*Flying with Broken Wings*
So the Lord God said to the serpent, "Because you have done this, Cursed are you above all the livestock and all the wild animals! You will crawl on your belly and you will eat dust all the days of your life. And I will put enmity between you and the woman and between your offspring and hers; he will crush your head and you will strike his heel."
To the woman he said, "I will greatly increase your pain in childbearing; with pain you will give birth to children. Your desire will be for your husband and he will rule over you."
To Adam he said, "Because you listened to your wife and ate from the tree about which I commanded you, 'You must not eat of it,' "Cursed is the ground because of you; through painful toil you will eat of it all the days of your life. It will produce thorns and thistles for you and you will eat the plants of the field. By the sweat of your brow you will eat your food until you return to the ground, since from it you were taken; from dust you are and dust you will return."
Adam named his wife Eve, because she would become the mother of all the living.
The Lord God made garments of skin for Adam and his wife and clothed him. And the Lord God said, "The man has now become like one of us, knowing good and evil. He must not be allowed to reach out his hand and take also from the tree of life and eat, and live forever." So the Lord banished him from the Garden of Eden to work the ground from which he had been taken. After he drove the man out, he placed on the east side of the Garden of Eden Cherubim and a flaming sword flashing back and forth to guard the way to the tree of life.
Giving a sigh of boredom Lenara looked away from the class now learning about the fall of man. She had heard the story many times and even witnessed the event. Father, God, as all the newlings called him, had created her right after creating her sister, which is the darkest thing he has ever created. Humans and newlings knew her as the angel of death but to all the elders and of course the Father himself she was known as Aireas. Frowning she walked up to the river Lethe. Sitting on the bank of the river she sighed again. Suddenly she felt a hand on her shoulder looking up she saw her sister Aireas. "I sense ill feelings emanating from you sister. What is troubling you?" Aireas questioned softly as she sat next to her sister.
Watching her sister sit down Lenara remembered why many of the newlings feared her. Aireas at full height was only 3 feet, 3 inches tall. She had white hair with near transparent blue eyes that had a way of peering right through someone as if looking into the depths of their soul. She was extremely pale and wore a pure white dress that ended just below her knees and as always she was barefoot. "Never will I be able to keep anything from you will I sister dear." Lenara replied. Aireas shook her head, "If you wish for me to not know what it is that is bothering you then you of course have a choice not to tell me. However I believe that if you tell me what your trouble is then I might be able to help you work through it." Sighing once more Lenara looked to the river and pondered on the idea of telling her sister her troubles. Silently Aireas watched her sister and smiled to herself realizing why her sister was the angel of life and beauty. Lenara was 5 feet exactly when she stood and had white hair with light grey eyes. She, like her sister was very pale, wore a white dress that came to just below her knees, and of course was barefoot.
"Aireas," Lenara began, "Have you ever wondered what it would be like to live as the newlings once did? I mean as Elders we have never been to earth right?" Aireas opened her mouth to respond but Lenara cut her off. "Well of course we have been to earth what I mean is we have never been there as humans." "Why do you feel the need to enter the world as a human?" "I suppose because I would like to better understand." Lenara stated slowly. "Better understand what sister?" Aireas questioned. "I suppose it would be to better understand that which is undoable in the state we are in." "Do not tell me you mean sin?!" Aireas screeched then continued in a normal voice,“Sister please you remember what happened to brother." Lenara sighed and shook her head, "Here you are the angel of death and yet you cannot say your own brother's name. Or have you forgotten his name? If that is the case then it is my duty to remind you of it or rather shall I say them." Aireas stood and looked at her sister with a look of fear and stated darkly, "How dare you. How dare you even think of speaking any of his names in this sacred place! I may be your sister but I will banish you from this Holy place if you even dare utter any of his names!!!"
Lenara stared at her, "You would banish me. You would banish me as you helped the Father do with brother." Taking in what Lenara just said Aireas nodded her head gravely. Smiling softly Lenara stood and turned to face the temple where the Father, the Son and The Holy Spirit resided. "Luckily my dear you will not have to worry about that for a while for I have made up my mind to speak with the Father and ask for a human body so that I may enter earth and experience it for myself. Nothing that you can say will change my mind, therefore I ask that you do not try to as it will only make it harder on yourself when I leave." "Are you so sure that the Father will allow you to obtain a human body and enter earth?" Smiling, Lenara looked back at her sister and winked, then walked towards the temple leaving a very confused Aireas. Reaching the doors she looked back at where her sister stood and waved then taking a deep breath she entered the temple. Blinking and stumbling Lenara wondered how the "trinity" resided in such a bright place. "My daughter it can't be all that bright can it?"
Blinking once more Lenara looked toward the location of the voice stating cheerily, "Hello Father!" Shaking his head the Father laughed. "Cheerful as always I see. Now my dear what brings you to me today? For it has been some time since our last little chat." Smiling sheepishly Lenara nodded her head, "Yes, it has been some time since last we last spoke face to face." Nodding, he spoke, "I believe the last time we spoke 'face to face' is when you came to me begging that I not banish your brother from this place." Pausing he studied her for a moment.
She was careful to keep her face free from all emotion. He regarded her for a moment longer then smiled and said, “Fortunately for you I am a forgiving being,” chuckling he continued, “Now my dear what is it you desire?”
