Faded Memories
Part 2-2: Truth of a Gunshot

“Seta… Hey, Seta.” I heard a familiar voice in my ear. I felt a hand rest lightly on my shoulder and shake me lightly.

I slowly opened my eyes and blinked at the brown haired boy, “Leon?” I sat up slowing and felt a strong pain in my left ankle. “Shit.”

Leon touched my left ankle lightly, “That hurt?”

I winced as he touched it and slowly nodded my head, “Leon… What are you doing here…? I thought Dad said y-”

He frowned slightly as he removed his hand, “Don't worry about that now, okay? We should get you to a hospital.”

I frowned and looked down, “Leon… You know I don't like doctors…” Suddenly I heard a crackling gunshot as if it came from a few feet away. I looked up and saw Leon gripping his left shoulder as his white shirt began to turn red, “Leon?”

I heard a snickering laugh and another gunshot that rang out through my ears as I sat up in my bed. My heart was racing and I found myself breathing heavily with tears rolling down my face, “Leon…”

I sighed and tried to pull myself together. While whipping my eyes off, I glanced over at the window, “Sun's up… Damn I was supposed to meet Shade at the beach.” I glanced over at my clock, “And if that clock is right, then I'm two hours late… I'm two hours late?!”

The doorbell rang the next second, as if it was on queue. I stood up, barely managing to keep my balance and through my hair up in a ponytail. While walking towards the door I grabbed a zip up, black sweatshirt and threw it on over my tank top. I felt no need to change my pants since I was already wearing sweatpants. I opened the door, still not fully awake and blinked when I saw Shade standing there.

“Hey Seta…” His eyes look sad… “I didn't think you'd blow me off like that after what happened the other night…”

I frowned slightly, “Shade, I'm sorry. I overslept. I was just about to go down there…” I trailed off as I looked into his eyes.
He crossed his arms and looked down. I saw him blink and then look back up at me while grinning, “In your slippers?”

“Huh?” I glanced down and noticed he was right. I was wearing my fluffy red slippers. I looked away while blushing slightly. Suddenly I felt his hand on my shoulder and I looked into his eyes. I felt his soft hand on my neck as he leaned in and kissed my cheek, “Hey, don't worry about it. You didn't mean to forget.”

His voice is as soft as… The image of my brother clutching his bleeding shoulder flashed in my mind as I closed my eyes tightly and looked away.

“Seta, what's wrong?”

“I… It's nothing… Well… It's something but-”

He blinked, “It's nothing, but it's something? Seta you're not-”

“I wasn't done.”

His face flushed slightly and he looked down, “Sorry.”

“It's just complicated…”

His eyes saddened and he glanced off to the side, “If you don't want to talk about it, then I won't make you Setasha… I just don't like seeing you like this.”

I frowned slightly as I slid my arms around his waist and rested my forehead on his left shoulder, “Shade… It's not that I don't want to talk about it, I do want to talk about it, really… But I can't, at least not now.”

“…Are you ever going to tell me?” His voice sounded cold.

“Shade, I… I'm not sure.”

He sighed and rested his head on my right shoulder, “Seta… Running never solves anything. Trust me, I know.”

I blinked and pulled back while looking at him, “What's that supposed to mean?”

“Well… I've done some stupid things in the past. I know what it's like to run from-”

“I didn't do anything stupid Shade.”

“…Then why won't you tell me?”

I looked down, “Because I can't.”

His hair covered his eyes, “…That's not good enough.”

I blinked, “What?”

He turned and started walking away, “Call me when you decide to stop hiding things from me.”

“Shade! Wait!”

He turned and faced me abruptly, “What?”

His eyes looked hard and full of anger… I couldn't even stare at him so I looked down.

“Well Setasha? What do you want?”

I clenched my fists, “I…”

“Well?”

I felt a tear roll down my cheek, “I want you to stop hiding things too!”

I looked up at him and saw his face was in shock. I'm pretty sure his face was a few shade's whiter as well. I swallowed hard, “I want you to tell me what really happened when I was on that island.”
