Weekend Free
Lately, Hindeo has a new interest. He pulled out his phone in his
dorm.
“Hello?” Be asked on the other line. Hindeo perked up.
“Hey!” he said. “You busy this weekend.”
“Why?” she asked.
“My friend has a cottage in the countryside,” he said. “He's
overseas right now.”
“So?” Be asked. Hindeo didn't miss a beat.
“Come out with me for the weekend?” he asked. There was a pause on
the other line.
“With whom?” Be asked at last.
“Me,” he said.
“And?” she asked.
“Just me.”
“So… A date?”
“Yes.” Hindeo smiled. “So… Are you in?” There was another
pause.
“Hello?” Hindeo asked.
“Okay,” Be said. The young man paused.
“Really? You mean it?” he asked.
“Yeah,” she said.
“Great. I'll pick you up at three on Friday, okay,” he said.
“Right,” Be said. She hung up on her end. Hindeo broke into a huge
grin.
“Yes!” he said to himself.

-Friday-
Mai-Pai sat in her home office. Her right hand trembled. She was
doing it, wasn't she? Be and Hindeo in the countryside. Alone
together. Mai-Pai shook her head.
No. Be wasn't like that. She was the good girl. It was Hindeo who
was the problem.
Hindeo.
Mai-Pai shivered at the throat. She turned her head at the sound of
the knock on her door.
“Yes?” she asked.
“Can I come in?” Soon asked. Mai-Pai sat back in her chair and
sighed.
“Sure,” she said. She looked up as the door opened. Soon stood in
the doorway.
“Hey,” he said. Mai-Pai gave him a weary smile.
“Aw, what's wrong?” he asked. She shook her head. Soon frowned.
“It's Be and Hindeo isn't it?” he asked. Mai-Pai sighed.
“Mai-Pai,” Soon said.
“I know, I know,” she said. “Just… Don't.” Mai-Pai rubbed her
forehead. Soon patted her on the shoulder. His girl didn't
respond.
“It's just him,” she said. “I've heard the stories. Hindeo is such
a playboy.”
“But this is Be,” Soon said.
“I know,” his girlfriend said. “I know.” Mai-Pai put her head on
the desk. Soon drew back his hand. Nothing he could say would help.
Well, there was one thing.
“Did you trying calling her?” he asked. Mai-Pai lifted her head and
turned to him. Soon shrugged.
“I mean,” he said. “It couldn't hurt, right?” Mai-Pai stared at me
for a moment. Soon frowned.
“No good?” he asked. Mai-Pai shook her head.
“No, it's fine. Perfect, even,” she said. She reached over and
picked up the phone.
