"We need to talk" was all she said.
Kitan walked forward until he was next to her, staring down at the resting stone. He looked at the spear behind it and memories of his childhood sprang to life around him. It was as if he was watching a movie, he saw how they first met when his parents were still alive. The day they got into their first fight to gether, they had gotten beat up but he didn't care, he had a friend. Then he remembered how the two of them kept sneaking into Ms Huntermill's store, she nearly tore off their ears when she got a hold of them and dragged them back to Gnal's mother. He forgot, he had to tell his family what happened.
"I'm going. I have to tell his family about whats happened, and what i am going to do" He said hiding the pain all his memories had drudged up.
"Kitan, wait" she said putting a hand on his shoulder trying to comfort him. "if your going after him then let me go with you. These old bones have much more knowledge in battles like that then you do. You'd just throw your life away. Besides you don't know the way to Dralgo" she said trying to use logic problems to persuade him.
"No, don't" he said "I must become...stronger. For his sake." feeling his hatred for the man that struck down his friend rising, bubbling towards the surface "I cna't do that with you as my shadow" he shrugged her hand off and continued to walk away from his master.
"Then at least let me give you my map. I started to make one while traveling around Thuron in my younger years." he thought about it and then nodded. He would need some way of knowing where to go. A map would make life a little easier, now all he needed to find is some gold so he could pay for lodging, food, and other things I can't think of right now. Once inside the cabin she gestured for him to wait, then went into another room and after a few minutes she came back with a parchment and a small satchel.
"Here, my map" she said handing the map to him and then held out the satchel for him to take as well "over the years I saved a couple coins here and there. This is just a little. I think this can help you even more than I could. This is your tale, your destiny I think. Decide well and listen to the voice in your heart more than the feelings in your arm" she said flexing her arm.
He nodded then left the cabin. He made his way down the mountain and back to the village. By the time the village was visible the sun had already set and the moon had already risen. As he walked back towards Gnal's house the other students all raced up to greet him. They shouted congratulations of surviving their master, questions asking what they did while they were there. As he tried to fake a smile and answer them one of them was looking around for what could only be Gnal, because they all knew they always traveled together.
"Hey Kitan" he said trying to get his attention. when that failed he got closer and tugged on his shirt "hey Kitan, where's Gnal? You left together didn't you?" he asked
Kitan didn't know how to reply. All he could do was look around at the concerned faces of his friends and say "heh, we got into a fight...as usual and he left. said he 'wanted to go somewhere..travel the world.' So I told him I'd go back get some supplies and meet up with him outside the village" he said then told him he had to get something from his house and pushed through them. they said their goodbyes then let him through. As he reached the house he was greeted by Gnal's mother.
"Oh, Kitan! What a suprise, I wasn't expecting you back so soon. Please, you must be tired, come in." She gave him a hug and ushered him inside and onto the couch. "By the way, wheres Gnal?" she asked looking towards the door, as if any second he would walk through it. Kitan told the story of what happened to her. She deserved to know. When he had finished, shock had taken over. Deep down a part of her wanted to deny what he said, because she wanted him to be wrong. He was so young, so full of life, so much to look forward to. Then a part of her submitted to it and accepted the facts. She had known him for so long that she knew something terrible had happened if he was here and Gnal wasn't. She knew they were inseperable.
"If your truly set on leaving, then let me at least give something to help you." She got up, wiped her face, and went into the other room. When she returned she handed him a satchel "I noticed a small satchel that you got from being with your master and I thought a lttle more wouldn't hurt." He took it and gave her a hug.
"I WILL avenge him. I swear" he said through gritted teeth
"I know, but don't lose yourself trying to fulfill that promise. Even if you are successful, but you lose your sanity in the process, all you have done for Gnal would be in vain." she said holding onto him a little longer. "You were the other son I never had the chance to have. Come back every once in a while, You are my child and I want you to know that you will always have a place to return to."
He said his final goodbyes, she said to not worry about his sister she would tell her when the time was right. After getting some supplies he left and never looked back. It was morning as he reached the outskirts of the village and he couldn't bear it any longer. He turned to look back on the life he had come to know, the pain he felt, being alone as he traveled now had set in. He couldn't hold it back any longer. He turned around towards the road that lay before him and let out a beastly yell. He poured all his frustration, anger, pain, sadness, all his emotions into that one yell. When he was all out of breath he picked himself up, dusted himself, and steeled himself for what lay before him. He tried to think of something positive to cheer him up. He stood there in silence and finally thought of something. He would finally be able to travel and see the world, see the lands that lay beyond the mountains, beyond the horizon. His tale had begun.
