be. He hadn’t intended to be at the top of a half constructed skyscraper in the middle of the night; just like he hadn’t intended to drink himself to oblivion. Face scrunched in frustrated anger, he curled his claws into the neck of the bottle, glass shavings curling under his fingertips in a hideous screech. His pale grey eyes were dilated from the drug he had so purposefully drowned himself in, disguising them from how close in color they were from his pale, white hair.
Mouth turning down in a frown, he let the bottle slip from his fingers and fall to the level below, shattering in a halo of broken glass. A hiss bubbled from deep inside his chest as he staggered to his feet, anger once again being amplified by the alcohol. Slamming his back into a support beam behind him, he slid to the ground, tears threatening to run down his face. Theo bit the tears back with pain, digging his claws into his upper arms as he tugged his knees to his chest.
“Theo?”
The voice was familiar and had an edge of worry and surprise as Theo whipped his head to the side to see him.
“What are you doing here?”
Theo staggered back to his feet in difficulty, baring his fangs in a slurred snarl, “You of all people should know…” He lurched against the taller males’ chest and gripping his shirt for support, leaned in close to his face and laughed humorlessly, “How many years have you known me?”
Lucca frowned through his back bangs and gripped one of his wrists in a gentle attempt to free himself, mumbling in disapproval, “How much did you drink? You reek.”
Theo frowned at the brush-off and stared, violence in his eyes and demanded again, “How long.”
Lucca’s eyes narrowed as he said slowly, “I guess…over a hundred years…” At his words, something passed through Theo’s eyes that Lucca didn’t recognize. Just as quickly as he noticed, Theo had pushed away from him and was turning away. Before he could take two steps, Lucca had a firm hold of his wrist and yanked him back towards him, a surge of anger washing through him, “I’m not going to just leave you here!” he all but shouted, “You can’t even walk straight. You expect me to just fend for yourself?!”
Theo turned on him snarling, “Yes! You ignore me anyways, what makes now any different?!” His eye twitched at the insult but he ignored it, picking up Theo bridal style. He moved quickly enough so his drunken friend couldn’t retaliate and stretched his raven colored wings wide as he pushed off the side into the night sky. He had to work harder to keep them both aloft, but now that Theo no longer had his feet on the ground his confidence had evaporated. Lucca just assumed that he had only given in because he had realized how difficult it would be to fly in his state.
Even though he had given in, that didn’t mean he was done with Lucca yet. Lucca whipped his lion like tail to the side to steady himself for a moment as he glanced down at Theo from the corner of his eye. The younger seemed just as angry as before, if not more so, and as tiring as it was to fly with both their weight, he dreaded confrontation even more.
He flared his wings at the stone balcony at the top of the skyscraper of their apartment and landed heavily, dropping Theo on the ground, which despite his intoxication, still landed too gracefully for a human to achieve. Lucca skillfully and quickly hid his appearance as a human as he observed Theo.
Rising from his crouch, Theo walked unsteadily through the already open door into the living room, stopping behind a sofa near a hallway. Lucca came up behind him warily and said reaching for his shoulder, “You really are very drunk, you should lie down.”
Theo spun around, catching his hand and slamming his friend, forearm to chest, against the wall, fangs bared, “I’ve always been here! But it’s like you don’t really see me… How could you not notice?…” Theo’s anger melted quickly from anger into sadness as his hold on his friends’ shirt loosened.
Lucca wasn’t injured, but surprised to find his back against the wall. He opened his mouth to speak, but his eyes widened in shock when he felt Theo’s lips crush against his. Lucca gasped into Theo’s mouth and tried to push away, but his shock evolved into something else and Lucca found himself returning his kiss. Theo pulled back for a breath, exhaling against his nose, hot breath laced with the sharp sting of alcohol.
Lucca’s mind finally caught up with the moment and in a sharp intake of breath spun them both around, pinning Theo to the wall by his wrists (Just in case he decided to claw at him). Theo hissed in pain at the force and the wall behind them cracked from the strength backing the blow.
They were both almost equal in height, but Lucca was still the taller of the two as he looked down into his eyes. Theo looked away, pained, as he whispered, “I’m sorry.”
Lucca was still angry, but not for the reasons Theo thought he was. His eyes narrowed slightly at his words and he leaned into his captive’s throat, fangs grazing his carotid artery. Theo’s breath caught in fear as he bared his neck in submission. Lucca drew out a low growl and murmured, “Why are you so afraid?” into his ear and brushed his lips across his jaw line, freeing his wrists.
Theo let out a pent up breath and sighed, “I thought you would be angry,” as he carefully judged if it was okay to put his hands on his partners chest.
Lucca spread his fingers over the younger’s heart and leaned his forehead against his breathing long shaky breaths, “No… Why didn’t you tell me?”
Theo gasped when Lucca moved his knee between his legs. “I didn’t want to scare you away.”
“You were so angry earlier,” Lucca gasped.
“Mmnn, alcohol,” was the only answer he could supply before Lucca crushed his lips against his in a needy kiss. Theo’s legs melted beneath him and they both ended up on the floor, Lucca straddling his waist, lips locked in a breathless kiss. Theo wrapped his arms around his back, trying to get the older demon as close as possible as Lucca tangled his fingers in his hair, holding him in place.
The heat growing between them was nearly unbearable as Theo arched his back up against the black haired demon. Lucca broke the kiss to suck on his lovers’ neck. In response Theo’s lips parted in a low moan as his claws dug in to his back.
Then, as abruptly as they had begun, Lucca pushed back from him, chest heaving, and stared into the eyes of his confused lover. “You’re drunk,” was all he said.
Trying to steady his breathing Theo groaned, “Nooo, I want this.”
Lucca took a deep breath and rolled off him and said clearly, “I know. It’s still no. I’m not going to fuck my best friend just because he’s drunk enough to kiss me on impulse.” Lucca pushed himself to his knees and grabbed his friends arm, jerking him to his feet. He grinned slightly at his friends face; his face was twisted so far into a frown it was almost a pout.
Sweeping his feet out from under him, Lucca carried him bridal style yet again into his bedroom, and after ripping the covers back, gently set him down in his bed. He’d thought about taking him to his own room, but his sex-driven brain quickly overruled that option and took him to his.
Despite Lucca putting a stop to their “activities”, Theo still reeked of alcohol and arousal, and Lucca felt a little bad for him. Lucca slid into bed next to him and pulled him back against his chest. Theo shivered at the touch and leaned into him, satisfied for the time being.
Within moments Lucca felt his friends breaths grow long and shallow as he drifted into sleep. He buried his face in the back of his neck fell asleep to the soft scent of Theo’s hair and the anxiety of wondering what Theo would remember the next day.
