Love Note

The first day at the campus felt weird. Soon as a professor? He looked confused at first.

“What?” he asked.

“I just thought…” Mai-Pai said. She glanced up at him.

“This would be good for you,” she added.

“What do you mean?” Soon asked. “How?” Mai-Pai shrugged.

“I don't know,” she said. “I figured that you would want to talk about it somehow.” Soon blinked. Mai-Pai frowned.

“Too much? Did I overstep?” she asked. He shook his head.

“No…” he said.

“No?” she asked. Soon perked up and touched her shoulders.

“It's fine,” he said. “I'll do it.” Mai-Pai bowed her head.

“Thank you,” she said. “You won't regret it.” Soon focused himself to smile.

His semester started in January. The first day felt awkward. So many eyes on him. Soon felt like an animal in a zoo.

“Uh… Uh… Good morning, class,” he said. “My name is Gak Soon.” His accent must have sounded funny. All eyes stayed on him. Sweat covered his forehead. He didn't even remember what he said in the lecture. He just wanted to go home.

By noon, Soon wanted to sink into the floor. He buried his head in his hands.

“Oh boy…” he muttered. There was a knock on the teacher's lounge door.

“Enter,” Soon said. He looked up as he heard the door open. Be stood in the doorway. He tilted his head.

“Be?” Soon asked. “What are you doing here?” The girl seemed as she held up an envelope.

“Oh,” Be said. “I have letter for you here?” She twirled the envelope in her fingers. He blinked at her.

“A letter? From whom?” he asked. Be chuckled to herself. She dropped the letter on his desk. Be turned and ran out of the room.

“Hey!” Soon shouted. Be closed the door behind her. Soon looked even more confused.

“Huh? What was that all about?” he asked. Soon looked down at the letter on his desk. What was this? Soon picked it up and opened it. He froze. His cheeks turned red as he read on.

Dear Soon,

I like you so much. Please have a good day. You can do this.

Love, Mai-Pai

Soon's jaw dopped. The letter fluttered to ground.

Meanwhile, Be smiled to herself in class. Her plan already started to take effect. That was only the beginning.
