Author’s Note: This story was started a really long time ago but I never managed to get around to finishing it. My computer trashed it once and I had to rewrite all of it from memory... that was when I started backing stuff up on floppy disks... Yeah, I learned! And now that I’ve found this floppy disk, (because I lost it....) I’m gonna edit it and hopefully finish it.

Prologue
“Qui et little sister...” A young boy whispered to the wide eyed girl who clutched his robes. Their faces were smudged with dirt and their clothes torn. Rain had soaked through their robes and the girl was shivering with cold and fear.Disclaimer: Everything in this story belongs to me or my four wonderfully awesome friends.

Prologue
They had just witnessed their parents murder and were now running for their own lives. The little girl tried to wipe away her tears with the long sleeve of her once beautiful silk gown. Her older brother petted her soft brown hair; his hands passing over her flattened wolf-like ears.
“I’m scared Roshka,” she whimpered. His bright cerulean eyes softened and his brown hair fell into his face as his own ears twitched. His tail lightly swept the ground as he anxiously listened to the villagers approaching their hiding place.
“Don’t worry. I wont let anything happen to you.” She buried her face into his robes and tightened her grip on him. He looked up at the flames starting to draw nearer and pulled his younger sister into his arms. Rain continued pouring down and he carried her threw the forest till he reached the edge of another village. He let her down and hugged her, thunder rumbling overhead.
“Roshka?” she gripped his robes tightly in her small, trembling hands. There was fear in her voice, so much that his heart ached more for what he knew had to be done.
“I’ll come back for you soon, Neona. You must stay here for now. I’m going to lead them back into the forest and loose them.” He hugged her, trying not to tremble while fear that this would be the last time he would ever see her.
“Come back soon,” she whispered to him, trying to squeeze him.
“I promise.” He kissed her forehead, let go of her, and ran into the trees towards the group who had killed their parents. The little girl watched her older brother leave her and choked back her frightened tears.
She waited and watched as the flames of torches moved away, praying each moment would take them further from her, and the next would bring her brother back.
Then came a blinding light and the roar of thunder. Her ears raised and she turned her face towards the trees, towards the sound of something falling.

Author’s Note: I renamed the story shortly after I began to edit the prologue and renamed a few of the characters to expand some diversity in my writing. Speaking of which my writing style has changed since I first started the story a few years back like in 2003, so while I edit I suppose I’ll end up taking this story in a different direction than it was going. Oh well, on to chapter one then...
