Girl Problems

That evening, Michiko and Kagome sat on their porch with their green tea latte. The mother frowned.

Why does she always have to make my life hell? Hideki-kun is mine! Go away, Ashley!

Kagome tilted her head at her. “Mom, is something wrong?”

Michiko turned to her with her cup in her hand. “No. Why do you ask?”

“You look upset about something.”

Her mother bit her lower lip. “Well… It's problems at work.”

“What kind of problems?”

“Uh…”

Kagome set down her cup. “Is it a coworker?”

“Maybe…” Michiko sighed. “What am I going to do?”

Kagome took another drink. “Is it with dad?”

Michiko froze with her cup in her hand. “How did you know?”

“You're making face over your tea.”

Her mother stared deep into her tea. “I am?”

“Yes!”

“Oh…” Michiko clutched her cup tighter in her hands.

“Mom, what's the matter?”

Her mother lay back, sighing. “You can see through me, huh?”

Kagome set down her cup. “I kind of have the same problem myself.”

Michiko gave her a blank look. “Kagome-chan…”

“It's just school,” her daughter answered.

“Are you okay?” Michiko asked.

Her daughter sighed. “It's with Ryo-kun.”

“What?”

Kagome shook her head. “It's not that important.”

“Are you sure?”

Her daughter pressed her lips together. “Yeah, I can handle it.”

“I'm here for you, okay?”

Kagome held her hand. “Thanks.” She looked at her empty cup. “Would you like another latte?”

Michiko shook her head. “No, I don't need anymore.”

`Alright. Can I have another glass?”

“No, dear.”

Kagome gave her a strange look. “Why not?”

“Too much sugar and calories. It's too late at night.”

Kagome frowned at her. They couldn't openly talk about their personal problems as of right now. Still, as women they understood that the other had problems with their men. As of right now, mother and daughter couldn't give advice to each other until they sorted out their own problems. Tonight, they enjoyed the calm the evening brought them.
