Then: William- It was lunch now and I sat outside with the only person crazy enough to be outside in the cold. I could feel his gaze on me as I stared at the wooden table top.
"What's your name again?" he asked me.
"Oh right…Cecilia." I said my voice trying to sound calm.
"Hmm…Cecilia huh?"
"Yeah, Cecilia." I confirmed. "What's yours?" I asked.
"William." he stated calmly.
"William?! I asked in disbelief. "Are you serious?"
"No, I just wanted you to look up." he said smiling. "My real name is Alexi."
"Are you sure?" I asked narrowing my eyes at him.
"Yeah."
I then smiled at him and quickly looked down.
"Are you avoiding eye contact or are you just going through something?" he asked chuckling.
"The first one." I stated.
"Why?" he asked.
"Is this an interrogation or are you just curious?" I asked looking up.
"The second one." he smiled.
"So what do you want to know?"
"Everything."
"Like I would tell you everything." I laughed
"And why not?"
"Because some things are better off not said."
"True, but if you tell I won't tell anyone." he sang.
"Yeah but I if I tell you then you would know everything and that just wouldn't be fun anymore now would it?" I asked smirking at him.
Now: The wonders of Orange Soda-"so what are the plans for today?" he asked playing with my hair.
"I don't know whatever you want." I mumbled back closing my eyes.
It was silent for a moment and his even breathing almost put me to sleep. Almost…his abrupt recognition of the real world soon took its place. I was on the floor due to a certain someone getting up in a hurry. He laughed at me and as he was about to walk I grabbed his ankle and pulled him down with me. The so called fight came to an end when I knocked the orange soda that was sitting on my side table on top of us. The stickiness of the liquid pleaded me to take action. With the constant remarks about it, it was decided that I was to shower first, and then he. The warmth of the water took its place in my hair, cleaning it out. I actually had the time to breathe. Before I was always in a rush, to meet up with Alexi or to be somewhere; that was the problem. But maybe the problem was already presented before I had even met him. Of course it was. It was all on me. Ever since I could remember I had been that way, never caring about anything else just on what I was focused on. It may have seemed like a good thing but believe me, it was the exact opposite.
Then: Wow-It was 5:00 and of course school was over with, at least for today. It was quiet, as it always was at my local bookstore. I shuffled through the books not really paying attention to the titles. I picked randomly at them pulling out and putting them back in. My mind dozing of into a daze, a daze that would take others five times to break.
"So this is what you do in your spare time?" a voice asked from around the corner.
My head spun around and not quite finished when I stopped. Why was he here? And what exactly was he doing around the corner?
"What are you doing here?" I asked walking over.
"I was looking for a book when I saw you and decided to spy." he answered.
"Why were you spying on me?" I asked closing in the space between us.
"Because you seemed interesting." he stated.
I felt a pang of anger run through me, but I had no reason for feeling this way. He told me the truth and well, he was right. Staring at a person pick up a book over and over and not even bother to look at the title was sort of interesting. I looked at him strangely but my expression was not returned. Instead of confused he had a smile as wide as the sky itself.
"What?" I barked at him closing the space even further.
"Nothing! Honestly!" he said putting his hands up as if to protect himself.
I looked away, my face reddening, to stare at the floor. I was truly ashamed of myself for yelling at him, I had no right to do anything to him.
Now: The same-I stepped in to find him asleep and half his body off the bed. I sighed heavily and walked over to brush my hair. With that all done I picked up the black eye liner and applied it along with the red one. I looked behind me and he was still sound asleep.
"Alexi." I called out. "Alexi, get up."
I moved him from side to side but nothing seemed to work. A smile came to my face when I thought of a plan. I ran into the bathroom careful not to wake him and filled the cup I grabbed from the floor. The freezing water was on the edge of the cup when I quickly turned it over letting the water do its job. With a yell he woke and landed on the floor.
"I told you to get up but you didn't listen." I sang out happily.
"Thanks a lot Cecilia, what if I catch a cold?" he asked getting up.
"Oh you'll live, now hurry up and take a shower." I said helping him up.
Alexi stepped in the bathroom and I heard the water start to fall. I thought about a lot of things during that time. Many of the things had to do with him. I also thought about what exactly we were going to do today. There were multiple possibilities: we could head out to the mall and wander around endlessly or until we got tired, we could go to his house and annoy his little brother and his friends, or we could stay here and talk about random things. It was only when Alexi stepped out that I realized that ten minutes had past and I had thought of nothing. His damp hair reminded me of a dog I once used to have; he went by the name of Pancho. I noticed the marks on his bare chest that were not there before; they were cuts like I had on my arms. His foamy eyes met mine and he smiled. I smiled back and we talked about what was going to happen today.
