Shots and Kisses
Toshiko wasn't a social woman. They practically dragged her out to
the festival tonight. She spent the night at the bar alone,
drinking. She still had resting bitch face. The other girls
couldn't help her with that. Maybe a little help could help them
out. A little friend called alcohol.
She's had many shots by now. Toshiko stuck up her glass in the
air.
"More!" she shouted. The bartender gave her an odd look.
"Miss, I think you had enough," he said. Toshiko flashed him a cold
glare. The bartender put up his hands and stepped back.
"Uh... okay, sure," he said. "Hang on." He got right to work on the
next drink. Toshiko stuck out her lip and nodded. When she turned
to her left, she noticed that she wasn't alone anymore. A guy about
her age wore a brown yukata. He stuck his hand up in the air.
"Excuse me," he said. "Could I get a Sapporo, please?"
"Coming up," the bartender said. Toshiko tilted her head as she
stared at him. The man turned his head when he noticed her.
"Oh, hello there," he said. The actress stared at him.
"You here alone?" the man with the boyish face asked. She raised
her eyebrow.
"Why?" she asked. The man shrugged and shook his head.
"No reason," he said. The bartender came with their drinks.
"Here you are," he said.
"Thank you," the man said. He took a drink. Toshiko downed her
drink.
"Another one!" she shouted.
"You've had enough," the bartender said. The actress glared at him.
This time, the bartender wouldn't back down.
"You've had enough," he said again. Toshiko was about to get up and
attack, but the man took hold of her wrist. She whipped her head
around. That smile. That damned smile. Toshiko paused. The music
suddenly changed over the speakers. Rob Base to be exact. The man
with messy mop of dark hair perked up.
"I love this song!" he shouted. The man turned to Toshiko.
"Care to dance?" he asked. The actress nodded her eyes and
frowned.
"Why?" she asked. The man shrugged.
"Better than pestering this poor man here, isn't it?" he said. "You
could dance off some of the booze for later." Toshiko puffed up her
cheeks and frowned.
"Whatever," she muttered. The man took her by the hand and led her
to the dance floor. The bartender was happy to see her go.
"Bye," he muttered. Toshiko flipped him off as she disappeared into
the crowd with her new friend. Rob Base pounded louder through the
air. The other girls looked up to see Toshiko awkwardly dancing
with a man. Some of them were smiling and laughing. Others just
stood there looking shocked. Toshiko didn't care at this point. She
was just drunk and dancing with a cute stranger. Attention be
damned. It's all just part of the festival, really. And the night
goes on.
