Just Say Yes
-Azusa-
I don't know how this happened. Last night was strange. Part of me
wanted to think that I didn't remember. I looked around at the
strange bedroom I was in. No, I didn't drink much last night.
No. I was completely sober last night. Not a single drop of
sake.
So what am I doing here? Well… I nervously laughed to
myself.
I looked up when I heard the bathroom door open. My eyes widened as
Satoshi walked out. He paused while drying his hair.
“Oh, you're awake,” he said. “Did you sleep
well?” I blinked at first.
“Where am I?” I asked.
“My room,” he said.
“Huh?”
“You don't remember last night?”
I blushed as I noticed that Satoshi only had on a towel around his
waist. I looked down at myself. I ended up holding the sheets to my
breasts.
“Did we…?” I asked.
“What?” Satoshi asked. My face burned.
“I'm a virgin!” I cried.
“Okay… Why are you telling me this?” he
asked.
“So… we didn't…?” I rubbed my forehead.
“I am so confused right now.”
“I could get you some coffee if you want,” Satoshi
offered. I shook my head.
“No, no,” I said. “No, I'm good.” I tried
to remember what happened last night. I was lonely and there was a
phone call. I believe the latter happened. But why did I call him
of all people?
“Why are you all naked?” I asked.
“I was taking a shower,” Satoshi said. His tone sounded
so matter-of-fact.
“Why am I naked?” I asked. He looked so confused. The
expression on his face told me what I needed to know.
“So… we didn't…” I said.
“No,” Satoshi said, shaking his head.
“Then…”
He sat down at the foot of the bed. “I would never do that to
you.” Satoshi looked me in the eye.
“You are too indecisive,” he said. When he said that,
it all came back. I called him up because I was lonely on New
Year's Day. I had hoped he would turn me down. Instead, he agreed.
It wasn't a date. I didn't call it one. I mean, he's not my
boyfriend or anything. He's just…
I froze with my thought.
“Hey Satoshi,” I said.
“What?” he asked. I lowered my eyes. God, it hurt to
ask this out loud.
“What exactly are we?” I asked.
“Up to you,” he said.
I gave him a baffled look. “Huh?”
“It's up to you. If you want a relationship, I can give you
that. If you want to be friends, I can do that too. Just don't
string me along like this. My parents are trying to marry me
off.”
My eyes widened. “What?”
“I'm sorry.”
“W-W-When?”
“By spring.”
“Oh…” I looked down at my lap. It's funny, but I
don't get it. Why is my heart so sore? I never thought this news
would hit me like it did.
Heartbreak?
